The line up for the game versus the Sons of Murrayfield

Who would you start with on Tuesday night against a very different opponent to the football team we played today?

I think it will be a real clash of styles and tactics. Us wanting to play through the middle, them wanting to avoid it and go long. Us wanting to keep it on the deck, them wanting to launch it and play for set pieces.

Why does this all sound so familiar?

Those in the upper parts of the stands are going to see a lot of the ball.

I'd go physical first half and technical with pace the second.

    Rocky
    Whittaker Effe Hanlon Stevenson
    Swanson Barts Dylan SJM
    Shaw/ or Murray Stokes

    That's what I'd want
    Will probably be
    Rocky
    Whit Effe Hanlon Stevenson
    Boyle Bart SJM mcgeouch Slivka
    Stokes

I think we can go 4-4-2 v them, diamond in midfield, Bartley mcgeouch and McGinn plus Boyle or barker.

I think more or less the same team as today but with two strikers. Assuming everyone is fit. Hopefully McGregor will be back soon.

The $#@! measuring gunts are weak down the flanks, we need to go at them as they will try and sit in and hit us on the break.

I also reckon a wee bit of 'work' on Bauben, Levien's love child, could get him carded early and or sent off, he is a dirty $#@!.

To beat them, I would go with....

    Marciano
    Whittaker Efe Hanlon Lewis
    Barts Dylan SJM
Boyle on the right Stokes on the left
    Murray through the middle
    nil satis nisi optimum

Might be a game for Danny to really shine? God knows he'd run through a wall to hurt the Hertz.

Guess the counter argument is he'll try too hard and force the play too much.

    Can’t see Swanson starting.

I’d play two wide men beside Stokes, a midfield of Dylan Marvin and SJM, Whittaker and Lewis Efe and Hanlon. And bring Rocky back.

We needn't kid ourselves that this will be any different that the normal derby fayre.

In that respect I think Marvin Bartley will be a key player for Hibs on the night.

I won't be surprised if Lennon goes with the same team as yesterday minus Laidlaw and Gray.

Pace will hurt them. Boyle must start. Slivka to drop out.

Not against Murray/Swanson coming in for Barker. I can see a case for all three.

High tempo like the last three games at Easter Road against them and all will be well.

I'm not sure what our best starting 11 is yet (bit like NL himself) but as a few have pointed out they struggle against genuine pace especially down the flanks and we must get at their full backs and wouldn't be surprised if Barker and Boyle both start even though the last time we tried that was against Hamilton and we all know how that turned out

Boyle absolutely has to start for me, with his pace he offers a far greater threat and is more "tried and tested" than either Barker or Slivka, who he would replace.

Lennon thinks Barker had a "great game" in his Hibs TV interview and in his media conference at Hampden said he was "very good" so I'd expect him to start.

Lennon also single him out for praise after St J away, then dropped him for the next game against Livi, then said Danny was easily MOTM in that game, and has hardly had a kick since
I'm not convinced with Barker, sometimes looks good , but very rarely is there any end product.

Danny's had other stuff going on. He probably wasn't up for much game time tbh

Absolutely - the trial, giving evidence and being discredited by sheister legal bods, the verdict and then a family loss. Its been a rotten time for him. Nobody can question him not playing at this time. Hope he is getting the support he needs.

Can't say I'm confident - I never am for derbies. For all our good play, we have only won once in seven league games since Ibrox - that is not good form by any stretch of the imagination. Conversely, for all folk are saying they're turgid $#@!e, which it appears they are (I ain't watched them yet), they've won three of their last seven.

Goalscoring is, yet again, turning into a problem. God knows I wish we had Jase tomorrow. The last time any of our strikers scored a league goal was Stokes on my birthday, the 16th of September. In fact, until Oli Shaw's intervention on Saturday, he was the only striker to have scored in any competition since Simon Murray at Ibrox. On the 12th of August. Well over two months ago. Just let that sink in. We need to start putting a) some form together, and b) some goals in the back of the feckin net.

For that reason, assuming Stokes is fit, he simply must start. However, I don't think we can leave it to him. Plus, it's apparently common knowledge that Hertz midfield isnae up to much - can we not trust four of our much-vaunted midfield to win a battle against their (undoubted) five? I think we need to give Stokes the ability to drop off, so therefore we need to play another striker. And if Shaw is hot, why not bung him in? There's more than enough experience in the rest of the team. Plus, apparently their full-backs are very vulnerable, so I think we need to pick a team to exploit that.

    So:

    Marciano

    Roger - Efe - Hanlon - Lewis

    McGeouch - Barts

Boyle - McGinn - Stokes (or Barker if not fit)

    Shaw

Go at them 100 mph from the off, and get in front by 1 or 2. Then when our wide players start to tire, replace one of them with Slivka to shore things up, and replace Shaw with Murray to keep their back four occupied and on the back foot.

If that all turns out to be "not bollocks", then I will have a rare old time writing Just back!

Plus, apparently their full-backs are very vulnerable, so I think we need to pick a team to exploit that. So: MarcianoRoger - Efe - Hanlon - Lewis McGeouch - BartsBoyle - McGinn - Stokes (or Barker if not fit) ShawGo at them 100 mph from the off, and get in front by 1 or 2. Then when our wide players start to tire, replace one of them with Slivka to shore things up, and replace Shaw with Murray to keep their back four occupied and on the back foot.If that all turns out to be "not bollocks", then I will have a rare old time writing Just back!
No great reading mate. Looking at stats stokes scored four league goals since ibrox. He went on a run scoring against Hamilton? Dundee and Motherwell. I feel goals dried up when Murray dropped out the team. Hopefully forwards have shooting boots on. Loosing to scum would be unacceptable.

I think tonight is a game for Murray and I hope stokes is fit to partner him up top.
    Its Liam Henderson to deliver...
And David Gray has scored! The captain!
Hibs are standing on the brink of history!
