    Your all time Hibs XI

No Hibs this weekend but no reason to not talk Hibs. So, having had Stubbs' side referred to as Smurfs best Hibs team in his 21 years...who would yours be and why?
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

The team under Mcleish with colgan sauzee laursen jack Lovell O'Neill ziitelli Latapy and mixu was a superbly entertaining team. Sauzee and Latapy still 2 of the best players I've seen in Hibs colours

Do you mean a Hibs XI that played in the same side or an XI that can be assembled that didn't necessarily play together?

The Scottish Cup winning XI did what I feared I'd never see. So that's my best XI. Although of course if I had to compile my strongest and best XI it might be different...

    In my lifetime - 3412:
    Leighton
    McGregor Jones Hanlon
    Whittaker Beuzelin Brown Murphy
    Latapy
    Jackson Riordan

If it’s best actual Hibs XI that played together, then Stubbs’s 2016 Scottish Cup winning team.

Best actual Hibs team I have seen in my adult life supporting Hibs is definitely McLeish's team of 2000/2001. A team which had everything you would want, experience at a high level, balance, flair, and a goal threat from just about everywhere. Only weak link was perhaps goalkeeper, but Colgan was decent if not top class like the rest of the team.

I was a bairn growing up in the 70's and was first taken to ER as a 6 year old with my dad in 1971 just after Eddie Turnbull became manager. The 70's team were all heroes in green and white to me at that time especially Pat Stanton and later on Ally McLeod. In the early to mid 70's I was probably too young to fully appreciate just how great that team was. I was lucky though to see them play however and be at several great and memorable matches at that time including some fantastic European nights.

    Best Hibs eleven individually I have seen in my adult life...ie since about 1982 would probably be;

    Goram
    Gray
    Murphy
    Sauzee
    Jones
    Latapy
    Weir
    Collins
    Archibald
    Jackson
    Riordan

    Goram

    Gray Sauzee McGregor Murphy

    Collins Brown Latapy McGinn

    Stokes Riordan

Not exactly a well balanced team and definitely class-of-2016-biased!

Only going by players I've seen as there's no doubt a certain famous 5, Joe Baker etc would blast their way in if I'd ever seen them play.

Alan Rough in goal. We really had an amazing trio of keepers in Rough, Leighton, and Goram, and Budgie wasnae bad either.

Defense : Franck Sauzee, John Brownlie, Sir David Gray, Pat Stanton. Ok, I know that's two right backs but just imagine David is a left back.

Midfield: Russell Latapy, Scott Brown, John McGinn. Not particularly big but I think with Franck and Pat behind them it doesn't matter.

Up Front: Derek Riordan, Garry O'Connor and Jason Cummings. Obviously with these three nut jobs the team would implode in seconds but just think if the radges stuck to putting the ball in the net the way they all could at their peak.

    Subs:

Leigh Griffiths - in case we felt the need to increase the radge element

Peter Marinello - THE ULTIMATE talent in Scottish football who never quite played to what he was capable of

John Collins - a bit more physical than Latapy or McGinn if things got heavy

Mathias Jack - a lot more physical than all of the above

Jim Leighton - Goram was probably better but I hate the Huns

    I would go with:

    Leighton
    Brownlie,Sauzee,Blackley,Schaedler.
    Brown, Latapy, Stanton, Collins.
    Archibald, Riordan.

    Subs:
    Rough
    Mcginlay
    Jackson
    Bremner
    Jones

    Manager:
Stein set foundations but wasn't here long enough,Miller was here for centuries and Turnbull delivered as did Stubbsy and there was the classy teams of Mowbray and McLeish but overall Turnbull despite the unhappy ending.

Goran is written out of Hibs history as far as I am concerned and I wish I had seen Willie Hamilton who was the finest player the great Jock Stein had ever seen and Pat Mcginlay would be my wild card for longevity and a decent number of goals though Arthur Duncan would also be a fair shout.

Its forgotten that Des Bremner played around 200 Hibs games before going to Villa to win the European club and an honorable mention to Peter Cormack who had a fine Hibs career and also went on to win a European medal at Liverpool.

No justification obviously for including Chic Charley or Matty Jack but what memorable one off cameo seasons they had and thankfully no one has mentioned Bestie as I am with Eddie Turnbull in that he was a significant factor in that team being relegated though Turnbull was the other.

What a good thread and damned difficult to leave some of the great players out who have worn the green. Being a tad older than some posters, I would say Slov Sams team is nearest my own?

    Goram
Brownlie (I am so torn here as Sir David Gray will always be a hero but I loved Onion as a laddie),
    Sauzee,
    McGregor,
    Murphy.

    Brown,
    Latapy,
    Stanton,
    Best.

    Archibald, and Riordan.

    Subs:
    Rough,
    McGinn,
    Griffiths,
    Edwards, and
    Jones

Manager would be Eddie Turnbull, closely followed by Stubbsy for obvious reasons.

The best team, well that can only be the one that won us the Scottish Cup on that glorious day in May 2016. I will love each and everyone of the players and management from that day for the rest of my life.

Goram (aye I know but I'm just looking at ability plain and simple)
Brownlie (the best but he will not be the most important one)
    Sloop
Sauzee (Dieu will always be special to all who had the privilege to see him)
    Murphy (just)
    Collins (sheer class
    Latas (unbridled flair)
    Brown (engine and aggression)
    Stanton (My first football hero)
    Archigol
Griffiths (we'd have been relegated sooner without his catalogue of exquisite goals)
Subs Leighton, Gray, McNamara, Bremner, McGinn, Cropley, Stokes

Haha, I would include all three and struggled to find space for Paul Hanlon, John O'Neil and Gary Smith.

It's always difficult with these things when you get into the realms of having a team that would blend or picking the best eleven individuals.

From whom I've seen it would be something like this:

    Goram

    Brownlie
    Sauzee
    Blackley
    Schaedler

    Stanton
    Collins
    Cormack
    Cropley

    Baker
    Archibald

    Manager: Turnbull

Sticking to players I've seen in the flesh. I'm not exactly 'flush' for options in goals unfortunately...

    ------------- Logan --------------

    Gray McGregor Sauzee Murphy

    ---- Brown Beuzelin McGinn ----

    ------------ Latapy --------------

    -------- Riordan Griffiths --------

Subs: Andersson, Stevenson, Hanlon, Zemmama, Sproule, McGeouch, Cummings
Seems like there's a hole in my dreams, or so it seems

Slov Sam and Stu have picked pretty decent teams

    Leighton

    Gray
    Sauzee
    DMac
    Stevenson

    Brown
    Thomson
    Latapy

    Riordan
    Jackson
    Griffiths

Thomson will probably not be top of many polls, but first time round, before his injury, he was the top talent at ER, including Broonaldo.
