    Closed For Business

No more transfer business this window.... At least according to the last line of the Stokes story on the official site.

This is a real marker of where this club is now: 8 signings - all done before the league kicks off and none of them on loan, all permanent deals.

We could be greedy and look for one more player, but we have a strong squad in place with some real quality players.

I think this probably still leaves an option to bring in Commons. He can come in any time. And we know that will only be when he is fit.

I think it is fair to say that the transfer business this summer has been excellent and all those worrying are hopefully now happy.

So much for the nonsense being spread about Lennon being unhappy at his budget and the club's lack of transfer activity

    Bring on Saturday!

Yeah I think Commons will still sign as well, but that could be a month or so down the line depending on his recovery.

Lennon must be delighted with the business we've done, the Hibs board have certainly backed him.

Can't wait for the season to start now!

And it's fair enough. Hibs have done brilliantly this transfer window.

I've never known anything like it in my time supporting us. That is one very strong and experienced pool of players we have to choose from. Exciting times ahead. Huzzah!

@1875, i said I would eat humble pie - well, I'm eating it now. Big time. And delighted to do so! (Although I still reserve the right to moan and carp etc on the Bounce when I see fit )

This window has been agonising, but man, has it been worth it.

Not a loan in sight. Full internationals, at good ages. Experienced core who know each other well. Some young, hungry talent. All done and dusted before season kicks off.

Add to that, season tickets in record numbers, and games v Partick drawing 18/19k. Club, players, manager and support who have all tasted success, and want more - and all pulling together and united.

My natural scepticism is telling me to calm it, and for sure we'll have lows this season. But man - what a feeling of expectancy, excitement, and positivity to kick off a league campaign.

This is what it's all about, lads and lasses - as Hibs fans, what a time to be alive.

Tremendous window. Well done Rod Petrie, Leeann Dempster and Neil Lennon. And of course all other members of staff of our wonderful football club.

Also to our support. We've bought season tickets in impressive numbers. We can go and do better though. This window is proof that if we put the money into the club then they'll invest in the squad.

This has the potential to be a fantastic season. Can't $#@!in wait.

I can handle the notion of Commons coming in at a later date with no problem at all. He came to Easter Road mid season last year and impressed instantly, giving the squad a real fillip and a bit of inspiration and creativity about the place.

The fact that he could well be coming in at a later point might suit the team and the player alike very well indeed.

Would have liked a fast left sided player and another goalscoring midfielder but it's like the old saying in football...your squad is always a couple of players short. Commons maybe coming in later although as I said before I am a wee bit sceptical about that.

The club have backed the manager big time. Hopefully the new players and especially the Leithuanians can blend in well to the squad. Hopefully not too many serious injuries and maybe we can have a good first season back.

Given some of the comments over the last few weeks I'd suggest this is the club 'managing expectations'.

Can you imagine what it would be like on here and dotnet if it said the opposite and more new faces were expected?

Every free agent would be turning us down for a variety of reasons, folk stalking the airport and others behind the bushes at East Mains!

I expect at least one more coming in before the windae slams shut and possibly a free agent after it before Commons arrives.

The best transfer window I've ever seen for Hibs. Strong in every department. Skill and strength - experience and youth. A manager who knows what it takes to win - and fights our corner.

Something special is happening at our club.

One other significant thing to take from both the statement from the club on the Stokes signing and the squad numbers allocated for the season, is that the four Youth Academy graduates...Oli Shaw, Fraser Murray, Ryan Porteous and Scott Martin are going to be part of the first team squad for the season ahead and will not be loaned out. This is the first time for a considerable number of years that we have had as many as four youth academy players promoted to the first team squad at the one time. It's very encouraging and I hope all four take their chance when they get it this season. Great to see the fruits of the youth academy revamp of three years ago starting to come through at last. It must give all four lads a huge confidence boost that the manager and the coaching staff have enough faith in their ability, mental strength, and general readiness to play top flight football with a big Scottish club like Hibs.

    Go for it lads !

I reckon we will still try to bring someone else in before the end of the window. In saying that it's amazing to say we could have a settled and confirmed squad before a ball has been kicked in the league.
    Its Liam Henderson to deliver...
And David Gray has scored! The captain!

Interesting...actually when you look at the official statement on the Stokes signing on Wednesday it said that the club were not "expecting" any further business in the transfer window. It didn't say that there would not be any more business.

Felt like the whole of Edinburgh was at the Best game.

I love the look of that squad. There really isn't a name there that induces that 'bombscare' or 'he'll hide' feeling I'd grown used to having in every Hibs line up over the last 20 years. Furthermore, they are all ours, no loans.

Let's hope we can really kick on.
