How many fans did Hibs take to the finals in the 1970s?

Question just popped into my head ; for some reason I have always assumed it was less than in more recent times, but I don't really know why I think that (possibly based on an account of low numbers at one of the 1979 replays).

Can any of the veterans enlighten me? I'm especially curious about the monster crowds at early 70s finals

    Pretty much agree with Heid.

I've been to all the games Hibs played at Hampden since the 60s and some of the crowds were huge. The times the Smellies put 6 past us it seemed like a 50/50 in the crowd, but as everyone had green on it was hard to tell. The Hibs fans had front teeth, but as we rarely smiled that wasn't much of a clue.
I missed the second replay when we lost to the Huns in 1979 as I was on my way back from Wemberlee but I attended all the other semis and finals.

Persevered is indeed the word and features in my tattoo!

I would guesstimate Hibs had about a third of the attendance at most finals against Celtic and Rangers i.e.
    Celtic 1969 25, 000 Hibbies
Celtic 1972 30,000 Hibbies ( I know this is less than a third of 106,000 but I did state about a third).
Celtic 1972 20,000 Hibbies (lower number of Hibbies after the Scottish Cup Final 6-1)
Rangers 1979 17,000 and about 10,000 for each of the replays.
Aberdeen in 1985 was about 50/50 20,000 Hibbies

The 91 final we won we had in excess of 30k so we really do hold up well.

Was at semi final v sellik in 1980 though and only about 50-100 of us where I was...no idea where the rest were hiding Think we might have been in the wrong end though and many a fight broke out

No segregation in the early days. As my fellow oldies will testify Celtic & Hibs shared the Rangers End. Got lifted around my 18th birthday at the LC final in '74. Big rammy kicked off after Dixie Deans scored his first.

That match was the first cup final I was taken to by my dad along with his mate and my younger brother. I was 9 years old, and we sat in that old rickety stand that was knocked down years ago and I remember there both Hibs and Celtic fans in that stand as they were hurling abuse at each other all through the match. I just remember the noise and the traumatising experience of watching my beloved team being put through the mill by a rampant Celtic team and all these noisy Celtic bams sitting all around us and going mental after every Celtic goal. From long childhood memory Hibs seemed to have quite a big support at the game but as there was no segregation and everyone was wearing green it was hard to tell. My dad was at the 6-1 Scottish Cup Final defeat in 1972 and he said that Hibs had an incredible support through that day and made up about a third of the 106,000 crowd.

I know it's not what was asked but istr we sold 36k tickets v livi in 2004.

Also my recollection of 85 v Aberdeen was that we outnumbered them 2-1 roughly say 25k hibs fans. I'll have a look at the papers
