Sheep consigned to out of town $#@!hole

Their plans for a new stadium bang in the centre of nowhere got the go ahead from planners today. Will be interesting to watch what happens - could have been us.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an outcry from their fans.

In all seriousness, there are plus points from the Sheep viewpoint. Things depend on how much assistance the local politicians give them.
Several of the new stadiums in England are in out of the way places. A few that were depressingly desolate and isolated when they opened were redeemed sooner or later by new roads, bus services and retail outlets. That's not to say that some are not still depressings dives. I'm not familiar with the location of the proposed Sheepshagger Field development, but it can't be irredeemable. Pittodrie probably is.

Their crowds haven’t exactly been great of late, doubt a new stadium out in the sticks will improve that.

Only because Milne is a house builder who sees sea front land beside a golf course are prime residential development.

I think the sheep have moved the location of the new ground? It was meant to be just off the A90 at Charlestown, which I think might have worked? The new location is further along the ring road out at the Hazelhead golf course? Not as appealing. Someone told me the majority of Aberdeen fans come from the surrounding areas instead of Aberdeen itself, and the new bypass makes it a sensible option. That someone wasn't an especially big football fan.
Whereever it goes, it will be $#@!e compared to Pittodrie.

Myself, @wee 162 and @PILTONSTANY were talking about this yesterday.

Kingsford looks roughly 6 miles away from the centre of Aberdeen and 3miles away from anything of note.

Having a ground inaccessible to walk to or with any retail/business/pubs about is madness (only options is drive or bus - they're no putting on 200 buses before and after the game, this isnae Inverness crowds).

Is Milne expecting Aberdeen to grow outrageously west?!

Mental move. $#@! them. Aberdeen fans have been doing my head in recently. The numbers on social media supporting Gunts claim to be bigger than us surprised me. Then of course they were bigger than the Gunts. Size obsessed sheep shagging in bred tossers. They've had a very good team in recent seasons and their support at home has been pish.

I expect public transport contingencies have been put forward with the planning.
There will also be retail consortia at the ready to get on board with development. As for pubs, it'll be your standard Frankie and Benny, McDonald's, type area with a Brewer's Fayre and Wetherspoons maybe all closed to visiting fans on match days.
It may start off life as a stadium like a desert island but retail and housing will be hot on its heels.
    Game's rigged, why bother?

Regan says Aberdeen needs a new stadium.

    God has spoken.

Absolutely expected but retail and new roads willnae help get punters oot from the city centre to their. A rail link must surely be a massive consideration.

A space station up here in Aberdeen is more likely than a decent rail link - we haven’t even got one to the airport in what was the Oil & Gas Capital of Europe at one point. I can only imagine what visitors think of the place. The council up here have no vision or concept of what will work best for its constituents.

The Sheep have been determined to have a stadium and training centre combined which limited their options and ruled out redeveloping Pittodrie. Many people see Milne pushing it to get the land Pittodrie is currently on but that’s not the case - he will need to bid for it like everyone else. The area is a $#@!-hole so there will need to be major regeneration plans for the rest of the area to really boost the potential of the Pittodrie site.

Maybe the plan is to drive s truck through the green belt to open up the land around it for development. I wonder who owns it.

I work in Aberdeen during the week and the sheep i work with are very divided on this matter . Milne would indeed love to develop the pitoddrie ground , thought he actually owned it , but as has been said above , the area it is in , seaton , is a $#@! hole ! Many argue that the small business es in the area would suffer badly , with the pubs n king Street all but closing .
