    Orcs game line up

Injuries will likely dictate who plays but who would you choose to play them?

Lennon surprised people with his Mordor line up, so anything is possible.

Stokes will be turbo powered- so expect a fine performance or a red card or both
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

It is a game we need the calibre of stokes, on his game. That said today we never lost without excelling so Wednesday brings a new and completely different challenge.

I would go with 2 out n out strikers upfront but our pace on the wings makes a hard choice for formation. Would still like to stick with Barker not just to hear cubix if he scores but there is something defiantly in his locker.

If we are playing Stokes I’d want him partnered with Shaw from the start. Hitting Rangers early will be key to this tie. If they go two up I wouldn’t expect them to be going for a cricket score and leaving themselves exposed like Celtic did.

    4-4-2?

    Rocky
    Whittaker Efe Hanlon Stevenson
    Bartley
    Boyle Dylan SJM
    Stokes
    Shaw

Don't agree with leaving our top goalscorer out - what exactly has he done wrong? He wasn't even that bad versus Partick Thistle and had scored a fine goal the week before. For me he'd one of the first names on the team sheet. If it is because of the argument that he can't play alongside Stokes, drop Stokes? Having said that they seemed to play ok together in the last game against the huns..

Agree with that formation and team. Would'nt mind Murray for Shaw either.

IMO he will have to change the team around a bit due to having three games in 6 days against the top three sides in the country. Murray IMO is unfortunate not to be playing, he has been an excellent signing so far. I think he will play against the Rangers. It's the full back areas which concern me the most.

I really rate Murray and I think he will play an important role in us having a good season. So it’s absoslutley not a comment on him. That Stokes Shaw partnership looked very dangerous yesterday though. Starting with that then having Murray come on later to attack a tiring defence with his pace is very appealing.

Be delighted with this but I'd maybe go with Murray ahead of Shaw.

I agree, I thought Whittaker was poor yesterday, easy beat, easy outrun.

Looked like he was struggling with a recurrence of his injury....he could hardly run at all. Lennon must have been assured that he was properly match fit to start a big game like yesterdays but it didn't look like it to me.

I'd go with 352 with Boyle at right wing back but I wouldn't be disappointed with 4 at the back with Daz & Paul in the middle and Efe at right back if Whittaker or Gray are struggling with injuries.
Seems like there's a hole in my dreams, or so it seems

i can only assume he was signed as a midfielder? I think you'd struggle to find a slower full back in scotland right now.

Spot on. Whitty was starting to get fitter and back to good performances then injury showed up again.

I agree leave Whittaker out go for Daz, Efe, Paul and Lewy as back 4. SJM, Barts and Dylan in midfield, Stokesie as a no 10, Boyler right wing. Toss up between Simon Murray and Shaw at c/f. Hopefully Danny Swanson gets 20 minutes or so to vary it a bit. We must be wary of cross balls - how many times have we been caught out by Tavernier?

A fair few Huns missing for this game, hopefully we turn up and do them over. Deffo have to go with a 3-5-2 set up. Up front for me has to be Stokes and Murray, but what will NL be thinking??

Stokes will want to show up against this lot, and he's our highest pedigree player who can also handle the pressure of playing those mutants; something that I reckon a lot of people will underestimate the importance of.

Make no mistake - this lot will be coming for blood and their horrible, pus-ridden, subterranean supporters will be baying for it. This is especially due to having lost three in a row to us, and considering that this is their first visit to Easter Road since we robbed them of their first major honour so wonderfully. We already know that the officials will be of absolutely no help to Hibs, because they almost never are, and "Rangers" will bring a certain physicality to the game as a result of that. We got a great result against Celtic at the weekend, but there was no real pressure on us because it was a game we were expected to lose (particularly from two down) and this particular fixture is going to be as mentally demanding as physically.

    Maybe more so.

