    Queensferry Crossing

Can any users of the new bridge advise me on traffic flow recently there? Need to be at Edinburgh Airport for 12:00 hrs on Saturday and don't know how much time to allow on for possible hold-ups - any advice appreciated.

    Midnight or midday?

I've done it both ways around a dozen times now.

My experience of midday is a breeze. They've moved the average speed cameras so there's a mix of slow and fast cars.

Never done midnight. I'd expect it to be quieter other than Halloween when the Fife witches will have there broomsticks in for a service.

12 pm Jack - although I'll be doing it again at 1 am ten days later. So I don't need to add an hour on for delays, you reckon?

I'd say not mate , rush hours apart it seems not too bad now the novelty has worn off

Leave half an hour earlier than you might do normally and you'll have an extra hour in Wotherspoons for that traditional selfie on Facebook!

Yep. Can't offer expert advice but I'd say go early and if you end up ahead of schedule spend the extra time in the spoons. But I speak as a man who likes spending time in a spoons
    so what do I know

As someone who has had experience of the bridge at weekend, not weekdays, leave half an hour early to be on safe side. I traveled back north last Sunday at back of 3pm and there was a minimum 20 minute delay. It was only 10mins for me coz I darted up the lane for North Queensferry and cut in.

Cheers folks - bridge was a dawdle on the way down, no delays. A bit busier northbound but there was no hurry back. Should be even easier at 1 am in 10 days' time!

Went over it today for the first time. 8.am and it was 30 mph going north but no stopping. Noticed the southbound was running free as well. Used tae be queues way back up to Amazon with the old bridge. Came back over at 12.30 and straight over as well. Dunno if this morning is typical but a big improvement on the old bridge.

Think I might nip over to Gorgie Farm and count some Chickens before they've hatched

It would seem from the traffic reports on Radio Froth in the morning that the delays are somewhat less than they used to be. I don't listen in the evenings.

I time my runs, on a Wednesday, so that I wasn't much affected anyway.

Time will tell how things might hopefully improve further when the speed restrictions are lifted.

There never really was any issue at that time Bill (IMO)Southbound was always a nightmare between 6.30 - 8am with folk trying to get into Edinburgh for starting work between 8 and 9.

Crossed it a few times in the past week with no problems but it has a temporary 40mph speed restriction.

It really is a majestic engineering construction and testament to this wonderful SNP Government.

Now give them control of education and health....

I wanted a tunnel. It was cheaper. It was easier. However we have the best bridge in the World at the moment. It is actually an amazing structure. From architect to navvy, I salute you.
