    Hello from Charlene

Hello. As you might have seen I'm standing for one of the fan rep positions. I know I have never participated in this forum before but I felt it was important to introduce myself and give you all the chance to ask questions. I will be active on here through out the election and obviously would use this forum as one of many ways to gather your thoughts if I was to get elected.

Good luck with your campaign.I must admit I'm not sure what difference a fans Director can make. It's a tough gig. Also as a director you are constrained as you are governed by directorship rules. If elected what difference do you think to a home and away fan? What's your view on loyalty points system being scrapped?I feel adult season ticket should be circa £340 so it's a decent deal. What's your thoughts?I'm open minded who gets voted in. I'm thinking we need fresh faces.

I should start by saying I think Frank & Amit have done a good job. However one area that I think could be enhanced is communication between Fan Reps and distance fans like myself , there are surprisingly perhaps to some, numerous Hibs fans in the Dumfries area who attend home games occasionally, how would you engage with these fans to encourage a more regular attendance rate from them. Your thoughts would be of interest. Thanks... and good luck.

Are you currently a season ticket holder? And for how many years?

Would you agree that there's potential to grow the existing season ticket base? And if so how could the club make being a season ticket holder a more attractive proposition through its communications with existing and potential new season ticket holders?

    Hi Charlene

Out of approx 50 first team games last season how many did you attend?

it will probably be expected by many fans that a supporters representative attends the vast majority of games home and away.

as Greenpower mentioned did you agree with the decision to scrap the loyalty points system?

Seems to be following lots of Hibs fans including me . Sorry but i'm not interested

    - - - Updated - - -

Lets be honest , none of these reps have the slightest interest in this website . I'm afraid its just a load of self promotion and social climbing though i wouldn't level that at Frank , at least he'd happily talk to you .
So none of them will get the vote from the Forza jury

OK I've had a wee wander through her twitter feed and she does do an inordinate amount of running in London for a domiciled Dunedin.

    Hi GReenpower,

Thanks for your questions. I agree that there will definitely be constraints, and there isn't any point in promising the earth.

What I can promise is what my approach would be the role, should I be selected. I want to see a more structured approach to gathered suggestions and feedback from as wide a range of Hibs fans as possible. I'd do that using social media, speaking to fans at games and club events, using forums like this and responding to emails.

Rather than just receive this information though, I want fans to see more about what happens with it. Before each board meeting, I'll share my summaries of all the discussions and suggestions I've had. Hopefully this will help exchange good ideas, and give fans better sight of what other are talking about too.

After the board meetings, I'll give supporters a debrief - YouTube videos and a typed summary, available online.

    Hi south west hiby,

I think the key is by trying to be as open as possible. It's all very well to encourage people to speak to me, and I'll definitely be happy to read emails/ messages or speak in person, but being pro-active using social media or forums can also help reach out to groups of fans who presently perhaps don't feel as well represented as they might.

    Hi Wannabehibee,

Thanks for your question. I do currently live in London, although I travel home regularly to visit family and of course watch Hibs. I also work from Scotland on a fairly regular basis, so there will be no issues for me in meeting the requirements of the role. I will be able to attend every board meeting, and I spent a few years setting up then leading the West of Scotland Marie Curie fundraising group so I'm comfortable with juggling the commitments of this role and work.

I grew up in Edinburgh and have been a season ticket holder continuously since in my early teens, despite studying in Aberdeen and living in Germany for a year. Hibs have always been worth travelling for!

    Cheers,

    Charlene

And the winner is BIG Frank , every time he is in Dumfries he seeks me oot and we get a blether which is always informative. Hibs man through and through. Amit arranged for the Scottish cup tae come doon tae Palmerston for a charity match I was involved with and made an effort to meet up at Falkirk away. Top blokes even though their hands are tied on the bigger issues . I see no reason for change , let them develop the role a wee bit more I say and see where that takes us.

I'm up really early like a big kid its Derby day.........well for me.

    Hi Greenpower,

Thanks for your question. I agree that the two fan representatives will be constrained - there is no point in promising the earth. However, I don't believe that means these positions can't make a difference.

Having two people on the board who are totally focused on engaging the views and feedback to the supporters is a good thing. Should I be successful, I'll ensure that before every board meeting I collect views as widely as I possibly can, from forums like this, social media channels, to face to face meetings at games/ club events and so on. But I want to go further than just this. I think the key area the supporters reps can improve is through bringing this information together, so before each board meeting I'll share my notes online so everyone can see what discussions I've been having across the full range of issues.

I also want to see more done to share the results of these discussions with supporters. After each board meeting I'll offer a short video debrief, and have minutes prepared and shared online. Obviously, there will be limits on what can be shared, but I'll push the board to share as much as possible so that supporters can see that when decisions are made, they have been made with all the available evidence and have been made considering the impact on the fans.

Thanks for your question south west hiby. I think this is the key part role of the supporters representatives - whoever is selected should be doing everything they can to get views from as many supporters as possible. Of course, it's easy to say that I'm approachable, but I feel that puts the onus on fans to come forward. I want to be more proactive - as I've said in my previous post I'll make an effort to canvas views from a number of sources ahead of board meetings, and bring them together (and share the results of this with fans).