For that reason, Bartley has to play in order to protect our back line and Whittaker shouldn't if he's carrying an injury. The zombie thugs will only make it worse. I think that leads to 3-5-2, which both covers our lack of a right back and helps us to control the middle of the park better. For me, Oli Shaw looks a real prospect but this is a match too soon for him. I say protect the lad, and let Simon Murray go out there and do what he does best - score goals.

I largely think the rest of the team picks itself. Marciano, Stevenson, Hanlon, Ambrose, Barker, Boyle, McGeouch, McGinn, Bartley, Stokes and Murray. We have a couple of options to change it up if need be, both offensively and defensively, and that may end up being important by the end.

Like the look of that . I expect us to be a bit more on the front foot than Sunday which will help fire up the crowd. They're a team at our level for me but if Stokes is fired up properly we should be ok.

My turn for being on the train....

3-5-2 has had the beating of them for some time and will continue if deployed.

Rocky at fault for that second goal, felt he could have done better with the first one too. Left his front post wide open. We had the game well under control. However another 45 minutes to turn things around, the boys up front need to link up better.

Hanlon has to do better at the second, to be fair the boy hits it with so much power it’s not an easy one for the goalkeeper but he should have stayed big.

Yet again we’ve been punished for not taking our chances in a game we’ve dominated. Big second half, need to play with the same belief we did for the first 35 minutes. It’s not like we’ve never came back from 1-2 down against them before...
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do

Jesus fcukin Christ, how we are behind I'll never know.

Oh wait. Because we dominate games but don't score.

Boyle squares that ball, it's 2-0. Instead, they've scored with virtually the only times they've been near us during the end of that half. Sickening.

    Ref predictably ridiculous.

Better get a fcukin grip second half. Shaw not working, not had a kick. Change required, methinks.

Hanlon was skinned inside and out, he should have done much better. I think Rocky left a big gap at his near post and could have done better too. Big second half coming up. Shaw off, Barker on. Right move I think.

Poor from Rocky, gap wasn’t even there until he dives out the way! Think he was pre-empting a fizzed ball across goal.

    FFS Barker off the post!!

Still not convinced with Stokes since he's joined us.... Watch him bag a double in the next ten minutes.

Getting some great balls in the box, just don't have that big presence in the box to put his head on them.

Agree, Rocky actually dived out the way of the second, he was expecting the shot across goal and anticipating that actively to where he thought it would go. Should have stood up and guarded his near post.

I wasn't in favour of starting Shaw today - too much too soon. He'd have been in ideal sub again.

Can’t believe we’ve not won that - Barker so unlucky not to bag a couple of goals.

Hunbelievable! Better team by far and clear penalty. When will Rocky learn about his near post for $#@!s sake.

Hunbelievable alright! Defeat against those morons is very harsh. We did make mistakes but deserved a draw at least. They hacked and fouled all the way through. Pity about Shaw he never got a kick of the ball. Barker was good when he came on. So sore one to take

I found the formation strange with both Murray and Oli up front

The lads stopped playing for about 15 minutes and paid the price. The rest of the game we pissed all over them. Big Dave in the last 15 minutes might have made a difference. Some great balls in to the box just nobody on the end of them. We need more from Stokes, he's shown flashes here and there, but that's it.

It was ballsy but didn’t pay off but glad Lennon went for it as we are better than Sevco and I’m sure at end of season that will be shown.

Lennon was far to hot heided tonight with his 3 striker plus Boyle gamble as it just wasn't necessary.

I wonder if his hatred of both "Scotland's Shame 1873" and "Scotland's Shame 2012" got the better of him and he decided to teach them a lesson and go for broke.

Unfortunately Shaw, Stokes and Murray didn't seem to know where to play probably as they never played in such a formation since primary school.

It didn't cost us the game though as that looked like more individual errors from Efe and Hanlon and the goalie.

Some positives though as McGeoch was great as was Lewis and Daz and BB was a complete revelation though SJM was a huge disappointment being dominated by Holt.

On another day we would have got the draw our play deserved but you cant help think Lennon only had to line us up in his usual big game way playing Marvin and matching up player for player and playing the odds rather than the 'I'm ah big man making the big calls" routine.
