    Keats suffering depression

James Keatings has opened up in the media today that he has been suffering with serious depression. Credits his agent and Jason for supporting him in getting help. Brave to open up but 100% the right thing to do.

Sending him every good wish. He's a legend and the one who ran the other way
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

    Not immune?

Probably more susceptible than most other professions when they live in a bubble.

If James Keatings ever feels the black dog is circling him, he just needs to go for a pint (or a coffee) in the Leith area and he will realise he is loved, and respected by so many.

My best wishes to Keats - as I'm sure you will all agree.

    Man's a legend.

    Great tattoo too.

Very brave thing to do, and he will in all probability suffer for doing so.
David Cox opened up about his demons and suffered all sorts of stupidity from fans , and fellow players.

I'm delighted to say he received help from Peterhead FC at the time.

But the deadheads will taunt Keats , too. Hope he stays strong.
    Ever play this game chief?

He has my 100% sympathy. It's a brutal condition.
I've been known to suffer bouts of the $#@! of the thing myself unfortunately. Knowing where to reach out for help is the key. I've been close a couple of times to asking on here for advice when it kicks in , but for one reason or another , I've chosen not too.

If you feel like that then don’t hesitate to ask for advice on here, plenty folk be happy to try and help.

Good luck James Keatings sounds like a tough year for him

I posted a thread on here a few years ago when I had anxiety and panic attacks, lots of good replies, there's also a depression thread on kickback.net.
Been seriously struggling for about 18 months, totally different feeling this time, doctor says it's most likely depression as I score really high on the nhs test.
Back on anti D s but can't go on a high dose due to other medical conditions!
I don't have any answers but keeping as busy as possible helps.
Lost my brother years ago and have the same medical condition he had, throw in type 2 diabetes and coeliac disease.I'm very open and happy to talk about these conditions but only a very few people know about my mental health which is pretty poor show.
The importance of keats and Lennon talking about their struggles is massive.

Over here in Ireland thankfully there is an increased awareness and support for mental health. It happens to us all at some stage or level, i found it tough when my father passed away and just got on with it as best i could. I was living in England at the time and was back and forward to Scotland and bereavement hit me hard.

We all need support. There are a large number of support organisations here in Ireland I can pass on with their website details if anyone wants. The group's here may offer some help online.

    thanks @Smurf and @1875.
The mind is a very strange and complex thing. My work have a healthy working lives group with topics covered each month.Thought this I realised I had type 2 diabetes, but the thing that really hit home was a simple poster, and I'm paraphrasing, saying the one who is always laughing or trying to make other laugh is often the one struggling the most.Pretty much sums me up.It would probably shock people if they actually knew how I felt.
anti D s are help but in also trying an nhs site called mood zone which is helping me to realise what some of the potential issues are, changing them is a different matter.
Lucky I have an amazing wife who is helping immensely, she seems to know when the darkness descends before I do.
cheer for the support and an extra thanks to @brianmc for his message last night, sorry for the one word reply.
on a slightly positive note, bare with me,I've totally fecked my back and chest, agony to even breath and was given a course of diazepam,so I'm the most chilled I've been in years

As a clinically depressed, suicidal, functioning alcoholic, it's actually weird to know a legend is on your level. $#@!s fucced up. Worst thing is, some folk toss you aside.

I spoke to Keats at the game last night and told him he was always welcome within the Hibs support, he was one of us. He really appreciated it.

I did likewise before kick-off at his seat with his daughter. Told him he is a legend.
