Just seen your retweet of this. Always thought he looks like a goal threat.Didn't realise he was 25. Thought he was younger.

Pleased if this comes off, I rate the guy.
Lennon made two attempts to sign him last summer so is clearly a fan.

I really wanted us to sign him for last year and while we were in the championship but I'm not really sure he's what we need if we are serious about top 2 or even 4
He's definitely a talented lad tho and is starting to show some consistency which seems to be an issue with him and I would love him to prove me wrong if we sign him

I watched the second leg of the playoff with my Arab-supporting mate, and thought he looked good. A pest, and a great strike on him. Would not be averse, personally.

Agree with this - on a free transfer too. If its simply a case of us paying him a bit more than the other interested clubs then its a punt worth taking.

I'm hoping that on the couple of occasions I've seen him play (today was one) that he was suffering from 'flu, jetlag, or some other debilitating illness; or maybe had been kidnapped by aliens and whilst he was being anally probed the crafty aliens had replaced him with a lookalike android who had been imperfectly programmed.

Because he's been $#@! when I've seen him.

Curiously I don't get the clamour from some to link us with every championship player under the sun. That's the sure fire way to end up a championship side. It's almost as if people didn't actually see this season as it happened.
Hibs are standing on the brink of history...

Totally agree with Shrink. I've never been impressed with Murray when he's played against us and his performances against Hamilton were dire.

Agree with others, the less championship players the better. We have quite a few players already in the team that have struggled at SPL level. We need a better caliber and quality if we want to challenge top six. The chance Murray had near the end when he went with the right foot instead of the left was enough for me to say no. Lad has no real quality about him.

I'd rather have Andreu than Murray tbh.

I've been speaking to a few of my Utd suppprting pals about this and it's amazing how similar their criticisms of Murray are to the stick Cummings used to get on here "Aye, he scores goals, but he takes 10 shots to convert one / can go missing if things aren't working, etc...". Granted, he is older than Cummings was in his break-out season, but is 25 really too old to improve with decent coaching?

Like I said before, a striker with pace and an eye for goal is a no brainier punt when there is no fee involved.

That said, I'd like to think we were signing him as back-up or an impact sub instead of as a main attacking threat.

It's a gamble but he's costing nowt,if he can do better than Keatings then it's an improvement.

The son of Gary Murray, who played for the Easter Road club in the early eighties, the 25-year-old scored 25 goals in 49 starts for the Tangerines
If he replicates that goal to game ratio for us then he'll be fine. Welcome to Hibs Simon!

If he's being signed as a replacement for Keatings and/or Graham (who will surely be shown the door) then it's a decent signing. His goal return is good, he has pace and a bit of unpredictability about him, but he doesn't look the most technically gifted.
We wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do, and we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time... That's what we're gonna do

Welcome to Hibs. He offers something we didn't currently have in being able to get behind defences and in no way is he a Cummings or Holt replacement.

Its a gamble, has a presence but seemed a bit of a headless chicken from what I seen, he's young so alot to learn and could come good, I do hope were looking at another striker also.

Welcome to Hibs. He offers something we didn't currently have in being able to get behind defences and in no way is he a Cummings or Holt replacement.
    Keatings & Graham replacement.

Think he will be an upgrade on Keatings who I thought was really poor overall

Murray is very fast, and as far as I am concerned you can never have enough pace in your team especially in the last third. The pace of Murray, Boyle and hopefully Cummings will give defences a problem in the top flight IMO. He also scored 18 goals in a very average Dundee United team. He works like a Trojan and can score goals. I think he will be an excellent addition and probably a replacement for Keatings. We will IMO sign a big number 9 to replace Holt and if Graham leaves then someone will come in to replace him. Oli Shaw will probably come into contention for a place next season as well. The big problem we are going to have is if a big offer comes in for Jason Cummings and he wants to leave. I have real confidence in Lennon/ Dempster/Craig/Mathie to have things under control though

There's a photo of him at East Mains in his Hibs training gear posted online by the player himself. (see it embedded in this thread)

Kenny Millar has also confirmed it...which is as good as the Easter Road town crier in the absence of anyone actually doing anything.

If we wait for Hibs it will be August 13th. They've still not announced Fonts and that happened weeks ago, for definite.

Seems daft eh? A good signing (or two) despite some moaners who are never happy, but nothing out the club?

There's one observation I'd make is the timing of him posting himself at East Mains in his Hibs kit. It was less than 24 hours after the final loss to Hamilton. I'd say we'd be pissed off if someone from our squad had done that with such haste and lack of sensitivity. Interestingly the Courier in Dumpdee claims he would have stayed at United if they'd won

I agree that the timing was all what pisses me off with fitba 2017.

I work in Perth and would say that out of the Keatings and Murray trade the Arabs here think they have gained overall.

That phenomenon where the new is always better than the old applies with some of our fans too, does it not? How long before the enclosure mooths are on his back like Colin Nish?

Think if he opens his account for us fairly early on he'll be fine with the majority of the support, otherwise there may be trouble ahead. Shouldn't be this way of course and everyone deserves a fair crack of the whip, some of the chat on dotnet is outrageous!

I think Keatings flattered to deceive during his Hibs career. He didn't score a lot of goals, admittedly did score some crackers, but overall he couldn't be relied upon to as a regular source of goals due to injury & inconsistency. I've not doubt Murray will also be inconsistent, but will perhaps offer more all round that Keatings who was far too capable of going missing for large parts of games.

I'm pleased we have signed this lad. Fast, tenacious, hard-working and with an eye for goal.

    Welcome to the Hi-bees Simon.
