If I was in charge of negotiations I'd be doing everything to get him tied down to a longer contract. First thing I'd do is offer St Mirren half a million to forgo any future percentage of the transfer fee. They could take that guaranteed money, or wait. Second thing I'd do is match his wage with whatever Stokes is on. On top of that I'd sweeten the deal and give him 10% of his transfer fee when he moves on.

I dont believe that money matters as much to McGinn as most players. He is intelligent and level headed and ambitious in a football sense. His next move will be all about giving himself the highest chance of playing at the highest level. Nothing more, nothing less.

With every game his star rises. St Mirren won't back off the deal and why should they?

We have done well to keep him 3 years given his talent. I think he will move on in the summer. Lenny needs him for the season for the club's stock to keep rising. Like Jason before him, there will be a succession plan in place.
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

Didnt Shrink say that SJM’s Dad said he’d see him next year? Does that mean SJM wants to stay? Or maybe the brother wants to come?

Wether John or St Mirren would take the deals would be up to them. I'd at least make the proposal, worst they can say is no. I think it would show John we want the best for him and even if he signs the deal, if the right offer comes in during the summer he could leave. He will leave I believe January or the summer. He's going to be very hard to replace. I think he has what it takes to be successful in the EPL, forget the championship.

    I do too.
Same, I think the plan is for him to settle in this season, and take the role as the driving force from midfield next season.
