The systematic abuse of Super John McGinn

Is it me? Or is it getting worse?

Managers understandably sending team's out to try and stop him...but more and more players taking things way too far. No wonder he relies on those legs and arse of steel.
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

Aberdeen, Celtic (cup) hearts and now Motherwell all booting him up and down. Refs useless. Barely a card given out. Cochrane was more an assault than a tackle and same happened against Aberdeen.

The type of player he is infuriates other players as he makes them look like $#@!e. Hence him of the telly that went from football to javelin. The cross some gifted players bare. Lennons post match interview was very critical of how much players have gone unpunished for crazy tackles on him and he needs more protection from refs.

I reckon SJM just waits on Big Marv squashing them before chuckling at them sparkled on the ground.

I think McGinn relishes the physical battle because he knows he’s better than his opposite number. That said referees have to do more to protect any player on the receiving end of constant fouls.
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do

McGinn gives it out as well - the Motherwell number 5 got to know all about it at the end of yesterday's game.

That’s the solution - dictate the conversation, and dare referees to protect McGinn. Walter Smith used to do it for Paul Gascoigne; bleat about how he was being victimised, and sit back while officials turned a blind eye to his antics.

Can't comment on the well game as I was not there or watched anything other than a tinted 6 minute video on you tube. But the ablosutlety reckless challenge during the derby could put a player on the side lines for a while.

Nor sure what your reference to Gazza is tho bud. Didn't sound anything like Lennon trying to do anything other than justly criticise poor officiating of games and try to make sure a prize asset to the team is safe while on the pitch.

The Cochrane tackle apart I thought Aberdeen were the worst. They shuffled their 'attacker' on him to share the 'load' and make sure it wasn't consistently one individual player. Hun behaviour.

While Gascoigne was at Ibrox, Walter Smith would consistently, and deliberately, comment on how he was being targeted and that referees were victimising him. Because he did it prior to and between games, rather than after them, he was creating the opinion that his star player was being systematically targeted and needed protection.

This message was then distributed by the media, amplifying it and Smith’s agenda that Gascoigne was a weekly victim.

What this achieved, and quite by design, was dramatic OVER protection for a player that spent a lot of time breaking the rules himself. Every robust (but fair) tackle on Gascoigne would see a booking, while a lot of his unruly behaviour went unpunished because referees didn’t want to be hammered in the post-match diatribe, and particularly in the media.

It was pure PR, but it worked. An already institutionally lenient set of officials bought the lie that Gascoigne was the victim, and he went his merry way with misdemeanour after misdemeanour while going anywhere near him guaranteed a card.

That’s what Lennon should do with McGinn. He has a positive media profile, and he’s cute enough to avoid SFA whinges.
