    I've heard £1.8 bandied about.

Will be bitterly disappointed if true, as seems likely.

And I will also expect Hibs to reinvest a significant portion of that fee in purchasing two more strikers of quality. Otherwise we're looking at Simon Murray being our main striker, as it stands. And I'm pleased we've signed him, but not as our first choice...
Hopefully it's a bit more since we knocked back a 1.8m bid in January. Yeah we definitely need to invest a large sum of whatever is paid to us in a couple new strikers that know where the goal is, I'm sure NL will already have replacements in mind

If it's cash upfront then it gives us time to get a replacement,Liam Boyce?

We have to hope the club know what they are doing.

At the moment, if he is away, we are left with strike force of Murray and Graham.

I would be very surprised/shocked if we sold JC for that amount mate.

The boy is a goal machine and our valuation should be 3 Million as a minimum.

If he does leave then Moult would be a decent option at 350k maybe get Hendo on a permanent deal too.

Boyce has been mentioned quite a bit, although I thought he was going down south.

He signed a four-year deal last summer. How do you know there wasn't a release clause?
Either way, are you implying the board are just grabbing the first deal that came along? I am absolutely certain they'll be doing the best deal they possibly can.

    .
I think our valuation of him tends to be a bit subjective at times. We know he's a valuable commodity, being such a natural goalscorer, others will argue that he's not proved that at a level above the Scottish Championship.

Without a doubt he has great potential but scoring goals regularly in the English Championship is a tougher job than what he's been used to. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for around the £2m mark, give or take a little.

Reports elsewhere is suggesting that the fee is over 2 million with a sell on clause.

Time will tell mate but I hope this is true and NL gets to invest most of it in finding us quality players.

with our boards history of being able to get good value for money on our players I'd be very surprised if we have accepted anything less than £2m for him

Scottish Championship to the English Championship is a massive step up in terms of physicality. Cummings isn't proven at Premiership level, so if we receive something close to £2m and reinvest some of that in a replacement who has done it at Premiership level (Boyce, Moult) then subjectively that wouldn't be bad business. Especially if that allows the club to sign another couple of players (Henderson, Stokes) and get the Marciano deal over the line.

I'll be sad to see Cummings leave, he's a radge that loves scoring against the Hearts, and his goals will be a big miss.
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do

Yes indeed. I personally would prefer they don't spread the money made too much around the team. I'd like them to bring in some quality up front if possible.

I'm a bit surprised at Forest's interest really. They have an expensive striker in Britt Assombalonga up front (£5.5m) who is a heavy and prolific scorer when fit - very much a sniper. Would have thought not a perfect fit with Jason.

I agree re his ability to cope with the physicality of the English Championship. It is full of mahoosive centre halves. He will really be stepping up a level in that respect if he goes.

Kenny Millar has no idea of fee and agent Scotland is the only gobshite to give one. He made up 1.4m and 15% which is quickly adopted as gospel by many and has folk raging.

When have Hibs under Petrie ever accepted $#@!e dough?

It was going to happen, we'll get a decent deal - on our terms - otherwise he would be nowhere near Nottingham. We will have targets identified and will have a budget to get better than we would have a few weeks ago.

We have 8 weeks until the season starts proper so calm it down to a panic about what forwards we have at 11 June.....

I guess we don't know what conditions were included in him signing that new deal last summer? Potential for release clause as long as we got promoted?

As said above, I hope they have a plan for replacing him. Murray and Graham up top does not fill me with anticipation.

Forrest need a goal scorer badly and Fanny hat has liked JC for sometime. Why would we let him go 1 year into a 4 year contract for buttons compared to the money kicking about down there. Does look like a banker he is off though, enough time to get in a replacement and some.

    Goodbye scoring goals.

We had better hope we have some good signings lined up because we're now left with Simon Murray and Brian Graham.

Surprised that you didn't see the words "in excess of" within the article which could mean 2, 3, 4m or even 1,000,001 - they have no clue either.

