    Trump-Jerusalem

What's his game ? What's he trying to prove or provoke? Does he scare everyone as he does me?
Interested to hear folks views, who know and understand a lot more than I do on the matter.
@egb would be all over this I'm sure .

On a side note , watching trump on the news tonight, he looks more ridiculous everytime I see him. That in itself is a feat, as he looked like a big shreddie right from the start. It is the equivalent of Jimmy Krankie being Scotland manager!!!, though of course , a lot more serious sadly.

While he was bleating on about Israel the GOP were sticking through bills to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines

A spike in Islamic Fundementalist terror attacks is the likely result of this. Which plays into the Trump narrative. He strikes me as the sort of man who would be fine with a few thousands deaths if it proved him right.

The right have such an odd relationship with Israel. On the one hand they love the idea of a tightly confined, militarised ethno-state. On the other they don't like jews much, usually.

A jewish friend of mine pointed out that it's a win-win though. Because by saying that jews should live in Israel they can define those elsewhere as foreigners.

I see that it's controversial but I suspect if you'd asked me a few days ago what the capital of Israel was, there's a good chance I'd have plumped for Jerusalem.
    so what do I know

It was an ignorant, tone-deaf and mindless thing to say.

The worst part is that I suspect he knows that, and simply doesn't care.

The UN, and most respected world leaders, have expressly stated that it was a stupid thing for him to say; including America's allies. In the most general terms (and it's a HUGELY complex issue), they all support the two-state final arrangement in line with UN Security Council Resolution 478:

United Nations Security Council Resolution 478 - Wikipedia

America abstained on that vote, of course, which means Trump has effectively decided to diplomatically ignore it.

Unfortunately, it'd be tone-deaf of us to simply ignore that America is perhaps uniquely influenced by the weight of Jewish lobbyists.

That still doesn't excuse this choice. He's an extremely dangerous man to be in charge of any country, let-alone the United States.

Believe me when I tell that that Trump is, by far, the most dangerous man on the planet. We can only hope that the American political system recognizes the threat and does everything it can to stop him taking the planet to the brink.

He seems happy enough to go there. We can only hope he can't.
