If I recall correctly he's being a little economical with the truth here, he was up cheering with the rest of the bench.

It's an after dinner talk. Plenty room for exaggeration and jokes, it got a laugh.

When we score on Sunday he'll be back to cheering!

I’m not his greatest fan, but not bothered by this.

You’d think we are playing by them sometime soon...

Anyone seen the lee sharp one about the night cantina clobbered the fan? He talks about robson and Hughes being there when they’d left man united.

As above, it’s after dinner stuff. Don’t take it too seriously.

    Link not working for me.
If it's the same one I saw on Twitter earlier it cuts Lenny off half way through his sentence - I'd be interested to hear his full comment!

*Of course if it's a different clip just ignore me! 🤔

As I've said elsewhere, and seems I've upset some by saying so, I'm disappointed in Neil with this. I know he's a Celtic man but he's employed by Hibs. We are a competitor of Celtic and I think it's a wee bit disrespectful to our club his employer to speak like this. Anyone imagine a Celtic manager speaking at a Hibs supporters function like this? Thought not. Seems for some because it's Celtic it's fine. $#@! this cosy relationship with them. They are utter scum just like the flip side of the coin of sectarianism in Scotland.

It's no different that Leigh Griffiths sitting in the stand or supporting Hibs. Lennon is a Celtic man and I'm fine with that. He more than proved that he is fully committed to Hibs the last time we played them.

Sorry but what's the story supposed to be here?

Neil Lennon cares less about his job because he had a life before Hibs and will have one after?
Or, even worse - Neil Lennon makes a joke at an after dinner speaking gig?

For anyone who doesn't like this - should the club be disciplining him or taking action against him for it?

    Total non-story.

Think I said on matchday thread he spent plenty time clapping the soap dodgers and we got a thumbs up. Video says he told bench to sit down. I'd like to see whole video

"Lenny" as the Smellies call him, is a Smelly Legend and probably always will be. He played, captained, managed, and lauded them for years of success.

He made a joke, whilst in the company of a bunch of Smellies who identify him as being a fellow Smelly.
Can't say it bothered me. I've made much unfunnier jokes.

He DID actually jump up and celebrate when Hibs scored - and while he will no doubt always have an affinity with the 'dodgers I'm pretty sure he was just as keen as the rest of us to turn them over, and that's exactly what he will be planning to do on Sunday.

I can live with him being worshipped by the soap dodging hordes; see if they still cheer him when he takes the 'unbeaten' record away.

The bench all jumped about when we scored,Celtic fans i’ve spoken to have confirmed it.

I’m easy if they want to lap up his stories.....

I think there's a bit of a subtext to the faithful there, 'I still want you to know I'm one of you, not one of them'.

I don't rate what he said there much but it doesn't bother or surprise me.

The fact is, nearly all football people are just hired hands, I never lose sight of that. They're professionals hired to do a job.

No interest in labouring this little business but it would be interesting to see the different reaction to it if Hibs were losing every game and bottom of the table currently.

I greatly like what Lennon is doing for Hibs, feel he's doing a very good job and absolutely make allowances due to that but I don't kid myself that he's 'changed'.

It looks like the night with Neil Lennon things he’s been doing in glasgow recently. There was a deal on groupon, the wife asked me if I fancied it. I didn’t because I think it’s aimed at the green and gormless.

Imagine the reaction if Alex Miller, Blobby or Butcher had said something similar at a Hun love in social evening while managing Hibs

Well it's not really, because it wasn't on the field of play.

I would rather he didn't say these things, but he really is just playing to the crowd I think. Making sure his pension pot keeps getting topped up for years to come. He was totally scathing when Motherwell lost a player and were given a penalty in the cup final.

We all laugh and lap it up when sparky is filmed in pubs singing Hibs songs, clapping the fans etc, we can't have it both ways.

Players, managers, and board members are always likely to have supported another team and sadly this being Scotland it's likely one of the uglies. As long as when they represent Hibs they are able to shove it up their supposed heroes the way Ivan Sproule did to the Huns then I'm happy. If they appear to roll over and let the bears scratch their tummy the way MacInnes has this last week then that's a different matter. So far Lennon's performances against Celtic have been excellent.

Exactly this. Lennon is 100% behind Hibs and gives it his all. As far back as I can remember, we've never had a manager come out and back the club like he has. He takes no $#@! and says it exactly how it is. Never see Lennon hiding.

The "Boaby", "Lexo" or "Butcher" comparison is so true as there would be a 10 page thread of apoplectic raging Hibs fans had any of these previous managers made such a "joke".

It actually already happened on here when Ivan Sproule celebrated on the Easter Road pitch with his fellow "Scotland's Shame 1873" fans when Hibs and "Scotland's Shame 1873" carved up the league title and the Europa League place in the infamous last 15 minute kick about.

Cant say Ivan bothered me anymore than Lennon's tasteless quip as all it highlights is that some football fans are blindingly hypocritical and managers and players are hired guns nothing more.

I love the fact he is Hibs manager, he has changed, he is manager of Hibs now.

I will be just as interested to see the adoration shown to Sparky on Sunday, he disnae hide he is one of us, and how the same punters that take exception to Neil Lennon making a joke at a celtic function laud Leigh.

I've decided in my own mind there's nowt more fickle than a football fan.

I'm on record as having spoken to the man that, in my opinion turned NL round from being a celtc/ned spitting ner do well to someone that is more considered, calculating and really just more thoughtful.

We are so much getting the best of him. For want of a better word he's matured but lost none of his fire.

I don't think Sparky will even be on the bench. Not after his Hampden performance against us. That was pathetic, if I was celtc minded. But relieved as an opposition club supporter he didn't want to play.

I love the fact he is Hibs manager as well as I made clear.

He hasn't changed, he just has a different job.

I don't particularly laud Leigh Griffiths nor adore him, he's a Celtic player and that's that. The Celtic faithful are not fond of his support for Hibs as far as I'm aware but that's their problem which I care nothing about.

Leigh griffiths is a Celtic player who takes every opportunity talking to the media to tell them he’s a hibs fan. I love that. Wouldn’t applaud him in a Celtic jersey though.

And if Leigh was at a Hibs function could you imagine the publicity and furore if he was to joke that he deliberately missed chances when playing for them against us?

I guess the point here is that football fans like to think that anyone who plays for and manages their team is fully committed and loves the club as much as they do.

The reality is though, that you will only ever get the former - and I believe Neil Lennon is fully committed to his job at Hibs.

Anyone who thinks he will ever love the club the way that any supporter does is deluded. So by all means I don't expect anyone to like the fact that he did this but you have to accept it one way or another.
