Soz for the hijack @Plasticman by the way...It's just ye find loads of Hibee goodyness on Yachoob once you go in.

As for 78 and the Celtc fans invading the pitch to try to get the game stopped cos they were getting beat..I remember that used to happen quite often. Bams.

I remember beating them at ER one foggy night, and then with the game nearly done and the fog lifting............. match abandoned. Think we lost the replay.

    From a Celtic site -

"it was in October 1975 and there was thick fog at Parkhead. A Pat Stanton inspired Hibs were pumping us 2-0 with 10 minutes left and the ref (Iain Foote ?) abandoned the game. Hibs went nuts as they would have been clear winners. Joe Harper scored a peach for Hibs that day.

With 10 minutes left hundreds of fans invaded the park from the jungle and the ref couldn't see them in the fog. Sadly this led to a small fence being erected in front of the jungle as a punishment.

Game was replayed six weeks later and ended up 1-1."

A more accurate summary of that game is pasted below.
Reality is that the fog was getting denser as the second half went on. However, without the delay caused by the pitch invasion the game would have been completed with Hibs coasting to victory. We wuz robbed!

    Trivia

It was announced that all the shops in the Mount Florida area would close as an anti-football hooligan exercise on the day of the League Cup final at Hampden when Celtic were due to face Rangers and there would be a 1:00pm kick off.
Jimmy Bonthrone tendered his resignation as manager of Aberdeen shortly after the 2-1 defeat by Celtic in Aberdeen.
Match abandoned on 85mins - fo. Fogg had plagued the Glasgow area for the last two days.
Pitch invasion from the Jungle followed and referee could not see fans on the field.
Hibs outraged at referee's decision and complain to the SFL.
Game replayed on December 10th and finished in a 1-1 draw.

    Review
With Hibs deservedly leading through two fine goals thick fog descended on Parkhead. With only five minutes left referee Davidson abandoned the game much to the disgust of Hibs' manager Eddie Turnbull who fumed 'There is no way Celtic would have won that game'.
SFA referees' supervisor Jack Mowat backed Davidson by saying that he had acted correctly by stopping the game.

Sadly the game was marred by an invasion of fans from the Jungle who took advantage of the fog to run on the field.

The Celtic fans in the 33,000 cheered loudly as the game was abandoned but Hibs were left nursing a sense of injustice.

    Teams
    Celtic:
Latchford, McGrain, Lynch, P McCluskey, MacDonald, Edvaldsson, Dalglish (McNamara), Hood, Deans (Lennox), Callaghan, Wilson.

    Hibs:
McDonald Brownlie Schaedler Stanton Barry Blackley MacLeod Bremner Harper Munro Duncan Subs: Smith Spalding
    Goals: Bremner 26 Harper 76

    Referee: R H Davidson (Airdrie)
    Attendance: 33,000

1978, forst year I went to see Hibs in the flesh so to speak. Stransbourg, Dubfy and the 2-1 win over the team in maroon in the Scottish cup. Lotsa good times and some bad times as a 14-15 year old.Remember don't stop me by Queen playing on the radio as a van boy with Bon Accord. The Northern soul/punk nights at Craigroyston school. The little church in Royston that had punk nights..wasn't such a good memory due to one tosser. Ah but just being 15 again...love the chance to try it all again

Obviously the Huns used to do it as well. I remember them getting beat 2-0 by Motherwell that same year so they invaded the pitch and proceeded to immediately pull it back to 2-2 and then won 5-3.

Good year though as the Guntz got relagated

They also did it during the 1972 Drybourgh Cup Final at Hampden. Turnbull's Tornadoes were 3-0 up against Stein's side and then the Celtic fans invaded the pitch and the game was held up for around 25 minutes. Needless to say this affected Hibs concentration and Celtic pulled the three goals back taking the game to extra time. Thankfully the story had a happy ending with O'Rourke and Duncan scoring and Hibs winning 5-3 in the end.

Unfortunately I missed the 4-1 game as I was on duty at Marionville fire station that day. Just as I found out the score and was jumping around we were turned out to the Ladbrokes on ER. As we turned into ER we were faced by thousands of soap dodgers on ER who started throwing missiles at the fire appliance as is their customary welcome after being well beaten. I was smiling from ear to ear which didn't go down well with some and the call turned out to be a malicious false alarm.