    Hi Charlene

How do you think you can fulfil this role when you (i believe) work in London?
    Hi Wannabehibee,

I do live in London, however I don't think this prevents me from fulfilling the role. I travel home regularly to visit family and of course watch Hibs, I've been a season ticket holder continuously since in my early teens (despite studying in Aberdeen for a few years and living in Germany for a year), I've always found Hibs more than worth the journey!

Meeting people in person will be a key part of the role, but I think there is a limit on how many face to face meetings any one representative can have, and that's why I'm keen to take advantage of as many sources as possible to try and get views from a wider section of supporters than I believe is currently the case.

I also work from Edinburgh regularly - should I be successful I'll be at every board meeting.

Well, I've had some experiences there over the years, I've been hit by pies and my mum has been spat on. Maybe we should build a wall, and make them pay for it?

Are you currently a season ticket holder? And for how many years?

Would you agree that there's potential to grow the existing season ticket base? And if so how could the club make being a season ticket holder a more attractive proposition through its communications with existing and potential new season ticket holders?
Yeah, I've been a season ticket holder since I was 13 (so this is my 14th consecutive year). I sit in the famous five upper with my parents and grandad.

As to how the club can make being a season ticket holder more attractive, I think we are doing fairly well given the numbers of current season ticket holders - and I'm also aware that I can't really say I'll deliver anything in this respect - that's not what the role is afterall. But, I can promise that should I be successful, supporters will be more aware of discussions that take place in the board, and that I'll be doing my best before every meeting to ensure that I collect views from as many fans as possible.

On the pitch at Hampden, going to QoS today and ICT away for the replay.

Whilst all that is commendable what does that have to do with representing the fans at board meetings and being their voice? Nothing. The fans rep has turned into something completely different from what folk envisaged IMO.

You are 100% correct mate absolutely hee haw with what was perceived by us fans. However if I may conjecture further , the role of fan rep was a PR exercise developed by LD to make us feel closer to our club. Get us buying shares etc , which I would of done anyway. The question really is in my humble opinion how do we get more influence for fan directors , allow them to voice their opinion and not always the club line. EG Ibrox and treatment of fans.
Will the board allow this probably not and there maybe good reasons for that decision , but for clear and worthwhile progress LD has tae losen the shackles applied to both Frank and Amit both very capable individuals IMO.
So in conclusion does it matter who gets voted in if the status quo remains , not a jot , LD has to allow more freedom within common sense levels for these folk to be worthwhile as fan reps and be free to voice their opinions publicly.
    southfield I got 3/3

Get the 9 reps doing apprentice style tasks broadcasted every Monday at 9pm on Hibs TV. Live final in front of a packed ER coiniciding with the promotion party. With Trump back to world domination duties there is a gap in the market.

Feckin' right! Make them work for the gig. Make the final task a quiz with obscure questions such as "why did Thorsten Schmugge return to Germany after his 1 game trial at Hibs?", and "What reason did Alex Marinkov give for leaving Hibs after the promotion-winning 98/99 season?"

I met sir Pat in a boozer in Brussels and sat starry eyed listening tae his tales of Easter road. I met Charlenes auld man at school, in fact I took his next door neighbour tae the quali dance circa 1968?ish ...Linda wallace...what a babe. I'll probably vote for Frank and Amit again, only because they've been there and both have helped out without question tae the 2 hibs things that have happened concerning myself since the cup win.

    Hi Charlene

Out of approx 50 first team games last season how many did you attend?

it will probably be expected by many fans that a supporters representative attends the vast majority of games home and away.

as Greenpower mentioned did you agree with the decision to scrap the loyalty points system?

    Hi Charlene

Out of approx 50 first team games last season how many did you attend?

it will probably be expected by many fans that a supporters representative attends the vast majority of games home and away.

as Greenpower mentioned did you agree with the decision to scrap the loyalty points system?
    Hi Tricky,

Well, the last year was probably my lowest number of games in a season – I attended at least 15. I’m sure this is probably not the number you’re looking for, but then I wasn’t a fan rep or campaigning to be one last year, and it was an unusually low number for me. It was my 12th consecutive season as a season ticket holder, and over the years I’ve travelled across the country and overseas to follow Hibs. At one point, the only game I’d missed in a three-year period was the away tie to Dnipro.

Of course, should I be selected as a fan representative I expect to get to many more games – however, while I agree that it’s important that the fan reps have a fairly regular attendance and have a good understanding about what the matchday experience is home and away, I don’t think this is the be all and end all. The club are pulling in 10,000+ at home games, so just being there and being available on match day in my view is simply not enough to get a good understanding of fans views – many fans don’t attend every week themselves after all. That’s why I’ve said my focus will be on trying to be more systematic in gathering fan views from as many sources as possible, as I think this is what the key role of the fan representative is – understanding the views, putting them to the board effectively, and then feeding them back to fans.

    Cheers,

    Charlene
