Never known a club to bring back as many ex players as we do. Always like the lad, but gotta be looking at younger talent.

The unjust abuse he took the first time round would probably and sensibly keep him away from ER for ever more.

Disgraceful treatment he got from quite a few so called Hibs fans.
Probably the same $#@!wits who can be heard on occasion abusing Jason for being a Jambo.

On here too. Demands for him to be punted and to 'give Jay Shields a chance' were quite something.

SW's first season he was honking - truly awful - then he had a close season and came back a different player (kind of same with cummings).

problem is with some people the first impressions stick.

scott brown was another - loads of potential but a bit all over the place - no consistency (even in a match) - then he had that injury and came back a more settled player.

funnily enough i said the same to a united fan about simon murray - that teams need to see the first 20 to 40 starts as an investment.

I totally disagree that SW was honking in his first season. Williamson didn't have a $#@!in clue how to use they kids apart from trying to punt them.

Wasn't he dropped for Alan Reid in the Livi final of 2004?

This will hit the media tomorrow. Lennon definitely in for him. And Whittaker wants it to happen.

    I know it's the Sun

Hibs boss Neil Lennon is trying to piece together a deal to lure Norwich right-back Steven Whittaker back to Easter Road The Scottish Sun
Don't argue with an idiot; People watching may not be able to tell the difference.

In the sun tomorrow - Kenny Millar just tweeted.
Lennon trying to put together a deal apparently.

I'd reckon the Huns (and Sheep?) would take him and the former would definitely offer far more than we could. Our offer would be a massive drop from what he earns now....and what he could still earn from other clubs down south. Even though he's 33 in the summer I'd imagine the odd lower end championship club might offer him a year.

At 33 though and with 10 years of decent wedge behind him, I wouldn't be surprised if he was willing to take the hit providing Lennon was persuasive and positive on our prospects for next season.

    The Sun tweeted this.....

LENNY'S CHASING STEVEN Hibs boss Neil Lennon is trying to piece together a deal to lure Norwich right-back Steven Whittaker back to Easter Road
SunSport can reveal the Scotland defender is high on Lenny's summer wish list as he plans for next season in the Premiership

NEIL LENNON is trying to piece together a deal to lure Steven Whittaker back to Hibs.

SunSport can reveal the Scotland right-back is high on Lenny’s summer summer wish list as he plans for next season in the Premiership.

Whittaker is a target for Hibs
Whittaker, 32, started his career with the Hibees before being sold to Rangers for £2million in 2007.

Keep up to date with ALL the latest news, transfers and goals from Scottish football plus fixtures, results and live match commentary

He switched to Norwich in 2012 when he controversially refused to stay at Ibrox and play Third Division football.

But after five years at Carrow Road, Whittaker’s contract runs out at the end of this season with a number of clubs now interested in snapping him up on a free transfer.

The defender seems certain to have offers to continue playing in the English Championship.

But SunSport understands Whittaker and his family are open to the idea of returning north to Scotland.

Edinburgh rivals Hearts are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

Whittaker is high on Lenny’s wishlist of targets
But Hibees boss Lennon is hopeful his board will be able to put together a contract offer which takes Whittaker back to the club TEN YEARS after he left.

Whittaker has 31 Scotland caps but he has drifted out of Gordon Strachan’s plans during this World Cup qualification campaign.

But Lennon reckons his big game experience would give his young squad a massive boost for next season.

Whittaker is a great player, always has been, but do we really need a marque signing at RB? Our defence is pretty solid. Strange one.

If you read KMs tweets,he's saying SDGs agent has been offering him around. Not certain to stay at Hibs.

It's pish to admit this but The Sun doesn't get Hibs stories wrong these days.....

Aberdeen won't touch him. We all love SDG as much as we love Lewis but under Lennon there won't be much sentimentality. He will want the best we can get in every position. And I think there's huge question marks over the current incumbents in the full back position for next year...

If we want to win then sentiment goes out the window,a statement of intent to the supporters and the rest of the league.
    Hope Hibs go for it!

I like Whittaker but I love SDG. Be gutted if he goes or drops out the side,,he was one of our most consistent performers and pretty much turned up in all our big Cup games.

In some ways I'm not particularly looking forward to seeing the beginning of the break up of the current squad. I know it's inevitable but a big part of our recent, relative success is the close bond between the players and fans. If the worst happens and we lose the likes of McGinn , Cummings and Gray that's a big influence on the pitch and dressing room gone. Be very difficult to replace imo..Especially as on the whole our recruitment has been very disappointing in the last two windows.

No chance that Gray will sign for the Gunts.

He'd be taking a big steaming toly directly into his pension pot if he did.

I think that's pretty much well known these days?

Obviously that particular newspaper is not a liked brand but FWIW they get a lot right when it comes to Hibs.

It'll be a real shame if David Gray leaves Hibernian, but if he does he leaves as a legend. Hopefully he moves back down south if he does leave Easter Road.

Steven Whittaker would be a very good signing - he has experience at a higher level and as an international, but he also knows the club and the league. He's probably a better all round player than Gray, but not a leader in the same way.

This has been doing the rounds this evening, suggestion is that he has signed a 2 year deal. I would be delighted with that, very versatile and more than capable of having an impact in the SPL. Assuming Marciano signs, the only position that needs attention is the striker role. Looking forward to next season!

Assuming both Graham and Cummings are still at Hibs next season then I would agree that we only need to replace Holt with a similar target man type. However if Cummings is sold we will definitely need to replace him with a proven and reliable top level goalscorer. There was talk of Graham going to St Johnstone a month or so ago but nothing has come of that so far. That might still happen. Lennon stated a few weeks ago that we still needed width in the team and I agree with that. We need a genuine left sided attacking player IMO to balance things out. In central defence we have no idea when Hanlon is going to be fit and available to play. His situation must be causing some concern at the club. He hasn't played a competitive game since New Year.

Agree about Whittaker. It would be great to have such a talented, versatile player who has had experience of playing at a high level for years.

How do you know they are offering the longer deal as the source (Hibs.net) doesn't say?
The boy posted: similar wage but one is offering longer term (he didn't know which one) and there's one other club interested.

The most sensible thing I've heard, not from Billy, was he's $#@!ed off on holiday with a few offers from England, seeing if there's any more come in and he'll make his mind up when he gets back.

Anyone know how long he's away for?

I think more of his "inside" info comes from .net. I read both sites and many of his posts here appear after similar info has been on there.

No big deal and I accept he will get some information that comes from a club employee. Good luck to him, he clearly enjoys posting his exclusives.

Dont ever go near .Net, I post up what I am told to fellow Hibs fans on here.

Not once have I claimed exclusives as you put it.

None of my information comes from anyone on that site, maybe they too have a source within the club.

Jack's info sounds pretty credible to me.
Hibs have obviously pitched a deal, the Gunts will be offering something similar and there is likely to be offers from down south teams with little charisma but plenty dosh.
If he gets a huge pay packet he will join a $#@!ty team down south.
The fact that he's even considering offers back home suggests it's not all about money though.

    Too close to call.
