Hibs v Aberdeen 2007 - magic goals content

If you've a spare 13 minutes feast your eyes on some of this

Got to have a sense of pride watching a very young Fletcher and Brown at the start of their careers and watching the midfield grace of Boozy and super composed finishing of the Benj. Benji's 2nd goal - the very early strike - is reminiscent of a cup final goal where there's hardly any backlift. He could have been so much more.....Bernebau?

Always quite liked Michael Stewart too despite his Gorgie tendencies and his cream puff at the 2007 final.

You will also catch a snippet from the commentator about Thomson being benched which must relate to his mumping in the press (Jackshun's words) about a move

Stewart spewed up a few minutes before that volley. Weird.

enjoyed watching that, could only really remember Mikey Stewart's goal from that game and it was a peach..

good times watching Hibs then, all fell apart not that long after though.

a few good shots of the east terrace too, home games were so much better before it went

Thanks for posting this. I was there and only remember seeing Michael Stewarts belter on tv after and it was great to see Benjis at the end. What a dance he lead the defenders!

Ken what though, we've never been close to having 18,000 plus crowds -with over 16,000 Hibbies-for league games against the Sheep for many decades.

    Reason to be cheerful.

Thanks for that, also forgot how good Benji's goals were. Was working down in NE England at the time, watched this game in a $#@!hole boozer in Stockton-on-Tees! (Home of Rob Jones btw) 😂

I remember being at that match...we had drawn 2-2 up at Aberdeen and this was the replay.
Stewarts goal was a cracker and Benji was in great form at the time. Benji was a very talented lad whose attitude let him down too often.
As a team we played very well that night..we had a really good team at that time. Thinking about it that was probably the biggest win over Aberdeen I have ever seen Hibs have.

That game always sticks in my memory as a real marker of where that team was going (before it all went wrong). It was an exciting, fearless young team with some real quality. They became League Cup winning legends just two months later, and at the time I felt the club was going from strength to strength and we could go on and win both cups in the near future and regularly challenge at the top end of the league. Exciting times that ended all rather sourly.

The current Hibs team had the potential to achieve what that team should have.

Cheers for that. A little snippet to remind us all how superb it was having the likes of Benji and Sproule playing for us as well as Brown and Fletch.

Seen highlights of Sproules hat trick at Ibrox today, forgot just how different a player Brown was with us, the touch and run to get Sproules second was top drawer stuff.
Sure it was him surging that set up the third goal as well.

Such a good team to watch!
