Surprised to find no mention of our sponsors upsetting the neighbours...

They seemingly phoned Hibs to complain and have issued an official statement criticising our sponsor's act of sheer naughtiness.

What has the game come to. Whata shower of po faced Gunts

Not sure how it's come about but it's not great that they have the name of a charity on their shirts and we have a gambling company and a gin company, I would prefer Hibs to find alternative sponsorship.

I’ve always thought a good community initiative would be to divide each game and allow smaller possibly supporter owned firms a chance to get their name on the shirt

So would I. Without getting po-faced about it, in my job I see so many people with fcuked up lives through gambling and I don't like seeing a betting company on my team's jersey. Betting is EVERYWHERE in football nowadays, more than ever before.

The fairly new Chairman of Notts is quite a switched-on guy and is creating a lot of interest and increasing support around the club with some good marketing ideas.

It's very interesting (if I've followed the tweet trail properly...) that very few Tweets are forthcoming from Gunts supporting him. If he was doing well I suspect he wouldn't be tweeting such desperate nonsense trying to get them onside. Allan Preston was damning on Lafferty on Sunday lambasting his performance based on his weekly salary. Obviously I'm no fan of any Gunt in a maroon jersey but I can have a wee bit of respect for any honest professional. Nobody broke our heart more than John Robertson but I always respected the little fat $#@!.... Lafferty is just a horrible individual.

In case anyone doesn't know, and not to defend a betting company particularly, but, the offensive word was originally on the photos by whoever took them, not Marathonbet. And, that person may have the same name as me but is 100% not me! Would never use that word. Also don't use snapchat, which is where it looks like the photos came from.

Don't know why so many are against a bookies sponsoring our club? In my early twenties I had a gambling problem on horses. I now very rarely gamble. I have the occasional coupon putting on no more than a tenner. I think gambling has never been easier with apps etc. I think it should be much more regulated. However, I think the majority are gambling responsibly? I'd be surprised if Hibs having Marathon Bet on their jersey has caused folk to have issues?

I think the whole episode has been an attempt by the gunts to deflect from their own incompetence. I'm not defending Marathon Bet but the overreaction from tincastle suggests to me that they are trying to cover their embarrassment at allowing the build to be completed when it was clearly nonsense by having a dig at Hibs thus getting their own fans onside.

Seems like unnecessary effort either way - Shirley the photos of a haemorrhage coloured corrugated iron box obscuring the view of the goals from the new stand which incidentally looks nothing like the original grand designs which one can only assume were presumably circulated as a masturbatory aid for the denizens of Gorgie, would have been quite enough on their own but then I don’t use $#@!ter so maybe I’m missing something.

As usual, hearts don't take it well when any fun is poked at them.

Marathonbet shouldn't have shared it if it did have the word on it, but outside of that, it's harmless nonsense.

Also, who should we be getting to sponsor us then? Realistically there's not enough money in leith for us to use a local company that isn't drink or gambling related.

The size of our club, combined with the exposure of our club, means that most companies that'll come to us will fall into this bracket.

Hearts having a charity on their top means diddlyfuckinsquat.
Mind they had Wonga not too long ago.

I'm sincerely glad you got over your problem Kenny but I'm afraid many don't. I am a psychologist and run a registered charity working in counselling people with gambling problems and their families. Day in, day out I talk to people with broken lives, people who are facing prison sentences, losing their families, bankruptcy, and many who have attempted to take their own life. It's particularly galling to see a guy sitting there in floods of tears, relating that his wife has left and taken their kids away.

You are correct insofar as your comment about apps. These are, on the flip side, sometimes more straightforward to curtail however, given a restriction on electronic money to the gambler. Doing a lot of damage these days are the FOBTs - the terminals in the bookies which are restricted to four per shop and so why why see a rash of shops all over the high street these days - opening more premises to allow for them.

It's difficult to say who is gambling responsibly because it's most often a secretive, deceitful activity when things get out of hand and so not reported. What I can tell you is that I - just one practitioner - treated a total of 220 clients in the past twelve month period - an increase of 20% from the previous year.

Many clients who bet on football and other sports visit me. What they report to me is that they are very sensitive to noticing the betting advertising around football in all its forms, including on shirts, whether live or on TV. In the latter case some even tell me that when watching Sky Sports for instance they even go to the lengths of turning the TV off or leaving the room during commercial breaks. I'm pretty sure the likes of Marathonbet wouldn't pay a significant figure for shirt advertising if it has has no effect. They know that it does.

I don't have the answers to the general subject of shirt advertising, apart from a blanket ban, but to say that betting advertising is not a problem is very inaccurate in my experience over the past few years. I'm not moralising, just a wee bit of an insight.
