The Original Hibernian v Dundee Hibernian

First of all, well done Hibs in sticking with our original name all these year, Persevere and all that.

Big Hibs support heading up to the hame of Oor Wullie for a peh or a tak awa, and I am looking forward to it.

OK, we have nae midfield, and that should worry us, they have been playing well, that should worry us, but then so have we and that should worry them.

Team isnae easy with so many causalities, however I suspect it may look something like this.....

Rocky in goals, the three amigos in Darren, Paul and Liam, captain Dave down the right, Lewis down the left.

Hoping Marv is fit, we know we are without Super John and Fraser Fyvie, but if not available I expect Dylan in the holding role, behind Shinnie and possibly Scott Martin, with Squirrel and Brian Graham starting up front? I would love to see oor Jase back and scoring goals, but who would he replace?

See you all up there, we have sold 2800 tickets, there are 700 more for sale for their west stand as pay at the gate.

That doesn't sound too bad a side actually, even if we are to be without Marv as well as SJM and FF.

Stuck out in South Korea again so will be waking up roughly just as the game is ending. Fingers crossed for a win that would be absolutely huge for us!

I told you about stealing they Tena Men from the Co-op, two weeks in the tin pail for that was harsh though.

Given my restricted view seat, and penchant for vino tinto on a Friday, it could be a different read, although with it being on the box, telly watchers may have a better view and offer better insight.

Might be interesting for one of bouncers who are watching it on the telly to write a "just finished watching the game on the box" match summary, and I will do the same from a watching live perspective when I get down from Dundee a few hours later. See how they match up?

    Anyone?

I'd consider playing either Hanlon or Stevenson in midfield tonight. Not much steel available.

My bed is wet. I think we are getting beat tonight. We cannot cope with the personnel losses we have sustained, IMHO. Hate to say it, but that's my feeling.

I'm unfortunately not able to get to the game so it's watching on BT Sports on an iPad but happy to volunteer to do a 'Just Finished Watching The Game On The IPad'?

We will get chances. We take them then we win.

That said I'm kind of expecting otherwise....

Will be interesting as I usually agree with 99% what you say on the games I get to that you are at Mark.

Given our current plight with regard to injuries, I would be very pleased with a draw tonight.

United will be fired up and will have a real go at us. They are a decent team with a good manager and have been on a great run. I think they have won every home game in the league so far this season. Losing McGinn and Fyvie long term is a huge blow to Hibs as we enter a crucial stage of the season and it's no surprise that Lennon is making moves to get in an experienced player or two. I wouldn't judge Dundee United on their performance at Easter Road where they were without several first picks as we will be tonight...rather look at their record at Tannadice so far this season which is excellent. They will be hard to beat tonight, but so much depends on how we cope with the loss of our midfield engine room. We have to take our chances and....please for once ?..defend set-pieces properly.

That's my thinking. If we had our full midfield I'd be more confident but I reckon a draw at best tonight.

Boyle is having a mare, shocking touches and all over the place. McGeough is invisible and Stevo is shocking so far, McGregor keeping us in it, hope were better second half, and watch Andreu the guy we should of signed.

jeez shinnie slipping all the time, Cummings or Graham have to start from now on, said Dundee Utd where a huge threat to promotion this season and that looks correct.

Pathetic. We won't get promoted with this group of players. And I'm far from convinced by Lennon. He talks a good game when talking about Celtic a lot but he's making a $#@! up of this:

Offered nothing had two tickets but had to miss cause of work. Shocking pen from Boyle never a pen for them. We don't offer enough from wide areas set pieces tonight far to often to know one or to deep. No idea why Stevenson was on some of them tonight.
    Poor hibs but little expected

Fair play to all those who attended tonight, but I'm glad I didn't after watching that.
Too many players way below the level we need-and the level they're capable of.
How bad was Boyle's touch in the first half FFS?? He couldn't have trapped a bag of cement! His penalty was pish anaw.

The only positive I can take from tonight is (hopefully) it totally rules out any complacency behind the scenes.
We need better players come the transfer window.

