Excellent cwr I had seen a condensed version of this but never the full film. It's brilliant watching Hibs of the past. Seeing Embra how it was back then, the crowds at the fitba, the whole team, stuff like that. Ye can see why the ladies loved the handsome Gordon Smith, especially in the shot when he's standing next to Jock Govan

A goalies jumper back then was exactly that! A yellow, woolen, polo neck jumper. And great seeing the guy chalking the goalie line in the mud at H-T. Newspaper headlines with the words 'Easter Road Orgy' Ooh-er missus! It also shows the league decider against the Hun at Ibrox which ended 0-0. Sadly in 1950 they won it with us finishing runner up. If only they had filmed it the year after....or the year after that anaw.

Still, a golden era for Hibs. Never to be repeated. Between seasons 46/47 to 52/53 our placings were 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd. Marvelous.

Seen this a few times over the years... what always gets me watching old films of Edinburgh 30s 40s 50s etc is how clean the streets are.

    Spotless. (gorgie excepted)

    Fantastic to watch that again.

Proper football played by proper players in proper kits with proper haircuts in a proper stadium (and not a tattoo in sight.)

That looks like so long ago, it was only 20 years before I was born, only a little longer till I went to my first game.

Reminds me why I used to love football.

Greatest Hibs team of all time and containing the clubs greatest ever player in Gordon Smith.
My 83 year old dad was lucky enough to watch this team in their prime in the late 40's and early 50's.
imagine what it must have been like to go to Easter Road in those days to see that team play in front of 30 -40,000 crowds.
