If we win against Morton am I right in thinking...

...that thereafter every week is possible champions week if we win and Morton and United lose? I actually think it will drag on a few weeks but it will be a great position to be in.

    - - - Updated - - -

Actually united would, I think, have to lose and then fail to win on another occasion (otherwise they could still tie on points). But they play Tuesday night I think so hopefully...

We can win it at Morton away if we win next 2 and Dundee Utd don't win next 2.
Think we'll do it officially against QoS at Easter Road on the 15th

As long as we don't win it at home to QOS on the 15th. It's the one home game I'm gonna miss this year!

I'll miss at an all @aggie - going away for half term. It will also be my first missed home game apart from brondby when I was on summer hols. You just know it's gonna happen!

Dundee U and Morton both play their games in hand on Tue the 11th so could do it without playing,United play Falkirk before then too.

Perfect world would be to win it a week before the semi. Give the players a rest and play the boys.

I'm back in Edinburgh for the QOS game so personally hope we DO wrap it up then! 😉

Been predicting this fixture as the one since the turn of the year. Looks less likely now, QoS at home is the one.

If Hibs beat Morton at home on Wednesday and win at Dunfermline away on Saturday, we will go to Cappielow with a chance of winning the league on 8th April. If we beat Morton at Cappielow, provided Dundee United haven't won all three of their games in the meantime, we will have mathematically won the league. If Morton mess up against Dumbarton in between our fixtures against them, then we may only need a draw.

To be honest, I’m not really bothered WHEN we win it – and I won’t be celebrating massively when it happens (hope I’m not jinxing it here!) because it will be mixed emotions - a bit of relief, and also a slight annoyance that we have been out of the top division so long.
If we can keep a healthy level of attendance then we should have sufficient income with the return of the TV cash and better commercial returns to allow us to invest in one or two quality players who will be needed to make sure our return is part of a long term programme of improvement.
I don’t think huge changes are needed to the squad, but that may depend upon whether existing team members want to stay as well as those who we may want to move on.

    Says it all for me.

However, I think there will be fairly decent turnover in personnel in the summer...

    Yup.

    Efe
    Rocky
    Shinnie

    all leave.

    Lewis
    Gray
    Fyvie
    Humphrey
    Holt
    DMac
    Bartley
    Fonts
    Keatings
    Boyle
    Harris
    Laidlaw
    Gallacher

All out of contract. Obviously not all will leave and we're waiting to confirm promotion as are the players before entering negotiations, but out of that list, i'd only be very keen on DMac,Fyvie,Lewis,Bartley,Gray and Rocky staying. If we could convince Efe that would be very good. We'll need at least 2 goalies signed.

And that's before SJM and Cummings are possibly sold.

    Big changes this summer.

He only signed a 6 month deal in January...to be honest I couldn't give an assessment as to whether he is a good player or not given he has hardly played any games for us due to injury. He was certainly a very good winger for Motherwell when he was there.

He looked terrific and produced for 20 mins on his debut.

Thereafter, in future games he looked disinterested. One game in particular (think it was Ayr league game) where I would go so far to say he was hiding. A winger reluctant to take on a full back in this division isn't good enough for me.

Of course I hope he proves me wrong on route to the title and retaining the Scottish Cup....

    I agree.

And, sadly, I think we're going to need them. The lack of business both last summer and over January has, by and large, put us into a situation where lots of summer activity is going to be required.

Let's be honest here,if you were a decent player, would you really sign for Scottish Championship side Hibs?

We'll have a far better pool of players to choose from as a Premier league side than we would as a Championship side.

We've got players that have(hopefully) got us promotion,we go up,we sign better.

At least this time we should have a manager who can dedicate his entire time to this issue from the Monday after we win the Scottish Cup and can also dedicate a sizeable amount of his time from the day after we win the league. Really there's little excuse for not getting things right this time as long as the bean counters give Lennon quick accurate figures on what kind of budget he has.

    Absolutely.

