It was delibrate I mentioned this as opposed to my views on the games. I think films genuinely are kept close to their age classification. My 7yo son can, and has, quoted GTA. He can't quote Hostel.
I know what you mean Ricky but totally don't agree with your views, however ironic they were intended to be.
never seen hostel, but from what i've heard saw - at least the first one - doesn't compare. it was a thriller full of tension - however poorly executed. from what i gather, the selling point in hostel is basically cruelty and torture which sounds a bit gay to me.
but i don't wish to judge, i used to watch that sort of $#@!e as a teenager, when it was the thing to do. would bore me now though.
i've developed a bit of a prudish thing about cruelty being made 'cool'. i think that violence, which is different, provokes something that's in us - that is always regrettable but also sometimes essential, and thus stimulates us at a primal level.
cruelty on the other hand, is wholly negative - barring some machivalleian arguments i don't buy into.
in particular, i think quentin tarantino is a ****, the kind of wee $#@!e that tags about the back of a scrap and stamps the ko'd chap that everybody else has left. and i'd like to batter him. really.
We'll shine like stars in the summer night, we'll shine like stars in the winter
I mightn't have worded it right but what I meant was to have a thread on how we reacted to our fellow homosapiens using violence against each other. In my experience we all crowd round and roar. "Yeahh, kill the **** that's not on my side". We're f##kin stupid and evolution is a joke. We've shed our fur, that's it.
F##kin detest Machivallei, won't lower myself to comment on the ****. Agree with you. Alas, he sussed our societies fairly well?
I like Tarantino. His films are, and it pains me to use the word, "cool". Escapism? I think, hope?, adults can decide for themselves? Most of them (adults) are violent anyway and not worth much. Read war books if you want to find out what our beautiful species really is. Not much IMO.
here is a new docu (may 2008) about these kind of movies. some graphic scenes in this docu as well as horrifying stories of sickos that have been involved in this. not for the faint of heart and a very disturbing docu to watch

quote/ Snuff: A Documentary About Killing on Camera (2008)
Feature film examining the existence of films in which people are murdered on camera and the culture surrounding them. Through interviews with former FBI Profilers, Cultural Academics, and Film Historians the documentary delves into the disturbing history and myth of Snuff Films. The FBI claims there is no evidence to prove the existence of Snuff and, therefore, Snuff Films are a myth. This documentary analyzes the relationships between war, cult films, serial killers and pornography to prove whether or not this pervasive myth is, in fact, reality.
I thought that the first 3 (first 2 in particular) Saw films were absolutely top notch.
However, thought Hostel and it's sequel were funny and more like softcore porn/horror than anything clever or scary.
On the subject of snuff style movies, I'd recommend the film "vacancy", which stars Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsdale. Not gory at all but just a decent, tense thriller about a couple who check into a remote hotel and discover they may be about to star in their own snuff movie.
I thought the first hostel film was quite absorbing, though some of the more grisly scenes were totally unneccesary. The second hostel movie was laughable and you may actually enjoy it- but only if you treated it as a comedy! I think the director Eli Roth fancies himself as a bit of a genius The first 2 Saw films were quite clever, the 3rd and 4th were abysmal, just milking the franchise for all it's worth. The re-make of "the hills have eyes" was surprisingly good I thought, as was the re-make of "the texas chainsaw massacre".
"Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller
The films mentioned are not in "Snuff Style". The only way this could be possible would be if the film had people really dying in it.
as a matter of interest has anyone known someone that has seen a real one. i havent unless you count the propaganda snuff that comes out on the internet from iraq/afghan/chechnya . some horrific $#@! is only 1 click away that seriously $#@!s with your head.
Ah, cheers. I understand now.
Anyways, I like a gid horror film, Shrooms is the newest one I have seen, has a great twist at the end.
Also as mentioned above I liked the Hils HAve Eyes remake, anyone seen the 2nd one and care to comment as I was looking to buy it.
Is that they one with a fat geek who lives with his mum, that is the suited gimp that kills them and sexualy assualts them?
If so then I was sitting watching that a while ago with a beer and (Cough) a fag willing for Nicholas Cage to catch the feker and severly torture him lol.
Found the film a little disturbing though.
