Cowdenbeath, soaked to the skin, couldnae see the game for fences, pillars and posts. That was the day that relegation sunk in.

Archigoal was my most memorable one at Swynie.
For some reason our first game at McDiarmid Park always sticks in the memory .Massive Hibs support meant loads of us in amongst the St Johnstone fans in main stand.
I emigrated in 1995 so not been to many of the modern away trips
This is discussing rotten away grounds or trips

St Johnstone away in league cup about 98 under mcleish, car broke down on way up so arrived 35 minutes into the game, five minutes into the second half at 4-0 down the driver decided he'd had enough so we headed home

That’s what I was going to say. I remember some fans dishing it out to tall pish, and his wife/girlfriend was in the stand just behind us. Horrible horrible night.

Venue - Hamilton. Gash stadium and there's not even the consolation of it being a decent away day for a bevvy (not that I've tried)

Worst game - East Fife Scotch cup replay defeat in 84 sticks out as being a shocker as a bairn and probably my first experience of scarves being chucked.

    East Fife 2 - 0 Hibernian, Scottish Cup (31/01/1984)

Also a Scottish cup tie up there when Houchen got sent off stupidly and we conceded a last minute goal..

Stirling Albion away when Chris Jackson scored the winner..

Ross County quarter final replay defeat under Yogi who merrily booked a holiday to Florida over cup final weekend at 9am the following morning..

Age 16 to Hampden Scottish Cup semi final v Celtc. Ordered to stop crossing a road by Glasgow polis. When traffic cleared few pals aggressively lifted for crossing when told they were not authorised to do so. Realisation that Glasgow polis are ****s. Having been brought up to respect polis and authority it was a shock. An eye opener. Now on my rare Glasgow outings I accept that's the way it is. Corrupt. It's shocking and sickens me.

Oddly enough my worst away day was Pittodrie 74(?). Hibs won 3-2 Harper scored 2 in the Hibs win.

Unfortunately, BTH and I were set upon by a couple of dozen neds as we headed down King St ( the Hibs support were herded up King St toward the station).
Ended up with 2 broken ribs before being saved by local plod.
    Great result, spoiled by stupidity.
    Ever play this game chief?

Dumbarton opening game of 2015-16. Crushing defeat that put us on the immediate promotion back foot to sevco, but probably even worse the fighting and tension between Hibees in the stand. That place seemed to bring the worst out in the support

Pittodrie for Cocos first game in charge. Bloody freezing in the middle of October and we got beat 4-1. He played 4 CBs and we were truly woeful.
    Its Liam Henderson to deliver...
And David Gray has scored! The captain!

Stopped going to away games in the early 90's so my grim selections are from the late 70's and 80's when I regularly travelled to away games on the supporters bus.

1/ East Fife midweek Scottish Cup replay in 1984. One turnstile open for about 2000 travelling Hibs fans. Didn't get in till early in the second half. Hibs lost 2-0. Alan Rough broke his ankle.

2/ Partick Thistle league game in 1979. Hibs lost 6-1 to Bertie Auld's Partick...a team that could barely muster a goal a game managed to get six against Hibs. Our disasterous game plan involved Eddie Turnbull resting most of the first team squad as we were weeks away from the Scottish Cup Final.

3/ Clydebank: Kilbowie Park was a horrible wee ground in the middle of a dodgy housing estate. Thankfully it has been demolished. When we lost a Scottish Cup match there in 1987 to a single goal it was a new low.

4/ Dundee in about 1981. We drew 2-2 but it makes my list as I was lifted after the game by the Dundee polis for shouting abuse at them. Only time in my life I have ever been in trouble with the law. You do some daft things when you are 16

Inverness on a Boxing Day when Zibi was at his Zibiest. Went up and down, on my tod, by Stagecoach. Lost 3-0, with Zibi throwing in two, and the bus broke down near Perth on the way back. Got to Edinburgh long after the last bus to Mussy, and had to take an expensive Christmas morning taxi home.
No sympathy whatsoever from the other half.

Some belters here, Both Cowdenbeath ones in the pishing rain/sleet mentioned by Power and 1875 were really grim events.

QoS midweek in a League cup game under Fenlon was pretty grim, a midweek trip to Airdrie in the snow rings distant bells and also quite recently the games at Dumbarton with fans fighting each other was also not very much fun.

