    Strength In Depth

Now the transfer window has closed this is the squad we have:

    Keepers: Maka, McNeil, Grof

Defenders: Jones, Hogg, Bamba, Murray, Van Zanten, McCann, Hanlon, Gathuessi, McCormack

Midfielders: Thicot, Keenan, Stevenson, O'Brien, Deano, Morais, Zemmama, Rankin, Chisholm

Forwards: Fletcher, Riordan, Pinau, Yantorno, Nish, Campbell.

Looking at that we could fairly decent 11s, and get together a very strong first 11. IMO the squad is still too big, thats 27 and we have Benji and Gray to come back from loan making it 29.

    Re: Strength In Depth

From the squad i really think mccann, mccormack, gatthuessi, chisolm, morais and campbell will be lucky if they see any first team action unless the injury list piles up.Imo gatthuessi warrants another go a right back i think he offers a lot more going forward than dvz and depending on tactics and opposition should get his share of starts at right back and morais is a decent player to have on the bench but looking at who else we have in midfield he may have to move on to find first team action.

    Mccann loaned out
    Chisolm released/sold
    Mccormack loaned out
    Campbell loaned out

The luxuary of having depth in our squad is something we have not had in a few years.

We now have a squad of players that I feel are gid enough to play in the UEFA Cup and still hold down a gid league position.

McCan imo deserves another shot at RB, he was solid in a game against the buns towards the end of last season. The only full game he played I think.

I'm surprised anyone would play him anywhere else. Mind his first game at Pittodrie, he was emense. I think he played well at the PBS not long after that.

    Re: Strength In Depth

a rather big squad but as the saying goes, quality not quantity and im still not sure we have enough quality within the squad even with riordan coming back!!

some pretty shoddy performances so far this season!

Concur wi that! Wait to see what Bamba is like first, though.

Zooma ,Deek, Fletch and AOB playing a Man U type "diamond" would be a good tactic.

Swap around the two highlighted and you're a little closer, certainly don't think we should be going 4-3-3 though

    Re: Strength In Depth

id like a back up right back to van zanten as i have a feeling that mccann's career is unfortunately going all johnathan baillie on him.

id get shot of chisolm and try and bring in a central midfielder in his place.

id get shot of morais and try and bring in a right sided midfielder in his place.

id then get shot of gathuessi, benji, campbell, mcneill or grof and possibly rankin .

I dont see fletch being at the club this time next year so hopefully damon gray can step up to the plate and become our next star striker.
