Hugh $#@!burn is raising money for Sarcoma UK in memory of Shaun McKinley

Hibs supporter Hugh $#@!burn is raising money for Sarcoma UK in memory of fellow Branch member Shaun McKinley........

'My name is Hugh $#@!burn and have lived in Sunderland for 34 years, although originally from Fife. I attend all Hibs home games and know Shaun's Dad and met Shaun and son Ross. I followed, like many others, Shaun's courageous struggle with Sarcoma. I attended his moving funeral and decided that I would like to do something in his memory.

I know he was proud to have been able to attend the Scottish Cup Final and see his beloved team win the Cup. I will therefore be cycling from Easter Road to Hampden Park on Monday 22 of May and returning on the 23rd, to raise money for Sarcoma UK.

    Monday 22 May

Depart Easter Road 9am - visiting - Livingston FC - Airdrie
FC - Partick FC - Clyde FC - Rangers FC - Celtic FC - arrive at Hampden Park

    Tuesday 23 May

Depart Hampden Park -visiting - Hamilton FC - Motherwell FC- Hearts FC - arrive at Easter Road hopefully
    mid-afternoon……….Train to Newcastle 6:30pm

Finally a big thank you to all the fitba' teams that are welcoming me into their grounds.'

Guys and girls I can't emphasise how much your words are encouraging and helping me. This battle has barely started but I know you'll be by my side every step of the way - it's giving me great strength - Shaun 16/03/2016

The link works fine - it's your settings that are enabling the swear filter, which is then corrupting the link.

Change your settings* to allow naughty words and all will be well.

If cycling, I Hope he is going to Clyde after Airdrie, unless he is going to the old Shawfield in which case would be better doing Partick Th- Ibrox and then Shawfield and Parkhead, would add a heck of a lot of miles on to go from Maryhill to Cumbernauld and back to Glasgow

    venture in progress

    Hello all, this is Hugh,

thanks for your kind words and support. Think I have got route covered but what's a cycle ride if you can't get lost!!!! This is a venture in progress, I intend to visit all senior football grounds in Scotland, eventually, to quote the phrase, "Shaun McKinley, Live forever". Hoping to cover Fife in August. Then up the East coast to get majority done. The more remote ones will be trickier but as I said, "venture in progress".

As like all Hibby's, I was stunned by the passing away of Shaun but took comfort in the way he touched so many people. This is my way of combining 3 of my 'great loves', Hibs, St.Pat's Branch and cycling. I am blown away by the money already raised for a great cause that means so much to Big G and his lovely family.

keep giving and see you all at the game Saturday.

Not too sure best route from Easter Road heading west out of the Capital, just wing it on the day. Looking to pick up the A89 to Airdrie, then it will be Broadwood for Clyde, then Celtic, Partick, Rangers, then on to Hampden. Following day, head for Hamilton, Motherwell, Livingston, then either Spartans FC for Edinburgh City or Meadowbank. No Hearts as they are knocking down stand but have kindly invited me for a further date, prob when I do Fife clubs.

Have had reply and access to all except Celtic and Spartans, hopefully blag it on day.

Total mileage, not sure prob in region of 150ish miles.

Off top of my head I think it is better to do Clyde-Partick (Maryhill)-Celtic-Hampden, Assume you are missing Ibrox now? If not head there after Partick then swing round to either Hampden or Parkhead, depending on what times you are expected

just a wee update on my plans.

Didn't realise how close Albion Rovers is to my route so now adding them.

As I live in Sunderland have arranged to cycle to both Sunderland FC and Newcastle FC for photographs possibly this Monday or Tuesday. Hoping to be able to add Middlesbrough at a later date.

Overwhelmed by total on 'justgiving page'.

    thanks to all donators.

Funny I was wondering if you left them about because the ground isn't exactly salubrious, or if it was because it takes you a few miles off the direct Airdrie-Clyde route..Ill send in donation..after I get price of what my car is going to cost at garage (I should have known cyclists don't care about extra miles)
