    Simon Murray and Matulevicius

What's the script here with our forwards?

No big Dave for a couple of games, not even on the bench.

    No Murray starting for weeks.

Shaw given the nod ahead of him today.
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

    Shaw scored?

But, yes, I do wonder too. I think five in the middle suits danny Swanson n all. I suspect big Dave might be the best target man I if we play one up front.

Is there any rumours on the ground?

We might see two forwards starting on Tuesday with a further two on the bench? It is pointless to have 3 forwards on the bench when going 4-5-1 - they aren’t all going to come on. Ergo is it a sign of the strength in depth of our squad?

Or a lack of players for other positions

Big Dave l suspect is a dud and will leave in January. Poor on training I'm getting told and was rubbish for 20s on Tuesday. Not sure why Murray not getting game time

Well I've heard $#@! all not that I heard much anyway!

Big Dave. What was the point of signing him if he canny make the bench? Aberdeen looked a stick on. Tuesday seems to be another opportunity for a big $#@! off hit man to take a booking but we'll see what happens.

There was a guy close to me signing girls like Simon Murray ... even after the 3rd sub - to be fair he spouted 7 pails of other pish as well. It wasn't just Murray's heid that looked on fire not so long ago. Weird one.

In fact despite the stats our shooting/conversation rate must be, as it has been for yonks, crap! Abysmal!!

Oli Shaw is the future. I'm away to buy him a few of SJMs pies ... and some armour plating!

Biggest mystery of the season as far as I am concerned.

Big Dave Matelavicous was a major signing in the summer. He was being tracked for over a year, and he was deemed good enough to play a part for his country in a recent international against England. He also set up Stokes goal against Hamilton. We need someone with some physical presence to hold the ball up and bully defenders as Grant Holt done last season, and I had assumed (wrongly it would appear) that Big Dave was going to be this type of player. Lennon must have had an idea of the role he was going to play but for reasons unknown he has barely played any football for us since he signed.

Murray has IMO been unfairly dropped. I realise the guy is nothing special but there is no doubt he has talent, is skilful and has the pace and workrate to trouble any defence. Just can't understand why he has fallen so far out of favour. He did seem to do better against weaker First and Second Division teams and I also feel his game has been affected since Stokes arrived which is a pity.

Oli said in his post match interview Lennon asked both him and Murray to warm up. Lennon added Oli had been performing well in training and in the development team which influenced his decision. It's in part down to tactics that Murray hasn't featured. As for big Dave, I'd have thought today would have been a good day to play him with Stokes up front from the start.

Yep. A lot of what Lennon does is strange. Team selections are weird at times and the poor results we are getting are showing this.

Guess it comes down to who is training well and adapting to the way Lennon wants to set us up. If big Dave is a replacement for Holt then goals is definitely not part of his game and he seems a lot more agile so would take a step up to the premiership easier than Holt who was maybe just a year or 2 past it, sadly.

Murray looked great pre season but not against a better opposition but I thought when he came on against the sheep he did liven up the attack. Great
to see young Shaw come on and score, great prospect we have there.

Now we need the enigma that is Stokes to start showing us what we all know he is capable of.

The enigma has scored 8 goals so far this season, only Simon Murray has scored more.

Think he is capable of more especially as he is not getting on the score sheet in the big games, this season. And the enigma isn't a dig.

I know it wasnt but the expectations are awfy high with regards Stokes, he has scored 8 goals and we are not yet one quarter of the way through the season. If he keeps this level of scoring up that will be 30 plus for the season.

In fairness getting a player of his quality he needs to be scoring against Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen. Which in 4 of those games so far he has scored once from the spot.

Could be different factors such as playing up front on his own. I also think he is sometimes caught helping out in the middle of the park and could be further forward.

This is why he didn't work well with Cummings. They both done the same stuff, coming short for the ball and having to turn or move.

He needs a partner willing to be a post for him or someone who'll just stand in the box. Being on his own and expecting the 3 behind him to run beyond him just isn't happening because we only really run with the ball at our feet.

I wouldn't mind seeing Murray play on a wing, maybe he doesn't want to and that's partly why he wanted away from United, but his energy and hassling style would do cause real problems for fullbacks.
