The bust up at the end tonight

From my seat in the East... a bad challenge on Forster by the Morton no.9 led to a stramash in front of the dugouts which resulted in the Morton sub rightly given his marching orders, McGregor sent off for us for a supposed head butt (someone closer will be able to confirm?) and both managers sent off as a result of the whole thing.

Pretty nasty scenes to end a pretty unmemorable evening of football.

I could see Lennon's rage from the opposite side of the pitch, word of punches being thrown here there and everywhere and it looks like the lighting in the tunnel took a dunt as Darren made his way to the changing rooms.

On to Saturday a manager and centre half short.

UPDATE: Lennon reaction, appeal to be made re McGregor red: http://twitter.com/clydessb/status/847202976674582528

Just seen the highlights on sky sports, the challenge on Forster is horrible. Mcregors red card is laughable, he puts his head towards the boy, the Morton player then moved back and falls over a second later. Looked like Duffy went for Lennon

Lennon will get a ban along with Duffy.

    Lennons passion is brilliant.

Might be a tough call. Haven't seen it so can't comment on the incident, the boys on Hibs TV said like above it was not a red card. Decider will be miss him for next game against Dunfermilne and have him back for Morton away or, appeal he plays this weekend but if we loose the appeal he doesn't play Morton game.

    What's game is more important?

How many red cards will they overturn for a team in a season, before having to admit total incompetance?

Aftter seeing it, what an absolute erse that ref is. It was right in front of him, Appeal all the way.

It's on Twitter the sky highlights. Shocker of a tackle shocking cheating with feigning a head butt. No wonder Lenny was raging - he cares.

From where I sit high up in the East it looked like a total free for all, but the tackle on Forster was shocking. I said to the folk around me that it was a certainty that a Hibs player would be sent off when it had all calmed down and right on cue a red card flashed in front of McGregor. Referee had lost control of the game by then.

Correct. The standard of refereeing is really starting to get to me - see assault on Shinnie in first 5 mins v Fawkirk - not dealt with, etc,, etc, etc...

I'm glad Lennon gets into these ****s, and I wish he'd sparkled that mutant Duffy.

It looks like Duffy kicked that off but NL wanted to utterly batter him for whatever he said.

Most exciting moment of the night. Lennon was that much up for a boxing match that he was being held back by Rocky!

McGregor's red card must be overturned.

Tell you what, Neil Lennon would absolutely batter $#@! out of that baldy **** Duffy.

We were $#@!e last night but so were they; a draw wasn't the worst result in the world for us but a disappointing performance nonetheless.

Daz's red simply has to be rescinded; he did nout.

Watched the clip from SSN...Duffy and his coaches had no right to go charging into the Hibs technical area to confront an understandably irate Lennon. McGregor's red card should be rescinded but I have a feeling it won't be. The challenge on Forster was disgraceful. Neil Lennon is what he is as a person....a fiery, passionate man with a short temper. As a manager though he is still well on course to achieve what he was hired to achieve, however he will know better than anyone that we still have a lot of work to do before the job is finished for the season.

Ken this, in the cold light of day I'm definitely not in the "Lennon was embarrassing" camp. He's actually said he likes Duffy away from the game and there is healthy respect, but he simply wasn't having their manager, team, and entire backroom staff charging into our area and giving it big licks.

I agree with him, and I'm kinda proud of him.

    Absolutely this.

I reckon the players will have loved it as well, shows that he has their backs 100% and will defend them to the hilt if required.

Hibernian are no longer a soft touch.

Im still in that camp! Delighted we finally have a manager that will back his team in any dog fight no matter how ugly it is, I'm sure he is slowly winning over the fans that dknt want him as manager too...his name is getting changed more and more recently

not great from Lennon having looked at footage again and he will be banned from the dugout for a while and be hard to argue that's unfair, his interview won't have helped his case much either.

I've got to disagree - at the outset Lennon was only raging about the tackle to the ref when they piled into his area mob handed - Duffy clearly says something to NL which sparks off the scuffle. He should have screwed the nut a bit but it's down to them.

It's one of those situations where opinion is defined by if he's your manager acting that way or not, the way you feel about his actions. The same with Duffy incidentally.

I've mixed feelings about the whole thing. The old-fashioned traditionalist in me thinks of how the game used to be with behaviour like this almost unthinkable when you think of some of the old-school bosses etc. On the other hand, I have grown slightly tired of Hibernian Football Club trying at all times to do the 'right' thing and behave in such a way. I do believe in that but it leaves us at a disadvantage against 'some' other clubs in the modern game and world. Witness the financial goings-on across the road etc.

So to judge Lennon's action in isolation for one moment here, firstly, he should not have been on the pitch - whatever had happened on it, that in itself puts him in a weak position and also occasioned the ridiculous actions by Duffy. Sure, I like the fact that he stands up for his players like the majority do but he played an incendiary part in that incident which was utterly worsened by the opposition manager and he will obviously be punished for it.

By the way on the paggering score, I don't pander to opinion from Lennon's detractors that he was playing the whole 'hold me back' routine. I think if he could have possibly got at Duffy as he was furiously trying to do he would have been all over him like a rash and absolutely battered him. I think it's fortunate for him and the club that he didn't, which in itself is food for thought.

Anyone else thinking Mortons statement is trying to wind hibs up for next game? Here's what Lennon has said about the whole thing today.

I thought that Lennon presser was grim. Euphemisms??! He clearly said Duff Jimmy asked for a square go.

    Pretty embarrassing.

Sadly I think we will lose the appeal as Daz has to be held back a few times, even though he doesn't connect with the cheating soap dodging prick the intent and aggressiveness is there for the SFA to see.

I think he should have said paraphrasing, rather than euphemisms. It's what he meant.

Still not worthy of a red card though , if he was sent off for head butt he'll surely win the appeal simply because there wasn't one

The bit of the original interview I saw he started by answering the question by saying "I couldn't hear what he said"
The follow up question was "what did you think when you saw Duffy coming at you?"
"I thought he was coming for a square go"

That was paraphrased euphemistically later by the hundog Meeks.

That's probably correct. Doesn't take away from the whole presser being all about Lennon- something he claims to dislike yet perpetuates at any given chance.

I liked what he said on Wednesday, it showed he's not going to be messed about, and neither will his team, but that transcript from yesterday is pretty dire. He makes some good points about number of fouls by both teams, telling the sun reporter to bolt, but the overarching feel of it all- and he'll know this- was about him.

The link in the first post shows Lennon saying ' The Morton manager, asking for a square go, which is fair enough'
