    Another Hertz Ticket Scam??

As a Youth Football Club secretary I get loads of e-mails from all sorts o' people, and this is one I recieved today ...

Heart of Midlothian Football Club presents Cash For Clubs

Cash for Clubs is a brand new scheme which aims to raise funds for
    local clubs and teams.

Through attending Clydesdale Bank SPL matches at Tynecastle Stadium
team players, their relations, and team leaders now have the opportunity
to raise hundreds of pounds for their club.

The Cash for Clubs scheme works like this:

Your club / team sell a minimum of 20 tickets for a
    Clydesdale Bank SPL match.

Tickets are purchased from Heart of Midlothian Education and
    Community Trust.

40% of the profits (after VAT) come back to your club /
    team.

Heart of Midlothian present a cheque at half time on the
pitch to representatives of your club / team.

Here is a quick example of how much you could raise:

30 tickets for Gold section (15 adults and 15 U18's) for a Cat B match
(all games expect Rangers, Celtic, and Hibs)

    Total: 510.00
    Minus VAT 76.50
    NET PROFIT 433.50

    Cash For Clubs 40% = 173.40

Obviously I'm gonny take a biased view on this, but even if it was Hibs I'd probably still see this as a scam.

From what I can see, they want my club to fork out a minimum 20 tickets worth of dosh, up front, this can range from 240(20 x Concess@12 each) - 440(20 x Adults@22 each), to get your 40% back(-/+ 80-160).

I'm all for clubs trying to bring in funds, I know just how hard it is to raise funds for my club, but this seems like an awfy lot o' hard work to make a very small amount o' money.

And why do they take back vat? Shirley thats already taken into account on the ticket price?

Wonder how many this will put on their attendance figures?

    another 400,000 maybe???

I dont reckon this is a scam but its a poor attempt to get clubs in. Its a bit different but if it were Hibs I would prefer they just had deals with clubs that when placing an order of 10+ tickets (min 5 adults) that they would receive a discount of lets say 40% (to match the above). This IMO would encourage small teams to take in a game or two each season. Maybe get some youngsters into it and show Hibs as a good community club.

Then again this is just my thoughts on it.

    Re: Another Hertz Ticket Scam??

Weird. Why do you buy the tickets from Heart of Midlothian Education and
Community Trust and not Hertz of Mudlothian?

I'm not sure there's much wrong with it although some of the detail looks a bit murky.

I'm quite keen on clubs getting involved with selling tickets through the "grass roots" so I don't think it's a bad thing per say.....

    but

...in common with any right thinking person, Hibby, Jambo or otherwise, I wouldn't trust the custodians of Scumcastle to pay up the 173.40. For that reason this offer is, or should be, dead in the water.
"Son, no one gives a shit about all the things your cell phone does. You didn't invent it, you just bought it. Anybody can do that."

Because the club may offer a discount back but the Government do not offer the same discount from the V.A.T. paid in the first place.
