    Sundays Derby

I hope Neil sits ALL our team down this week, Sat or Sunday morning and plays all the videos of our amazing year being Scottish Cup Winners, between the build up, The Final, and the aftermath celebrations.
Let the guys who weren't involved see just how much it means to us all, and how much pumping this lot of no good losers out of OUR cup run means to ALL of us. Get them all concentrating, staying focussed, and composed. LETS DO THEM HIBERNIAN....LETS DO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS OF AN APPROACHING NERVOUS BREAKDOWN IS THE BELIEF THAT ONES WORK IS TERRIBLY IMPORTANT

I see Willie Collum`s got the gig. Not Thompson at least. Guess a referee of sheer incompetence is a slight improvement over an outright cheat.
I started out with nothing and i`ve still got most of it left.

How do we play this one? The gunts are confident just now and will come flying out the traps.

Heart says get right into them. Head says stop them playing and hit them on the counter?

I reckon it's got to be 3-5-2. Possibly bringing in Bartman for Fyvie (I know I'm more critical of the lad than most on here, but his habit for stray passing when he will be going toe-to-toe with mutants like Nicholson and Walker gives me the fear).

One thing is for sure, Cummings must start!

Not sure about pitching Forster into a back three for this game - he ain't played in a while, like. That said, just Fonts alongside Daz gives me the fear a bit.

    4-5-1, maybe? e.g.:

    Laidlaw
Sir David - Daz - Fonts - Lewis
    Bartley - Fyvie
    SJM - Keats - Boyle
    Cummings

I dunno, like. Getting nervous now already! Gonna be brutal watching on the fcukin tellybox.

Will Hanlon be fit for this or is he still out?

3-5-2 with Forster instead of Hanlon (who's comfortable on the ball) doesn't fill me with great confidence to be honest.

I reckon the diamond will return with Bartley at the base, McGinn & Fyvie in the middle and Keatings at the tip behind Holt & JC.

I think he said last week that he'd miss this one - may be back next week though so unless there has been a really unexpected recovery time I think we'll have to do without him.

I'm happy they've won a couple of games and are just about to start ruling the world again. Hopefully they are way over confident.
I can see a few changes from Saturday.
Humphrey, Shinnie, Keatings will dropped and Holt, Cummings and Bartley will be in. I think he will load the midfield and rely on Holt to be a nuisance up front.
The pitch at that dump is a mess and I doubt if we'll see any decent football on Sunday.
Anyway whatever team is playing just feckin pump them. pleeeeeeeeaaaasssseee

Could well be how we set up, only thing I don't like about it is Bartley and fyvie playing together, every time they do they practically fall over each other all game! I think holt might start up top with JC Lennon likes him away from home in the rougher games

Cummings better start. It's at the business end of the season. Only reason he shoudnae be startin now is when he's injured/suspended. Too boot, he also loves a goal against the Gunts.

Over the last few days, lineups, the way we set up ect has been running through my mind constantly.

    Laidlaw
    SDG McGregor Fontaine Lewis
    Bartley
    Fyvie Dylan SJM
    Holt Jase

That'll no doubt change as the days progress. Regardless, just get $#@!in intae thum Hibs!

Fyvie won't be dropped for this game.
    Its Liam Henderson to deliver...
And David Gray has scored! The captain!

100% Jase and Bartley in the starting line up.

For me we get in their faces and stop their midfield from playing, Bartley will be crucial in this.

We have enough in depth to keep the pressure going if anyone gets tired on the pitch, one of their new defenders tends to go too up front and leaves them with gaps at the back that's when we attack that side, their defence will flap at our pace.

Jase loves a goal against them, give him good service and it will be all over. We have goals all over the pitch, they don't. Remember the DVD when Bartley said the Gunts were trying to imtidate us and we all know how that ended eh.

Keep the faith I am going 3 1 to us, $#@!ing smash them on and off the park!!

Fontaine gives me the $#@!s to be honest, hasn't been a regular for a reason. Cummings must start, if he doesn't we lose our big game goalscorer.

I should hope not , but if its not happening for him you wouldn't honestly be hugely confident of anyone else weighing in with a goal

The days of them bullying us are over mate, what power they played a very awful Huns side, they struggled against Motherwell until they went down to 10 men. NL will have everyone one of them up for this as deep down he hates them as much as us. Our players are use to the Derby atmosphere where as theirs aren't and they will prove costly for them.

And we struggled against Ayr and the atmosphere thing is in my opinion irrelevant . Its who does best on the day and hopefully we take the chances we often pass up .
I'm not hugely confident but hope we can sneak it or take a replay

Totally agree. If we are going for McGinn, McGeouch, Fyvie and Bartley as a midfield 4 then we have no goals from midfield. This has been the case for seasons now and was only addressed when we added Commons for a fckin month.

Holt's goals record is a joke but might cause a bit of bother if he stops trying to win fouls and get in about their defence. I don't see that midfield creating much either so just get balls into the box and see what happens. Hopefully Lennon tries to get a midfielder to get into nosebleed territory now and again to add an extra body.

Lennon might go with one up front and either Keatings or Boyle behind which wouldn't be a bad shout providing they don't isolate Cummings. I'm assuming that cant will start as there's no goals in the team otherwise.

Whilst the Saviles are overhyped based on two wins, Hibs other than the Dundee United game have been totally average albeit getting a few good results and building a gap when United imploded.

I'd go with a strong midfield without any lightweight passengers like Shinnie or Humphreys who will struggle on a $#@!e pitch with Gorgie slags in their faces all day.