Bad result and a bad performance....we are in for one hell of a battle with Dundee United for the top spot this season.
Our cause will not be helped one iota by having our best midfield players missing through injury during the crucial months of December and January.
So obvious tonight how much Hibs depend on McGinn's drive, tenacity and creativity...Fyvie badly missed as well.
I've never believed that Martin Boyle was natural striker...a good wide attacking player and that's about it.
United not very good either but that's them now won every home game and taken 4 points out of 6 from Hibs already.
A lot of work needed in the weeks ahead.

promotion, hmm with a missing midfeild.referees giving dodgy descions, everything against us in this league, these things even out my arse.
We will only be promoted if we buy the title, what we do in this window will not only define this season but the future of the club.

First of all massive round of applause for a great $#@!n support up there everyone's of you done us proud
Secondly when the $#@! is lennon going to figure out his best side
He still doesn't no who to play up front and I'm $#@!in fed up with reading Cummings was dropped because of a dip in form it's now been typed in the press as an autumn drop in form
His $#@!n form never dropped or did I miss something here
The laddie scored week in week out from week one and was never playing brilliant or was never on fire at any point
HE WAS SCORING $#@!N GOALS AS ALWAYS
The problem was he was the only one scoring goals and nobody else was he then got dropped for scoring goals and doing not a lot more??? And then others chipped in with goals and all of a sudden Cummings was off form??? Is it just me or am I totally off the mark
Now on to tonight why did Boyle take that pen? I understand holt not taking it cos he missed the other week but why wasn't hanlon taking the bloody thing? We go a goal up another might have followed and there's no way back for them
I'm far too pissed of to even attempt to give a rational comment on the rest of that game just now and I take my hat off and admire 1875 for his just backs especially after games like that
Another thing lennon must bring in a left back as much as we all love stevenson he's really just a hibs daft fan who's a championship player at best and couldn't cross his legs
Let's all remember we ain't good enough and are in the championship because off players who ain't good enough to play for our club and sentiment is good but not good enough

With McGinn and Fyvie injured our midfield is lacking. Keats injured. Squirrel should be brought on when defenders are tiring and Holt is simply $#@!ing $#@!e.

As someone pointed out on Twitter, who gave Lewis the nod to take set pieces?

Oh aye, and we have a guy who`s scored 46 goals in two seasons sitting on the bench week after $#@!in week.

    Wonder where it went wrong?
I started out with nothing and i`ve still got most of it left.

Hibs only got themselves to blame tonight. D Utd won't believe their good fortune, play crap and still win.
Our crossing into the box, free kick or corner is laughably horrific.

Ominous signs however the standard in this league is $#@!, we need to ensure we are marginally better consistently, surely with our squad and budget we will have enough???

    Must do better, much better

    This.

    Classic Hibs performance.

Holt is $#@!in murder. Sorry, but if you wear number 9 for Hibs, you need to score goals; or at least threaten to score. He does neither.

Dear oh dear, that was inept. But I thought we were a wee bit better than Dundee Utd but it was a poor game of football. We were unlucky to lose the game.

lets not forget if it wasnt for refereeing descions this season we'd be miles ahead, instead were stuck in a dog fight, and we rarely win them.

I agree mate but I can't remember their keeper having a save to make which is a bit disturbing
    Apart from the pen obviously

Shinnie came close in the second half but the keeper was well positioned. It was poor stuff and frusutrating to watch Hibs labour so badly.

    Your right mate it's torture
We where a far better side last season and never came up we where also a better side to watch yet scored less goals
It's actually baffling what's going on we are conceding less we are scoring more yet we don't look like half the side when it was in full flight last year 😟

He missed the last penalty he took for Hibs, Boyle is nominated penalty taker (or was).

The penalty taker should be Cummings and he should be starting.

We shoulda and could have won. We showed little in first half, yet enough to think we could win. I blame Lennon for insisting Boyle take penalty when Holt seemed right up for it. I also was being driven nuts by the kids in front of me shouting at stevenson and holt all game. Do they realise negativity only ever breeds negativity? And then throwing their hats on the pitch at the end just was poor considering the team did try..and holt tried very hard, unfortunately without the ability.

But lets stop taking the easy way out critisising stevenson and Holt who seemed to give a damn and look as the OP mentioned at guys like McGeoch who is blessed with and abundance of talent but plays square balls instead of running into the box and trying a shot every now and again. the goalie was fine and made some crackin saves. As for the rest, I suck at doing these man for man things so anyway, enjoyed the night out, had a few beers, now ont he run, GGTTH peace out
