    Darren McGregor

By a mile currently my player of the season on the few times I've seen us this season.

    Absolute rock at the back.

Best player in the last month, without question. Only Hanlon and Fyvie have anywhere near his consistency levels over the course of this season, so far.

I'm amazed Hanlon isn't in the Scotland squad. Actually, I'm not.

No real reason why McGregor shouldn't be in the Scotland squad either.

I heard some numpty on the radio saying there were no centre halves better than the ones Strachan picks. Complete nonsense. Almost ridiculous as not picking Leigh Griffiths. But not quite...

I think his at times poor distribution let's him down. In that respect I think Hanlon is the better overall player.

Maybe Hanlon is too tall? Maybe his feet are too small. With Strachan you can never be sure.

Going to be even more smug when Rangers' defence ships another five to Celtic later today. Could've done with McGregor after all eh Warbs?

McGregor has been a stand out and brings a nice balance to a back three with two left footers. He is as strong as an Ox and I love how you can tell how much it means to him playing for Hibs, chest out and all that.
He has got a bit pace too but sometimes suffers from a lack of concentration, Scotland cap? Why not, both him and Paul H. Unlikely to happen though is it?

I was wrong about this guy. Totally.
I thought he'd spent too long in the lower divisions to be any use to Hibs going forward.

    Humble pie duly wolfed down!
    Ever play this game chief?

Too think that guy with the fannies hat said he wasn't good enough. Certainly was our gain what a signing he's been!

McGregor has had a very good season so far, let's hope it continues. Have to say I would expect both Darren McGregor and Paul Hanlon to shine in this standard of league as they are both good experienced defenders who have played at a decent level for years at big clubs.
McGregor is not the fastest, but makes up for it with his good reading of the game and just by being a very good central defender.
In all honesty though I don't think either him or Hanlon are international standard, but then you can say that about just about all of the current Scotland squad.

I don't think McGregor or Hanlon will be considered for an international call-up whilst we are still in the Championship.
I know John McGinn has been but he really is an exception to the rule and will hopefully become a mainstay of the Scotland team in the years ahead.
