Tremendous efforts there Owen(though perhaps not so good for those of us with a slightly cuddlier physique!)

They both look fantastic and would sell in their thousands imo
Home socks green with white tops would make the home strip perfect for me

They're magnificent with the harp watermark. First it's the crest on the stadium now this. We really are trying to rid ourselves of the gypsy curse

I don't know you Owen but you have a talent for designing truly awesome Hibs strips. If we are one big family then the club should be consulting fans on new strip designs.
They could do far worse than looking at some of your mock ups, even better you could help the club design next seasons strip, after consulting on the Bounce obviously!

    Great efforts bud.

    Next seasons kit(s)

I don't know about the club but it might be worth investigating how much it would cost to knock up those white harp kits - reckon we'd sell a bundle for the summer.

I agree they are spectacular. Are we bound to Nike for next year or could Amit bring these mock ups to the board as a sign of what fans would be in favour of?

They all seem to be in Xtra Small or Slimfit.

I can't really take them seriously.

Could you do some in 'REGULAR' (XL) fit so that some connection with reality is maintained?

Don't worry about it Amit buddy. The days of originality in football kits are gone sadly. It's all templates and choose the colour sadly.

    stunning designs @Owen

The earlier posts from Feb this year with the shadow large harp are fantastic. Would love Hibernian to do this, with the Castle shadowed in the away strip and the st michael shadowed in the 3rd strip. Would look fantastic imo.

Great strips owen. All would sell like $#@!!

The Great Michael, largest ship of her time, twice the size of The Mary Rose and built in NewHaven. There's a model of it in Ocean Terminal and a building called Great Michael House on the North side of the Links, beside the bowling greens.

Great stuff @Owen I think my personal favourite is the one in your avatar. If only Hibs had someone with your creativity designing our kits in future, instead of being presented with a limited number of bland templates to choose from. Not sure if this is a Nike thing? Puma appear to offer bespoke kits; the gunts away monstrosity being one (bad) example, also their FOH tribute jersey from last season.

Well, buff me pink with a yellow duster!

I had only a passing recollection of The Great Michael ship without knowing the details. Had a wee Wiki at it, interesting stuff. I always thought the ship in our badge was there as a nod to Leith, so I'm delighted now to know the facts behind it. Cheers

I think it is a nod to Leith and the coat of arms, I dunno whether the ship on the coat of arms is the Great Michael tbh? Possibly not, I'd assume the coat of arms preceeds The Great Michael? It was a wee 1+1 =2 by me, which could be off.

Whether you're off or not it's certainly a plausible suggestion for the ship's identity (if indeed it has one). Maybe it really is a nod to Leith's maritime tradition and nobody thought of The Great Michael at the time? Urban myth started, copyright @southfieldhibby?

The Harp represents our Irish heritage.

    The Castle represents Edinburgh.

    The Ship represents Leith.

I always thought it was a nod to the Great Michael.....

Aye, that was my take on it until southfieldhibby threw in the Great Michael and got me wondering. Would be a good question in a pub quiz.

I did some googling on the leith coat of arms but couldn't find much on origins except some stuff claiming it was a Knights Templar device similar to contemporaries across Europe. Oh @snoots where art thou at such moments!

The badge was designed by Erick Davidson's company Tayburn. He was on the board at the same time at Malcolm McPherson and they ran a competition to get fans to design the new badge when the old Saturn's pattern Skol Cup one was deemed too far removed from the club's traditions - and that the fans' only emotional tie to it was the takeover bid and 91 win. It had been the ill-fated Duff-Gray attempt to make Hibs look continental when we were telt we couldn't use the crown by the Crown Office all those years ago.

Anyway, none of the designs from fans exactly ticked all the boxes and so Tayburn designed the current one to incorporate the castle for Edinburgh, the harp for our founding fathers, the ship for Leith using entries as inspiration. It was not intended to be a nod to Great Michael. I got shown the design a few weeks before it was unveiled and Erick Davidson relayed all this to me in person. So, it's straight from the horse's mooth..

I always remembered it as a fan that designed it? I have some vague memory of the story in the paper with a picture with the young lad holding his drawing next to the new crest. Hmmm

Done a wee bit googling and seemingly the fan was called Bryan Leslie. He was mentioned in Ted Brack's book 'There's Only One Sauzee'

"It was a time of change at Easter Road as the club eschewed it's old badge, which had never been popular with it's support, and introduced a new one, which had been designed by a teenage fan called Bryan Leslie. Bryan's design showcased the Harp to denote Hibs' Irish roots, a ship to mark their base in the port of Leith and a castle to provide the connection with Edinburgh. The new crest was met with almost universal approval."

Whoever he was, he did a great job. Hope we never change the badge, unless we win a European trophy and stick a star above it.

It definitely got done by Tayburn's graphic team using inspiration from the fans' competition. None were good enough to simply use. I saw the drafts in person, at the Tayburn offices. The PR and the actual reality of things are never quite the same thing. Usually for good reason.

I get that but I thought you were saying that the actual idea of the Harp, Ship & Castle wasn't a fans creation? It was. I'm sure his drawing was a green circle with the HSC inside it and obviously the graphic team played around with it turning it into a shield, adding the fitba/words/ colouring etc.

I'm not that naive to think that Hibs would have went with a kids drawing as is....I mean, I can only think of one club that has done that with their badge - Dunfermline Athletic - and look how that turned out!

I said that they took elements from the entries to the competition but that none were the actual design. So it wasn't any specific person's design, a graphic designer made the actual badge, but they took inspiration from the entries.

Anyway, I'm off to Kirkcaldy. No graphics will be involved in me being there. If people see me, it is really me

Yip, as I thought then. Gonna have to agree to disagree then, SKII. I'll stick with it's a revamped version of an individual's design. Bryan Leslie's. I could be wrong of course, anyways enjoy the game.
