    Hibs watching fans on cctv

Two kids in front of us today had juice cans confiscated midway through the first half. They had been spotted on the stadium cameras drinking from cans. Stewards came saying the control room in the south had spotted it. Amazing stuff. Makes you wonder how big men shouting sectarian stuff in their hundreds and thousands can be missed...

I'm not sure what the camera system at Easter Road is like however I've seen the setup at some of the grounds down South where they can zoom right into where people are sitting and gain very clear images of supporters. Don't think they get an audio feed but certainly anyone throwing missiles or entering the field of play could potentially be identified.

I'm surprised anyone would be surprised in a city and country where CCTV is standard everywhere right down to dingy wee pubs!

Haven't been allowed cans or glass bottles of anything since the early 1980s. Unless you are in corporate. The ban really helped reduce violence at games in the mid to late 80s but they forgot to ban CS gas containers so there was the occasional incident of trouble.(sarcastic smiley)

Bit mental picking on kids though eh.

As a matter of interest, are you allowed into a ground with an umbrella?
I know a couple of wee grounds actually flogged 'golf umbrellas' to us because there was no cover in the last few years, but would Spfl grounds allow them?

As usual its officialdom acting at its worst failing to use any reason. The first time I was aware of the ban was back in around 1983 when I saw a dad with two kids produce two cans of juice and after they'd had a couple slugs a steward came over and said they weren't allowed to bring cans in. Dad asks if they quickly drink it and we'll give you the empty cans and the steward says no and proceeds to pour the juice out the cans and walk away as the 2 kids start crying. It was around that point in life I embraced the attitude that authority sucks big time and I became a ned.

Golf umbrellas became a popular accessory of 'smartly dressed' hooligans in the 1980s. Particularly on sunny days.

Christ what a gigantic waste of time. Can it really be net cash positive to pay a few guys and build the tech to stop 60p cans coming in? Perhaps it's just something for them to do while they scan the crowd for - I dunno. The kind of mass violence that has so blighted football grounds in the last couple of decades. Contraband sandwiches. People live streaming?

Actually is the last one a thing? I notice no one seems to periscope games any more.
    so what do I know

I've taken a golf umbrella in before with no issues. On another note what exactly are the stewards looking for when doing a bag search? I have a pretty peculiar case for my sunglasses which could hide all sorts in including a can of juice and she never even batted an eyelid.