Looks like this would be a no goer
Burton Albion have activated the 500k get out clause and looks like he is off there
All this worrys me we toiled to score last season apart from Cummings surley we have rights to make him stay seeing he has a 4 year deal with 3 left.
Or does it just not work like that

Pure speculation of course but I'd imagine if the fee was set to be above say £2million then the report would say "a fee in excess of £2million" - not, a seven figure fee.

But unlike your good self I'm not "In the game!!"
    So perhaps you're correct.

Thanks for all your goals especially against the Gunts Jase, total legend.

    Moult would be my choice.

Will be gutted to see Jason leave..I hope we've got a clear plan on a replacement of quality (no doubt we have) as the prospect of relying on either Graham or Murray even as a back up is a pretty sobering thought.

If Jason is heading off to play for the fanny, Hibs need to get Boyce, another proven goalscorer. Moult would be a second choice.

Their press are reporting he is due for a medical this week, although no fee mentioned.

Just says we reluctantly accepted the bid of Seven figures.

If we invest in proven goascorers like Boyce or/and Moult I would accept the loss of the Broomhouse Pirlo.

Boyce on the verge of joining Burton Albion mate, Moult would be a good move with Hendo also.

Got a feeling once the window opens we will lose SJM too.

I think Boyces clause has been triggered, we can offer more to County and a big signing on fee to cover the disparity on wages. Hendo does not score goals, only Jason does.

Sadly I think Burton offer more wages than us. Moult is already proven he can score goals at SPL level and will score more with us IMHO.

I can personally see Hendo here before the season starts, as for another striker I can't see Stokes coming back but you never know.

I am sure NL will have strikers in mind to add better quality mate.

    Not what I remember....

They offered much to the anger of John Blackley 50K.

Not a chance we would accept that but scary to think he maybe on way. Hope we have someone lined up if anything comes of this.

No surprise whatsoever with this news . Jason Cummings wanted to leave Hibs last summer just weeks after winning a Scottish cup medal and it took Hibs new manager at the time Neil Lennon, having arranged for Cummings and his agent to fly out to Paris to meet him, to persuade him to sign a new deal. Lennon will have done this because he knew we needed Jason's guaranteed goals last season as we absolutely without question had to win that league. Cummings and his agent will have agreed to sign that deal which will likely have given him a pay rise and a decent signing on fee...on the understanding that once the club were promoted that he would be allowed to go for a fee which would match Hibs valuation. It seems to me that this has now been invoked and we are about to lose our top goalscorer to add to the loss of Grant Holt. If true, like every other Hibs fan I will be sad to see a great goalscorer in the Scottish Championship and a Scottish Cup winning legend leave the club, but like all decent Scottish players he will want to try his luck in England for substantially higher wages and a bigger stage.

What is more important is that Lennon replaces Cummings with a proven goalscorer at the level we aspire to be at or higher. He also still needs to replace Grant Holt. Cummings summer departure from Hibs will have been known about for a long time despite what the media might say, so I am sure that his replacement will have been lined up such is the confidence I have with the professional way Hibs now go about their business in the transfer market. Sad to see Jason leave but totally confident we will end up with the quality we require in the striking department for the challenge of the season ahead.

Tell you what, if this does indeed come to pass - as looks likely - I will miss Jason. I really will. It's not just his goals, I have just loved his general radgeness, and he's put a smile on my face just by being him. Plus, he was getting to be virtually guaranteed to notch against the Gunts. We will all miss that for sure - Hertz will be delighted.

Nicked off facebook but sums it up nicely

From the young Zing King who opened a tin of beans to a man that hammered 5 goals past Hearts in 6 games and goaded them every time he scored.

A man who said the day we were relegated he would stay at the club until he got us back where we belong and stayed true to his word.

A man who dinked a penalty over the bar at Hampden because "I got a new barnet that made me like Pirlo" to the guy who beat a wrestler at his own sport at the training centre.

A guy that scored 71 goals in 150 games and best of all helped us bring home the holy trail with two goals against Hearts and the winning penalty in the semi-final!

Never ever was there a dull moment with Cumdog and never a bigger personality at Easter Road!

    Thank you for the memories!
