Read this article regarding Barcelona's win over PSG,

"all around me, people were hugging, jumping, screaming. Grown men were crying and strangers were leaping into each others arms. Unlike so much of modern sport, there was nothing contrived or orchestrated about these celebrations, about that moment.

This was deep, instinctive passion at its most authentic and unrefined, just pure, wordless, thoughtless exhileration. And it is surely for moment like this, that sport is so compelling. From a personal point of view, being there was a privilege.

When 'that goal' went in, I was standing open-mouthed trying to take in what had happened and reminding myself to savour the moment. Something incredible had just happened and I was lucky to witness it in person.

There are no words to capture the full range of the emotions of that moment.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL AGAIN"

Funnily enough that crossed my mind when I read the same article. 210516 was far more profound as well. Barca achieved a great comeback but their fans aren't exactly long suffering, and celebrations were joyful but hardly possessed of the cathartic euphoria of our day, and frankly - in whatever modest way - it's life changing effect.

Hibs were just an answer on 'The Chase'!

Question was: "Which Edinburgh team won the Scottish Cup in 2016?"

As opposed to "which English team won the Scottish Cup in 2016?"

Not even close to our feeling or that of Leicester fans or countless other clubs who rarely win anything.
I don't doubt there are passionate fans amongst the many football tourists but they've seen countless trophy wins fuelled by some of the best paid players in the world - like their cousins Royal Madrid (Spanish old firm types ken)

Saw this article about global corporate superpower Bartha highlighted on twitter yday - without reading more than the headline I get the drift

The Madridification of Barcelona: How Barca went from to just another global superbrand

    More than a club

Havent watched Champions league for a while but wish I'd turned over yesterday to see the comeback mind....

The only set of fans out there who might have experienced something similar to Hibs are those who follow the Chicago Cubs. Obviously it was nowhere near as acute as a ten minute comeback to win for the first time in 114 years despite making and losing 10 finals. Since 1908 was pretty impressive though, and they broke it in 2016 too.

Corporate whores though they may have become, Citeh's aguerrrroooo moment is IMHO the closest in british football. They may have not gone as long without winning leagues, but what they must have endured as neighbours of Man U, makes it the nearest I think - imagine how it must feel that your neighbours, and indeed everyone else, don't even see you as their 'derby'. While leicester fans will have enjoyed something close also, I don't think it's coloured with the same exorcism of underachievement and humiliation, because they weren't underperforming before, they massively over performed last year.

If the likes of Newcastle United were to win something that might be closer still.

ps Agree on Chicago Cubs... the parallels were striking, right down to fans chalking names of those who never saw it on the wall of wrigley field.