Reality time for Hibs fans now at least when so many blowhards had us as certs before Wednesday of last week!!

And we struggled against Ayr and the atmosphere thing is in my opinion irrelevant . Its who does best on the day and hopefully we take the chances we often pass up .
I'm not hugely confident but hope we can sneak it or take a replay
We lost to Ross County then Falkirk but we still beat the Huns and won the cup.

They are the SPL team ( $#@! knows why) we always raise our game and if any player can't get up for a Derby then they shouldn't be playing in one.

Dont agree mate to say we have no goals in McGinn, McGeouch, Fyvie or even Bartley anyone on their day can score goals, who would have had that prick Ozturk to score against us at ER.

I hope our players are up for it but lets face it they should be up for every game (Its their job ffs)

If you had money on them scoring it would have been Walker, Patterson, or the other prick Nicholson.

My point is anyone can score, we wouldn't have had Hanlon scoring the second the last visit there.

Better than all except McGinn I'd guess.

Yip, anyone can score - even Oxley did - but our midfielders need to reverse a trend of being fuk all threat to the opposition. Now is as good a time as any to fix that.

This line-up please. The PBS is to narrow to play with width anyway. I'd perhaps swap Fonts for Forster (is Forster left-footed?)

Forster is right footed. I don't think Fyvie and Bartley play well together very often.

Ah right, maybe not such a great idea then. Feel with that midfield 4 we should at least control the midfield though? May not create as many chances but should dominate the midfield, I'd put those 4 up against any 4 the gunts can throw at us. Wouldn't be as confident with a different formation featuring Shinnie or Squirrel although the latter could come on and make an impact.

Another lineup that's crossed my mind is the diamond in midfield as mentioned earlier in the thread.

    Laidlaw
    SDG McGregor Fontaine LS
    Fyvie
    Dylan SJM
    Keats
    Holt Jase

No doubt NL will see it differently.

Trying to out guess the tinkerman usually means I get it way off.
Big game for Laidlaw a wee mistake last week and a crowd baying for blood.Step up young man.
Defense will pick itself oh Paul I miss you.
Midfield mmmh Bartley or Fyfie , horses for courses , Fraser one our best performers all season , but poor pitch which lends itself tae a physical battle I wouldn't want to be a football manager. Bartley gets the nod.Physicality and hieght at set pieces.
I'm never confident playindg the ****s , it's in my DNA . Please just win Hibs.

One tactic we must employ is the weakness of their keeper with cross balls , Jason be on your toes and anticipate mistakes.

3-0 to the Hibs. Quick goal, Merricks shuffling of feet and much blaspheming. Second before half time and Merricks go tonto. Boo,boo. Hibs get the third with a few minutes to go until the final whistle ensuring my wedge. Merricks who remain are once again stunned and some sobbing. Hibees everywhere are in heaven and already looking to the draw. Simple.

Does anyone think Lennon is playing mind games in the paper this week? All this talk of "not thinking about the derby", he would "rather the game wasn't happening", "it was going to be a hard game regardless of Hearts current form" etc... Its all very unassuming and well... un-Neil Lennon.

I reckon it is a smoke-screen to build up confidence at their end. Lennon must well up for this, its the kind of game he thrives on.

I wonder how the insipid displays from a few individuals last Saturday has affected how Lennon was previously considering setting up. He must've been tempted to go with wide players as Hearts still look a bit vulnerable in that area...I don't think he will now and we'll see the narrower, away from home, pragmatic approach that gives the opposition very little space to play in.

I'd like to see big Marvin play...I think this game is talior made for him and his extra height would also be useful. Jason must start..Im wondering who will partner him or if we'll even go 2 up front.

Ive still got confidence that there are enough players in our side who will perform on the day...the likes of Gray, Lewis, McGregor, Fyvie, Mcginn, Big Marv (if selected) and Cummings will all be reliishing this game. I've faith in these players that they wont let us down and in Lennon, his experience of preparing a team for a big occasion trumps his opposite number.

    0-1 Hibs Cummings for me.

In the game they played against the huns every player on their team apart from the goalie and one other had a pop at goal. They managed to score 4 against an albeit poor hun team but still, I think they do have goals throughout the team.

In the game they played against the huns every player on their team apart from the goalie and one other had a pop at goal. They managed to score 4 against an albeit poor hun team but still, I think they do have goals throughout the team.

Ah. I agree with that. I thought you were replying to The Familys comments that they dont have goals from all over the park: they do and we will need to close players down very quickly to stop them having potshots.
    They're gone, not here, forgotten

    The city is now Hibernian

Dont agree mate to say we have no goals in McGinn, McGeouch, Fyvie or even Bartley anyone on their day can score goals, who would have had that prick Ozturk to score against us at ER.
Luckily, we don't have to agree. We can just look at the stats from the BBC:

    13 - Jason Cummings
    05 - Martin Boyle
    04 - Brian Graham
    03 - Grant Holt
    03 - John McGinn
    02 - Kris Commons
    02 - Paul Hanlon
    01 - David Gray
    01 - James Keatings
    01 - Andrew Shinnie

There are precious few goals in this team. Of the 38 times we've put the ball in the net, Jason Cummings (who's sat out a lot) is responsible for more than a third of them. The reason we're six points ahead in the league is because we've a mean defence that doesn't give very much away, not because we score goals or they're spread around.

    The opposite is true.

Sure, you can argue that "anyone can get a goal". Aye. They can. But that doesn't suddenly mean that they will, or the logical conclusion of that argument is that every team has goals spread around them.

    Cummings, barring injury, must start.
