    Ben Lomond

Intended to climb simple tourist route tomorrow...but I see it is still covered in snow, going to give it a go anyway, has anyone else climbed it in the snow?

Unless you have a bit if experience of even the easiest routes during a Scottish winter, do yourself a favour and stay well clear until about June

I think the answer is in your post. Seeing as you don't know then don't do it. @Beagle is right, wait till the summer.

Decided to have a run there and was surprisingly pleasant. Snow from halfway up but a handful of hardy souls making their way up. Very misty and cold up near top but not windy. Took diff route coming down. went off track and ended up getting leg caught in one foot snow marsh, had to dig leg out. Came down through a forest. Was bit crazy and lost count of falls on back sides and front. Came out on west highland way. Good day out though 😁

It was actually much easier than I thought it would be, the way up is pretty clear and then a bit of climbing near the top.

I decided on it because I seen it when I was out at Kinloch Rannoch for a day, thought it looked awesome because it has a proper pointy looking summit.
Googled it, learnt about it's history, of weighing the world of all things.
Made it absolutely have to be my first.

Apparently it's normally the last one people do

Haven't done many myself. Ben Lomond on a nice day around 35 years ago, path one day and mountaineering the next day both at Buachaille Etive Mor at age around 28 and then Ben Nevis in the summer about 6 years ago. Need to try bag a couple more before I'm pensioned off

Try climbing the Pentlands from Dreghorn, straight up the grass hill, seems to go on and on

I've climbed 84 so far, quite a few in the winter. As with anything though there is risk even with all the right gear. Sometimes the weather wins and you have tae ken when tae sack it, the mountains will be there a lot longer than any of us and will be there tae be done again. Was going tae stick up a few pics but cannae seem tae get attachments tae work

Actually reasonably easy going on decent paths most of the way, boulder field of several hundred yards for the last bit tae the top, particularly right at the top, easy enough tae pick yer way over though. The top you can just see peeking through at the back.

And a nice cool one of these at the top, a bottle of Schiehallion on top of Schiehallion
