    Australian Hibs: A Beer Question

I ate at America's favorite "Australian" eatery "Outback" tonight and I had a J.Boag & Son Lager. I thought it was pretty nasty. What do native Australians think of this beer? I though t it tasted a lot like Budweiser (which I detest). What do you think?

I remember Boags as being pretty decent stuff in Australia, I think it's Tazmanian, could be wrong though. Maybe they brew something different (ie. flavourless) for the American market

Re: Australian Hibs: A Beer Question

Boag's beer is indeed from Tassie, it's not bad by Australian standards and certainly better than American fizz like Bud but it's still nasty lager! IMHO the best Aussie beers I've had since arriving here last September are produced by James Squire and some of the micro breweries. Loving it out here but really miss British real ales like Belhaven, Taylor's and the like.
