    Great Hibs v Thellick Games.....

There has been a few, obviously and generally because we have beaten them, although for large parts of the recent visit to Thellickpark, Hibs were excellent and we have done them a few times through there.

My won favourites was the 6 3 win in a friendly in the January of 1985, where Benny Brazil scored a hatrick. The game was played due to the harsh winter cancelling most matches, with Hibs being one of the few clubs to have undersoil heating, we took on the lesser greens and skelped them, in front of a small 5000 crowd at very short notice.

Many people didnt even know we had played them and read the sunday papers the next morning shocked not only at Hibs handsome win but at the fact Benny, a hapless centre half, now a bus driver with LRT, scoring 3. Brilliant game watched from the old north enclosure.

    Anyone?

When we beat them 3-1 at ER in 1988 when Archibald got 2. We were 3-0 up at half time and absolutely ripped up a decent Celtic team ( they had won the double the season before I think?).

Especially sweet as was the first game v them at ER since the cs gas cannister had been thrown onto the pitch. Only time my dad ever took me away from a game early and was scary as hell for me as a kid.

My first ever Hibs game was a 1-0 win v the Smellies early 1990, not a great game (think Kano scored a pen?) but it gave me the bug.

    Other good ones:

3-2 win at Celtic Park ‘92-ish after we had beaten them there 2-1 not long before during the previous season

3-2 win 2007 Boruc makes a complete arse of himself

“The Squiggler” game - Boruc does it again!

Our last win at Celtic Park. Galbraith right at the end, superb scenes, and went some way to getting Mowbray the tin tack. At least half our mini bus got ejected during that game for various reasons!

Galbraiths injury time winner in late January 2010 was a great night, some celebrations

Think Bennys hat trick in 85 was a classic left foot, right foot, header, was also in north enclosure.

The two great cup wins in 85/86 at ER, 4-4 and 4-3..

    3-1 at parkhead under Mowbray

A few crackers already mentioned: In no particular order...

1/ 1974 League cup final...yes I know we lost 6-3 but it was my first ever visit to Hampden and even as a naïve wee 9 year old it was still something special to see Stein's Celtic in full flow. Hibs actually done quite well (apart from our defence) and Joe Harper scored a hat-trick.

2/ 4-4 Skol Cup q/f in 1985. Best game I have ever seen at Easter Road. Goals galore and both teams attacked constantly. Memorable penalty miss from Pearce O'Leary to send Hibs into the semi's.

3/ The aforementioned 6-3 win at Easter Road including Benny's hat-trick which he completed with a penalty. I also watched that game from the old enclosure as I was a regular there at that time.

4/ 4-3 Scottish Cup win in 1986. Eddie May scoring the winner in the last minute.

5/ 3-2 win in 2007 with Dean Shiels scoring the winner. I remember I had just returned home from a holiday in Toronto the day before and was still a bit jet lagged. Great game and win to come home to.

6/ 3-1 win at Celtic park in 2004/5. I wasn't there but the highlights were fantastic and so were our goals. A great result at a place where hardly any Scottish team wins.

7/ 4-1 win at Easter Road in 1978. You can still see it on YouTube. I remember being at this game and the Celtic fans running on the pitch during the second half. It's still the biggest win Hibs have had over Celtic in a competitive match in my lifetime.

Of course the classic 2-1 League Cup Final win in 1972 would top the list. I wasn't there but my dad was and I wish he had taken me through that day.

The " squiggler" was a particularly enjoyable victory. The Smellies were their usual arrogant , we can't be beat ,usual before and during the game , then the holy toly chucked one in the net

Was there at that game with the late great Dode Mitchell, who also got a £300 bet up . Stuff of legends from Benny. Caulder than a witches tit but a few beers before and a wee hip flask during made for a good day.
Probably just beaten by the Peirce O'leary penalty game, what a night that was. And the League cup final in 73.First time at Hampden as a 15 year auld, fell off the wall at the end and burst ma heid open. My maw thought I'd been fightin.

Not a great game, but we hadn’t won at dark Heid fo about ten years....
Willie Temperley scores the only goal then goes Radge at Jock Stein who had emptied him.
Won 1-0 and I think Temperley disappeared without trace after that.

Remember going mental on the terracing as the Smellies just stood stunned that we’d beat them.
    Coupon buster.
