    When SJM leaves

I reckon we already have a replacement for him in the squad.

Slivka is as much a right mid as I am a super model IMO. Whenever he's played through the middle he looks like he can run with the ball, create chances and also battle. Thoughts?

He’s just not had enough game time to make a good call on it either way. If SJM does leave us this window (which I don’t think he will) he goes as a legend and one of the best midfielders I’ve seen at Hibs.

Slivka does have something about him, technically very good with decent pace, maybe he would thrive in a team without SJM in it?

Mmm, that's where I sit. We haven't the information yet to figure out if he's really any good. But he is an international, so... ;)

All I want to see is the money we get for him, should he leave, to be re-invested back into the squad. Not 100% of it, necessarily, because that's not the reality of Scottish football - but a good chunk needs to go directly onto the park.

I think that's what the manager will demand.

I think Slivka was brought to the club on a 3 year deal to play in central midfield when John McGinn leaves. I also think we need to be bringing in another midfielder because I fear Dylan McGeogh may be leaving either this month or the summer although like every fan I hope he eventually signs a new deal. Either way Lennon has to prepare the way for the future when this team starts to break up and it requires to be re-built with mainly his own players in it rather than Alan Stubbs players. I have not been all that impressed with Slivka in the fleeting appearances he has made so far but he certainly looks out of position on the right side of midfield. I thought he done quite well when he came on yesterday.

The key thing when McGinn goes is that the overall standards are not allowed to drop. People say he will be hard to replace and he will be, but it's the managers job to make sure he is replaced properly and the team continues to progress. Like every Hibs fan I will be sad to see such a great young player leave especially as he has attained legendary status at the club for what he has achieved in his 2 and a half years here. However he is just one player and the team's continued development is much more important. A real test of Lennon's management skills awaits in the near future.

I'd just like to say, that's a very good point.

The team needs to progress, and that doesn't necessarily mean we look for a like-for-like replacement for Super John when it comes time to invest.

Without a pic that's hard to agree or disagree with.

But I'm happy to do without evidence on this rare occasion.

Bouncer heard a solid story that a deal had been agreed - but I hope he stays a bit longer.

I think ALL the money will be re-invested in the squad. We have arrangements in place to pay off STF, and (despite some of the weirdos posting otherwise) the majority of the Board take nothing out the club, and shareholders don't get paid a dividend............ where else will the money go?

It probably won't be spent all at once, but we have a tidy stadium and (unless we plan on filling in the corners) I reckon we will have a pool of cash to use to attract and retain a decent squad.

The 'new fans' or returnees have demonstrated that a bit of success on the park can pay off in spades. I'm sure we all - fans AND board want to continue the upward spiral.

Remember there's a sizable chunk of SJMs fee will go to St Mirren. 30% if I recall correctly so we'll be left with .....closed fee!

I'm not intimately familiar with the Hibs finances so I'm happy to take your advice on the subject, bud. I'm just assuming that there are other outgoings that could be serviced and, if history is anything to go by, will be.

I'm pretty comfortable that the days of replacing Scott Brown with Brian Kerr are past.

That info came from St Midden, but Rodders said ‘not so’.

I’m sure there will be a sizeable wedge going their way without doubt.
