    A partnership made in heaven...

Well maybe not exactly Suarez and Messi (of course not) but by jings that was good to see someone finally make the most of Grant Holt's forward play. Squirrel had his best game for Hibs today by some way. He and Holt were neck and neck for MotM. Squirrel probably deserved it even minus Holt's pen miss.

    Same again next week, please.

PS excellent seeing the Skol Cup side at half time. Who would have thought BF would have had that welcome. Rightfully so, for what it is worth. Pity we couldn't hear what they were saying.

Probably an incredibly dense moment for me here but who's BF?

Was budgie there I couldn't figure out via the worst tannoy in Europe, whether he was being spoken to or spoken about, and I couldn't tell who anyone was apart from geebs and keef with their fading red tops. Who was it on the blue sports jacket and jeans - he seemed to be enjoying himself?

I could see McGinlay, Hamilton, Geebsie, Keef, Mickey clear enough. I think Gareth was there as I thought he was talking to Murdo. Martin Ferguson was with Miller. Thought I heard them say Beaumont was there. But I don't think Budgie was? And maybe Mark Mcgraw?

Boyle was superb today and deserved his MoTM and standing ovation. I like holt, he's a smart footballer but he just frustrates me so much at times. He seems to have an inability to jump at times and I don't think leaving him on the park for 80mins when he's been blowing out his arse since 60 is always the best thing but they did link up well together today!

No, budgie wasn't there. Murdo, Gareth Evans, Micky Weir, Brian Hamilton, Pat McGinley ( who looks just the same!), Gordon Hunter, Graham Mitchell, Keith Wright and Tortollano were there. I think I've missed a couple. Good memories.

That was Boyle's best ever game for Hibs and I thought he linked up very well with Grant Holt. Still don't see him as a natural striker though..he is far better wide attacking on the flanks and getting in behind defences. He was excellent today though and showed fantastic stamina levels. Holt is a clever player but looks so frustrated at the lack of decent service he gets.

I thought Holt's quality shown through today. Yes he is in the twilight of his career but somethings you just don't lose and his intelligent play showed that this afternoon.

Some Hibs fans don't appreciate what he brings, don't expect the guy to run the channels or burst past the last defender. His link up play is excellent and he gives us real presence up front. If he can stay fit I think he will get double figure goals with a fair few assists thrown in.

Boyle is a defenders worst nightmare when he is in the mood, he certainly was today and is the type of player who gets you off your seat. A magnificent performance from the squirrel.

We really need to take our chances though, 2-0 is never a comfortable scoreline, no matter how unlikely it looks like the opposition will score.

    Cheers
From what I read about Holt, sounds similar-ish to Brewster back in the early noughties.
