I had the pleasure of speaking to the big man today. He was in the West upper , had his Hibs tracksuit on , sitting with other players.
I went and thanked him for all his efforts and the pleasure he has brought me. I then asked him where he was going, he replied he had nowhere definite and he wanted to stay at Hibs .
He said it was the " people upstairs " where the problem lay. I assume it's about paying him what he wants. He definitely has a passion for the Hibs , a truly lovely humble man .
Lewis Steveson was there also, and chatted away , Lewis really is a credit to himself , Hibs and his family , a Hibs class man if ever their was one . He is up there with Pat Stanton .

Maybe not gone yet here’s hoping! Assuming he’s not after crazy money he is well worth stretching to £5 or £6k a week for.

Unless he's wanting daft money pay him...

Nice one for sharing yer wee chat. [emoji106]

I'm not questioning what you say about Efe at all but I do think that the only way what he said to you stacks up is if he assumed he'd be inundated with offers as a free agent and that hasn't transpired. If that's the case and he stays I must admit I'd be a wee bit worried about a confidence dip affecting his performance from now on.

If it's £5 a week I'll pay it.

Efe doesn't let anything get to him. He is the most laid back individual to possibly have ever pulled on a Hibs strip*

With the exception of Mark Caughey. He was horizontal for other reasons ...hic!

Me too!

Efe has chosen himself to invoke a release clause from the club meaning (a) he wants to leave, and (b) he wants to leave now rather than in the summer.
I would love to see him now sign a new contract and stay with Hibs, but I think actions speak louder than words and his actions tell me he will sign for another club fairly soon.

Used to drink in my local. Him and Bobby Thomson. Hic indeed. :drop::drop:

Hope Efe stays, I really do.

Fingers crossed. I understand it was a shock when he ripped up his contract. Talks still on going . So there is hope

Perhaps he was wearing his Hibs trackie to ensure free entry into the game. He is unemployed after all. (He just walks brazenly through the reception).
Seriously though, much as I would love him to resign, I just can't see it happening.

Guess he'll be away soon on a contract we can't afford. Small chance he's invoked contract end early so he can sign a much improved contract with us now.

Lol he did not have hibs tracky on. He borrowed Hibs jacket to keep warm.

In cases like this do Hibs hold on to his registration papers until he formally signs for another club?

If it is the case and he did sign a new contract then it would perhaps cut out all the faffing about. He could sign a contract at 6:45 on Wednesday and play against Motherwell for example.

No contract is cancelled. He has no ties to Hibs

We opened talks with him and he chose an early cancellation to his contract.

Thats not anyone upstairs fault.

Who says, "give me more money now or I'm leaving immediately"

Could we play him as a trialist?

No trialists in a top flight game.

The Sun are saying we will not offer an improved deal yet a journalist on Twitter reckons we are in discussion with him as things haven't panned out the way he'd hoped after leaving. Find that quite difficult to believe as you would of thought don't tear up your contract unless you had 2 or 3 clubs interested in you!

Think this is the important bit , the grass isn't always greener

I assume it's the original offer we made him which is still on the table. I certainly don't think we should be offering him any more money than what was in that deal. He is just looking for more money and probably thought that by invoking the "leave early" clause it would either (a) alert other clubs he was available, or (b) push Hibs into offering him more. I still think he will be signed up by an English club (or perhaps Celtic again), but like most fans I would love to see him sign the original deal we offered him.

If you want quality over quantity then he is your man. Doesn't tend to get injured, is very fit, doesn't pick up many suspensions. When you look at some players who have barely kicked a ball this season , I know where I'd be spending the cash.

Absolutely. Best player at the club since McGinn left.

Pretty sure Hibs will have pushed the boat out here, for all the reasons above.
But if Efe is looking for wages equivalent to what he could reasonably command down south then it was never going to happen.

Since he signed for Hibs I don’t remember him ever having an injury or a suspension. He’s available for every game.

Didn't realise how tall he was look at his stats - 6'3. I hope wee Efe returns.

Mee too . He’s a class act . Way better than Bamba .

That's quite an unusual release clause he has in his contract whereby you are effectively a free agent in the January transfer window at a time when there are only a few decent players around many of whom still require a pay of, as well as the many dubious players who might make it or might not and just loads and loads of complete and utter duds.

To have a player of Efe's quality available for zero expense other than his signing on fee puts him in a strong position and its nice to still be in with an outside chance of him resigning.

Its his last pay day and he is right at his peak though and its hard to see that there wont be better offers out there.

Have to say that it remains a mystery to me how we got him in the first place .

Yet nobody seems desperate to have in place early

I love watching his casual style of play, but he has a reputation for being a liability, and that's not easy to shake off.I don't think there'll be many better offers to him....hope he comes back

Just because he's not signed for anyome doesn't mean he's not got offers?

We knew about suitors in Turkey and France? He'll be weighing up his options, he's got time to do so.

If us offering him an improved deal free'd him up, we shouldn't have bothered. Doesn't really make sense.
Sounds like he was always free to do this I think.

Watching the game yesterday. Get him signed back up pronto. We'll never be able to sign a player with his quality, he's worth paying the extra money for.

In the crowd?? Good to see he still cares a bit. Sorely missed. Just imagine where we could of been without Efe.

My writing is terrible. I was watching the game on TV, but it stood out like a sore thumb how much we miss the big guy at the back. Hopefully we can convince him to finish his career here.

Massively missed.
