This man makes my teeth itch . What does he offer , as a pundit???
He he is so negative, always sounds so bored and unimpressed. He has done for a long time .
Offers no insight into tactics or in fact anything which might enhance the experience for the viewer.
Never ever has a co- commentator annoyed me so much, and he has done for years. Add to that he was a bang average player , I just don't get how he gets the gig?? So many other decent candidates for the job. Is my serious dislike for the guy unwarranted , or does he rip everyone's knitting?

Never liked the guy. His cynical, sneering attitude to everything does my nut in. Then he tries to be funny but has no wit whatsoever. He also gets just about every prediction wrong. I know he was an irish internationalist but he seems to have that little Englander attitude towards smaller nations as well. His knowledge of scottish football is zero. He seems to think that you can only be a top player if you are playing in the Premiership.

I watched the Nigeria game tonight and although it pains me to say it, Sooper Ally was a breath of fresh air after listening to both Lawrenson and that other half wit Hoddle during the other games.

Likewise, I thought not so super Ally was more down to earth and endearing than big knob Mark ever has been.
I'm glad the overriding opinion of "Lawro" is the same as mine . My dislike for the guy is unhealthy, he spoils my enjoyment of watching a big game . I really shouldn't let him get to me , but he does!!!

You always got the impression him and Alan Hanson actually hated fitba, zero enthusiasm for the game that made them a living. At least Hanson had the grace to call it a day. BBC really is a job for life if you’re a “name”!

This is totally how I have always seen him. I remember watching Football Focus something like 20 years ago and it was the 3rd round of the English FA Cup so obviously this was all the programme covered. At some point Lawreson shares his amazing insight and dourly tells everyone that the days of Cup shocks have long gone, the top teams are so fantastic and the lower leagues are devoid of talent, drone drone drone. Cue about three 3rd Division clubs knocking out Premier clubs and a couple non league teams beating league clubs. He has zero insight as far as I can see. A total mystery as to why the license paying public have shelled out a salary for him for the last 25 odd years.

Mind you I'd maybe prefer his droning compared to the half wits we get commentating on the Soccer here. It's not like they get much time to talk between all the adverts but they still manage to show their complete ignorance of the game by calling things 'end lines', 'penalty corners' and I shit you not I've heard it referred to as a 'tip off' to restart the game after a goal. My grasp of Spanish isn't great but where possible I always opt for the Spanish language channels if a games on both.
