Table is wrong no? Played a game more? Albeit same points differences.

I think Raith at home after the semi.

If Morton win on Tue we can't win ( with a far superior GD ) it on Saturday.

That's if Falkirk and Morton were to win on Sat

That wouldn't be too bad if we beat the sheep. Promotion and a cup final sealed on the same Saturday. Great reasons to celebrate

Hope so! Be a shanner to miss the moment.

Looking at that table too, the defensive record is impeccable, three losses is fantastic. The problem, as has been repeatedly stated, is in the "goals for" column. In my honest opinion, there should have been approximately 20 more goals in there, which would have converted at least 7 of those draws - and we'd have been home and hosed a month ago.

Ah well. Raith on the 26th, please!

A win on Saturday and it's all over...even if not mathematically !
As has been said I care not about other teams results only ours. Just beat QOTS.

Ayr away with a 1-1 draw to get the point we need at that stage.

It was reminiscent of an Ollie complete last minute $#@! up v Motherwell around 1997 IIRC....

Hopefully wrap it up on Saturday but known hibs we won't as we will have an eye on the semi instead of letting that take care of itself.

    3-1 St Mirren.

Mallan defo seems worth a shout at the end of the season? Sure there'll be others sniffing around too.

And I tell you what - Keatings' goal v Falkirk looks like one of the most important goals of the season. Worth his season's wages!

Its looking a massive goal, agree about mallan too. Falkirk play st mirren this weekend and if they fail to win and we win that's the league tied up basically thanks to st mirren being the in form team and beating every one around us

What a job Jack Ross has done at St Mirren. Emptied at the Gunts by Levein always an indication the boy had talent....

I was editing the Alloa Advertiser a year and a bit ago (a freelance stand in for someone on holiday) and the sports editor there raved about him, said it took him a little time to get things right but when he did it was the best Alloa team hed ever seen, so not surprised the same has happened at St Mirren. Deffo someone to watch going places I think.

    Aye.

St Mirren knock in four against team we have failed to beat twice in last fortnight...
Or Morton got shagged by the last team to beat us, who have been the best team in the league for a couple of months now.

Our lack of regular goalscorers is our biggest weakness by a mile...and has been for the three years we have been down in this league.
Take Cummings out of the current Hibs team and I dread to think where we would be just now.
This goalscoring problem simply has to be addressed over the summer and I think it will be.
St Mirren on a sensational run just now and they have really done Hibs a favour tonight.

So after tonight's results... if we win and Falkirk fail to we're champions?
If St Mirren win on Saturday we only need a draw. Given our form that's the more likely scenario

Yeah I see that now. I classed the Morton v DUFC game as a draw. Which obviously it could be but then again it might not. I'm just amazed how badly Morton have tailed off. We are very fortunate.

    3-1 St Mirren.

Mallan defo seems worth a shout at the end of the season? Sure there'll be others sniffing around too.

And I tell you what - Keatings' goal v Falkirk looks like one of the most important goals of the season. Worth his season's wages!

I'd take Mallan and McGinn from St. Mirren
I see Mallan's name getting bandied about a lot. Won't happen as he signed a 1 year contract extension with St Mirren. We seemingly could have had him for some dosh in the January window but decided to spend nowt. So I can't see us forking out even more cash than they were asking for in January?

It's Hibs though and you never know with our undisclosed fees? I'd love him at Hibs

Obviously we need to celebrate a title win/promotion but I hope our celebrations are calm and dignified and not overboard. Disgrace we were ever relegated.

Well, I for one will be going tonto. sorry K but this sounds like one of the comical affectations to Presbyterian digniteee which can be found on Hun boards (even as they simultaneously display not a shred of it, which is where the comparison ends!)

Maybe we should have been more reserved last May, after all we beat a first division team in the final.

    That's just daft.

And you kind of make my point. Our celebrations in May last year were IMO spot on. It was an incredible moment and no celebrations were too much.

You really suggesting getting promoted is on a par with winning the Scottish Cup? Of course you are not.

I have changed my sons birthday celebrations planned for Saturday to the Sunday because I plan to celebrate Hibs back by getting pished on Saturday.

All I'm saying is I think the celebrations of our club in winning a league we should never have been in should not be OTT.

@Smurf I was of course being tongue in cheek in an attempt to illustrate what I think is daft in your own contention. Of course it doesn't compare to the SC win - indeed I'm not sure winning the top flight would match that euphoria even though it would be a far greater achievement.

    However it will mark:

    - our club cheating a living death by getting out of this division just ahead of an inevitable need to downsize fundamentally
    - marks the completion of our revival , which the SC symbolises; after 30 years of underinvestment, under achievement and humiliation culminated in the the nadir of relegation
    - sees us return to where we belong well positioned to be the third most successful side in the country for many years to come if we get our $#@! together
    - is, however unglamorous, a league won, when we failed to win it with better squads in easier leagues (as I believe last season definitely was and probably the season before also).

Reasons enough that you'll have to scrape me off the ceiling - even if
I don't spiral up a lot further than that as at hampem

As ever you make good points.

Perhaps I'm just reminding myself of how I mocked and ridiculed every Gunt I know for how they celebrated winning the division two years ago.

IMHO this was the only season we simply couldn't not win it. That Morton FFS were one of our challengers tells us how $#@!e this league is this season.

I think it was for sure an easier league last year. Points in the sevco games were evenly shared, so effectively neutral in the reckoning. The rest of the league was significantly poorer I think. Less sure about the season before - but sevco were $#@!e and an average hearts team that we had the better of, absolutely romped it; I don't think they'd romp this league.

I completely disagree. The Hibs team of two seasons ago or last season IMHO would have won this league by now. And I think that Gunts side from then would beat us today.
