    Top 80s Tracks

This is still probably my favourite 80s pop track. Dunno if I should be embarrassed or what? What the hell...

I think I perhaps get my romanticised view of pubs and perhaps even being a man from the original video. Luckily, not the fashion...

    Any more for any more?

So do I. Great decade for pop music IMO.
I could nominate many songs from the 80's amongst my favourites.

    Careless Whisper; George Michael
    True; Spandau Ballet
    All of my Heart; ABC
Say Hello wave good bye : Soft Cell
    Fade to Grey; Visage

Just five off the top of my head.

I was at school with Martin 'Mental' Metcalfe lead singer with Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie. They were originally a Bathgate group before relocating to Edinburgh where they could get more exposure. That's where they linked up with Shirley Manson now of Garbage.
I still have an original demo tape of theirs from about 1980 that I got from their then bass player, Chuck Parker, who sadly died of a brain tumour a couple of years ago.

    That's a top tune Brains

Also agree with @Davy re Vienna.

As far as I can tell this was released in 1980 although the vid says 1979. Apologies if it was 1979 but it's a cracking piece of music imo.

In case my previous effort gets thrown out of court I'll go for this one below. I was minded of it when I saw @Sir Shrink was lurking and for some reason I thought back to the day I picked him up from the train station to go and meet Frenchman for a pint [special glass and all ]. This and other OMD classics were playing in the car on the drive down to civilisation.

Great tune, had forgotten the video.

    Enola gay - omd

My friends electric - Gary numan

Both in the traditional 80s synth genre but at the end of the eighties things got really interesting with Acid, Techno, House, Madchester and Indie Dance.

Different genre...but any 80s list has to have The Jam on it. Unfortunately some of my personal favourites span the turn of the decade between the 70s and 80s but of the ones in the 80s Town Called Malice a stand out and still brings the house down at Weller gigs. Also the transformation to the Style Council and Long Hot Summer and You're the best thing.
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

80s music was the bomb, so diverse at the time.

    Ashes to Ashes - Bowie
    I Travel - Simple Minds
Where The Streets Have No Name - U2
    Over You - Roxy Music
The Killing Moon - Echo & The Bunneymen
    Venus - Bananarama
    Stop ! - Erasure
Once In a Lifetime - Talking Heads

    Game Over:

"Go with the flow, move as you know, jam the mike up, rock the disco, funky music I can't get enough, you know what it is....I'm just street tuff".

Lyrics that influenced many of our lifestyle choices ja?

Rebel now has a string of Hot Chicken Take Away outlets in Basingstoke and mostly enjoys listening to his Tatties rattling off his wife's farter.