I dinnae normally watch any of these type of movies, find them boring tbh! However I was forced into watching Saw a couple of years ago and I thought it was good! Does this make me a sicko?! If so feck it!
Trying to forget something as intriguing as this would be an exercise in futility.
But alot of people watch them for the very same reasons they would say, get on a rollercoaster. They want to feel fear without actually being in any immediate danger. Thus making the sensation a bit enjoyable. However getting yer jollies off to such material is very, very sick. Although just watching films like this (not ott mind you) is not sick imo.
If you watched a film (not horror) about a love story for example, but a child dies in it. Would you classify that as sick?
The child might not be seen as being brutally murderd in the film but then again it still shows him/her dying.
Machiavelli was soemthing approaching a genius - he challenged the moral authority of religion, and sussed out human nature brialliantly - years before his time
His name has been banded out about and become synonomous with 'bad' or 'cruel' or 'sneaky' when IMHO he was none of the above per se
unsure whether to post this or not but over the last few days a video has been released on the internet from DNIPRO. giving away no links or gory details but it looks to be the worst/disturbing video to be found and is being totally unreported in the press and even google searching for it can be difficult. however some poor sod has been filmed being severly tortured then killed without reason apart from being an innocent passer by. the worst thing is he is 1 of a massive 21 people murdered by this gang who have now been caught and are in jail and only this video has found its way into the public eye. it seems the gang done this purely for entertaimnent reasons only. dont think i could watch this but im sure there are the usual suspects that get off on this kind of thing. could be the first proper snuff movie to be released onto the net.
News Report of the Three 20yo Kids who Killed 21 People in One Month in Ukraine
The action against the so-called maniacs in Dnepropetrovsk is to be examined today. They are 20-year-old Igor Suprunyuck, Viktor Sayenko and Alexander Hanzha. The court incriminates 21 murders, serious bodily assaults and tortures on animals. Segodnya reports it with a reference to prosecutor office in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. The crimes are characterized by cruelty. Passersby, males, females, children were their victims. The guys traced them, attacked, beat them with metal tube to death. Also they were shooting dreadful scenes on their mobile phones. Investigators and psychologists did not manage to ascertain motives of crimes. The court has to explain it. The regional prosecutor officials declared they would not give comments until the sentence is passed on. As lawyers state, the judge Ivan Senchenko has a big experience and many people hope he will make a proper decision about it.
Don't. The first Hills Have Eyes (well, the remake) is a decent horror in terms of suspense and a bit of gore. The second one is pure garbage, it has no point other than an outlet for violence.
I like horror films or violent films if there is some kind of meaning for it. I liked Saw 1 because it was clever and made you think, I though Hostel was ganting becuase it wasn't. I remember watching Hostel with a few mates and found myself laughing at it: not because I find violence funny, but because it was so stupid. The "torture" scenes in 24 are good because they are realistic and have a puropse.
In terms of games, did anyone ever play Manhunt? I'm sure it was banned shortly after release but may have resurfaced. It was all about killing in the most brutal way possible. Fun for about 5 minutes before it just becomes stupid and pointless. Games like Call of Duty or Rainbow Six invlolve killing people, but not for the sake of it.
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do
Is it on Yachoob ?
I dont believe there is any out there. Its just not feasible. Im not saying people dont film people getting killed but i dont believe you can find it on the net, ala snuff movie.
I remember hearing about 'Snuff Videos' before computers had taken over. We all believed it but no-one seen one. If the film is out there ? I cannot believe that authorities/media would not tell the world.
Can't stick horror films really, especially torture porn. I would disagree about Tarantino, his earlier films are really well written and not at all gore splattered. The best bits about Reservoir Dogs revolve around fantastic dialogue. Kill Bill was, however, awful.
anyone who watches snuff movies is a nonce and deserves the "wisdom of the baseball bat"
Have you seen the movie Irreversible. It has a graphic rape scene and a scene where a guy smashes another guys head in with a fire extiguisher.
The guys who made it reckon that the future in special effects is to make acts of violence look as near to real life as possible because thats what the public want.. The scenes in Irreversible freaked me out . If they made a snuff movie using special effects but didn't tell people, would people watch it or is the attraction of a snuff movie the fact that it's for real.
Snuff. Doesn't it make you sneeze?