The difference will be that we will be able to afford better terms, and just as importantly (more so even) we will be playing on a bigger stage.
It could be entirely different players (or types of player) that we would want next season compared to those we could have, but didn't sign in January.

Its pretty much won already, Falkirk won't go unbeaten till the end and neither will Morton.

Its only ours to feck up but our inconsistent form still leaves me with doubts. I reckon a win on Wednesday and at least draw at Morton and I'll be totally confident. Let's face it if we lose both games against Morton we are in theory only 1 point ahead of them. With Hibs it is never over until it is over.

Lose both and we'd still be 4 points ahead of them plus GD

true but they'd have a game in hand, which on that kind of form you'd have to back them to win.

Yes, but Morton then have a home game in hand against St Mirren, so in theory it would be GD and 1 point. I think we'll turn up Wednesday so all this is hypothetical but our current team has already proven they are not always up for it (although in the real important games of late DU and Falkirk they have) so I'm not as confident as many others seem to be.

Now that the finish line is in sight; I don't think there will be the same 'motivation problems' that we've seen previously (i.e. vs Dumbarton)

Neither am I and we were nowhere near as emphatic against Falkirk as against DUFC. Mind you Falkirk sat in where Morton should come at us as united did. Morton will be out to try and win the league whereas I think Falkirk seemed to prioritise not getting beat which is odd unless they'd already decided to target second.

I think scoring the winner in injury time on Saturday has perhaps clouded many fans assessments on the actual game itself from a Hibs point of view. Only my opinion, but I thought we toiled to create anything for most of the game and in reality a draw would have been a more accurate result. Not complaining obviously, we got the win we needed in great style, but we still have plenty of work to do starting on Wednesday. Having McGinn back available should help, but our home form particularly since New Year still leads me to think we will have a few ups and downs before we hopefully get over the line.

Let's be honest here,if you were a decent player, would you really sign for Scottish Championship side Hibs?
I agree with you, bud. But my point is that Hibs were clear favourites for promotion this time, the finance and prestige of being the Scottish Cup holders and having European football would have been something of a draw, and we brought in... Well, nobody. Nobody that contributes to the development of the squad for next year. I think that's really disappointing.

Personally, I think the biggest issue will be if the transfer fees commanded from the (likely) sale of Cummings and McGinn are invested back in the team. They absolutely have to be.

We've lost 3 all season (the same as Hearts when they were down),I prefer to look at what Hibs can achieve rather than the other teams.

That is a good stat and hints that we are more likely to end up with a win and a draw against Morton than any defeats. That would do me for sure. It really is ours for the taking and that's what really matters.

Actually united would, I think, have to lose and then fail to win on another occasion (otherwise they could still tie on points). But they play Tuesday night I think so hopefully...

Noticed it was 1-0 Ht. These teams are scrapping for survival, all in our favour, lots of points heading in all directions.

    From Sky

"Hibernian remain 10 points clear at the top with six games remaining after their 0-0 draw with Greenock Morton, who moved above Falkirk into second with a game in hand.

It leaves Neil Lennon's side 12 points from guaranteeing the title and from securing promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
    Space to let

Thankfully Dundee Utd, Morton and Falkirk have all been dropping points as much as we have, because if any of those teams were to go on a run between now and the end of the season, our team doesn't look close to be able to pick up 12 points from the remaining games.

Bottom line for me is that last season we had a team that would compete in the top third of the top league. I'm now not convinced this team could get any higher than the bottom third. Major surgery required in the summer. Watching Lennon long before he kicked off he looked more angry and restless than any manager I've seen in the Hibs dugout.

I'll go lower - 6 more points would be enough. I don't think any of the 3 teams lagging behind us are gonna get more than 65 points this season. Hopefully we get a lot more though. Results turn out right and we can win it at Morton on the 8th.

If Morton replicate their best 7 game form over the season we need 7

Its a truly mental league this season where anyone can drop points in every game. We've lost points against every team in the league! I wonder if any team has a 100% record against another?