    All character building stuff!

There's 2 obvious Hampden visits that I would rather forget...

Also a derby defeat at the PBS early 2000's where we were drowning our sorrows in Breck's Bar on Rose Street and got started on by some CCS types. Utter fannies just wanted to pick a fight with anyone, looked gutted when we told them we were Hibs fans and had been at the game that day.

By no means the worst but a particularly turgid affair against Motherwell under Calderwood always sticks with me - weather was rank, Hibs were worse, Zemmama missed a penalty, Hibs fans arguing with each other over the merit of chants of the “we’re $#@!e and we know we are” variety. Horrible times on reflection.

0-0 against Queen of the South last season was brutal - standing in the rain for 90 minutes as 10 man Hibs failed to create any excitement.

There are a few Hampden/Tynecastle trips I’d rather forget.
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do

The quarter final replay at Ross County in 2010, last minute winner for them and seemed long long drive home after that !

    Greenock Morton. The End.

What's your least favourite Hibs away day and why?
    I quite like Cappielow

Much better than some of the modern grounds like Hamilton, ICT, Falkirk etc..

It's the journey to the end of the earth. Horrible when cold or wet or both. At least Cowdenbeath is relatively local and has good hot tea. Catering at Cappielow is bowfing. The midweek game in Arctic conditions where Stokes scored on his return, was made all the more challenging with only potato scones on rolls left at the burger van thing and pishy tea. And any ground that has "red sauce" West coast stylee needs shut down

Was Baltic that night. Stood for a good 30 minutes missing the game for a really bad coffee.

Think that’s also the ground Robbie went for food during the great adventure, and was offered a burger, but nae bun.

Also got a wee soft spot for it though.

Cowdenbeath by a country mile. A soulless ground where an atmosphere is impossible to generate.

I’m fairly certain that was my birthday and decided last minute to head along. Awful game of football.
    Its Liam Henderson to deliver...
And David Gray has scored! The captain!

A couple stick in the mind.

Airdrie at Broomfield c.1992: Budgie in goals and out of sorts- turned out he had had a bust up with Alex Miller beforehand and wasn’t allowed to wear a particular shirt. It snowed, the game looked in doubt but the ref decided to continue. Of course, we lost 2-0.

The worst was still to come. My mates and I were chased by some mad locals and we ended up scrambling up some nasty hill to escape. Always hated the place after that.

As a postscript, my wife’s family are from... Airdrie. When I went there for the first time in years, I was delighted to see the old ground had been replaced by a supermarket!

    Part two...

It’s been mentioned already, but the 0-4 at McDiarmid Park in the league cup was abysmal.

I think there was perhaps an Austrian bloke at centre half- he was never seen again.

Hibs fans were there in incredible numbers and the anger was palpable.

Aye, same Airdrie game I mentioned Paddy.

Our bus convener slipped and fell in a muddy puddle- ruining his pretty convincing Francis Begbie look- and made the entire coach detour to The Inch so he could change chinos and slap on some old spice before going back to the royal nip.

Another novel day on The IEC bus

Funny how I see games on here and I remember them as a good day out. Cowdenbeath was rainy but a good wee pub crawl before it, starting off in wee jimmys pub and seeing my wee cousin play against hibs meant I actually have fond memories apart from the rain. Alloa we used to go to the same pub each game before playing there and was a decent wee away day apart from the rain.

All the away days in the championship were quite fun as the games really mattered in title races. Think I maybe only missed about 2 of them in the 3 years.

My votes for some of the worst go to-

Ayr away in the cup. Midweek defeat around 2011 ish?

Most of the run in under Terry butcher. Ross county away was particularly crap. Hibs put on free buses and the team just failed to show up.

A lot of post split bottom 6 away days too that meant absolutely nothing.

The winner of the worst a game left me feeling was Falkirk away in the playoffs. After work, no time for a pint. Drove through. Stuck in a Q for ages and missed the start. The ending and result- sitting absolutely numb in the stand and knowing there was no way we would win the final after that. Then being stuck not moving in the car for around an hour while people tried to leave the industrial park where I parked.

Patrick 6 Hibs 1.. 1978 I think.. and we were top of the league at the time.. early part of season mind.. Tony Higgins scored.. but we left the ground with our tails between our legs..
