    Hanlon signs 3 Year deal

Some fan account on Twitter (yes, i know) suggesting Paul has rejected the offer of a rather poor contract extension from Hibs. Any in-the-knowers on here aware or have any info on this?

    As in, true or pish...
I started out with nothing and i`ve still got most of it left.

I'm aware Aberdeen are alledgily keen on Hanlon.

I've a couple of Don pals who seem certain that's where he is going. Would be a massive blow to the squad.

I agree it would be a blow, but Paul Hanlon has been a first team regular since 2008 and perhaps feels it's time to move on now especially with Hibs facing an unprecedented third season in the Championship. Hibs will not be able to compete financially with top half SPFL clubs now so we had just better get used to that. Some of our players will definitely leave this summer, hopefully not too many of our better ones, but whoever the new manager is has to be given sufficient funds to ensure we win the league next season.

So Hibs have offered him a contract on less than he's on just now, he's also spoken to Aberdeen?

We must have a few more £ since Saturday, getting Paul signed up has to be priority #1.

Keep the good momentum going ffs Hibs!

I doubt very much that Paul will have spoken to Aberdeen - unless it was to say "Not just now thanks, I'm still in talks with Hibs."

The story was punted round just prior to the Cup Final.
    Surprise surprise.

No idea where it may have started from.

Gone quiet on the Paul front. Are we/is he waiting on the new managerial appointment?

Hibs should get the finger out and make him a decent offer, if they haven’t already done so.
I’m pretty sure that he gets married during the break – and a nice signing on fee and a three year deal would be a nice wedding present. The boy could easily be Hibs longest serving player in due course.
If we don’t get him tied up soon then he will be off. He has to get some security before clubs get their squads identified and sorted. Stubbsy says he won’t ‘raid Hibs’ but I reckon taking a guy without a contract may not count as raiding. No idea if Rubberham’s defence needs strengthening, but if Cletus Clubfoot was playing for them last season then it’s a safe bet it does.

    GET HIM SIGNED

I guess (hope) they're waiting for a new manager to be in place to allow them the opportunity to 'endorse' the signing?

Or they're being tight and he'll end up at Aberdeen or Rotherham

Maybe Hibs are waiting, but there’s no guarantee Paul will.

There is not a chance that we would be able to find a replacement as good or better at a price we can afford. Any new manager would be delighted to have Paul on board.

If we are seriously waiting for a new manager to rubber stamp a no-brainer decision like this then I’m seriously disappointed in the decision making processes there.

If we get Forster back, I think he will step up tae the plate in the coming season. I think he should have stayed at Easter Road last season. Not that I want tae lose Hanlon, IMO he,s our most improved player last year by a country mile.

Complete negligence if we lose Paul. Outstanding loyalty if the rumours are true that he's happy to sign on again on the last contract terms.

He came on for the final 10 minutes or so of Plymouth's play-off final against AFC Wimbledon mate and was pretty honking to be honest, $#@!ed up a couple of times and conceded a penalty. Not enough time to make a proper judgement I know, but I'd prefer we retained Hanlon

Didnae see that Kev but I want hibs tae retain both mate. If we get an injury or a suspension we need good cover, as in what we were supposed tae get with the 3 for each position squad that was talked about earlier in the season. FWIW I think Forster is the best heider of a baw we had when he played . .

I agree mate, I like Forster and he is definitely better than he showed in the closing minutes of that game. Not sure how much game time he's been getting down there? He also looked totally different to what I remembered - skinheid and a big beard! Keeping both him and Hanlon would be double barry

    That would be very good.

Think the Hibs media dept will be busy this week. New manager, Hanlon contract, season ticket deadline, cup final merchandise, giving the vickies to Sevco also.

Superb. Really happy about this. Any "Shanlon" patter merchants out there want to weigh in here?

A future Scotland cap. In fact, I think he should be in there now.

    Good work, Paul.

Fantastic news - he'll be coming into the prime years of his career for us.

Important piece of the jigsaw in place for next season and keeps the feel good factor rolling along nicely.

    Hendo next please Hibs!
