I assume this was from the HoH chaps?

Using the Hibs emblem was a smart move
At least it is spelled correctly.

I imagine it means Hibs can have it removed promptly, for using the badge without their consent?
Not that it matters as the message is out there now.

I'd really really have loved to see the wee Hibs official guy attempt to remove that sign from the trailer, even Hibs aren't that stupid....

It is a choice not a shake down. A shake down is extortion, a criminal act of coercion or intimidation for personal gain. I wont be investing in the Hibs offer, but to call it a shake down is a $#@!ing joke. I am done wae HOH.

Think the 2 options are a good options, I really don't know what else the club could have offered.

Forget about the new HFC loan thingy and the doubting folk I think, would see this different. End of the day our debts had/have to be paid back to someone. They are on better terms and no capital repayments to be paid back in years to come.

So back to the 51%, we will own a majority stake, and STF only 44% and RP 5%. We will have bought it for only 2.5m, I think it's a steal, and let's be honest the money raised will be used to Shore up the books fir this season and next if we don't get promoted.

I am a little uncomfortable with LD being on the HSL board but she seams trustworthy so...

We could own the the whole club in 5 years time.

We will buy shares probably, not that it matters to us as we don't have kids to leave the certificate to so contributing to hsl would just be the same at the end of the day. Both are gifts.

I really don't think hoh can come out and say it's a shake down and a donation to a multi millionaire,at least not yet anyway
I'm not sure about the whole share issue thing and find it pretty complicated and unclear
But without a single penny being handed over to come out with a statement like that is jumping the gun a bit and very bold
I think hoh may have just lost more backing and support than they hope to gain from this

Are HoH going to sing Old McDonald at the game on Saturday I wonder. What a bunch of deluded fantasists. Sooner they get the hell away from our club the better.

Petrie seems to have got an easy time of things at the AGM. It seems some people are happy with him hanging about still.

I cannot do "just back" threads as well as 1875, in fact I'm fairly hopeless at reporting events I have been at to people, so please forgive my somewhat basic views on what transpired tonight. Hopefully someone else who was there with a better memory than me can do it better.

Arrived at the FF stand at about 6.40 to be met with placards and TV cameras and some guy trying to give me a wristband. I politely refused and went in. I went in the Forthview Lounge and exchanged greetings with Paul Kane who is an old school mate of mine. The meeting started at 7.00 in front of by far the best attended AGM I have ever been to. I was a bit taken aback by the security on show.

The meeting itself.....the best way to describe it would be that it was basically a 2 hour sales pitch. It was a bit like being at a meeting of the footballing equivilant of the Supreme Soviet. It was very stage-managed so much so they ran out of time (deliberately in my view) for any proper questions on the share issue much to the understandable annoyance of several dissenting shareholders. The usual financial reports came and went with only a few questions, then we had an interminally long presentation by George Craig which was very passionate and enthusiastic and interesting, but could easily have been delivered in half the time he took. We also had a speech from Rod along the usual lines, and another speech from Leeann Dempster...basically everything we have heard already. By far the highlight of the evening was Alan Stubbs speech,I thought he came over very well. It all started to get rather silly at the end when various members of HoH and BuyHibs tried to ask questions about the share issue and were shouted down by the majority of people in the room. I thought this was embarrassing. I know people may disagree with them, but at the end of the day they are Hibs supporters and Hibs shareholders and they deserve to have their questions treated with respect and answered properly...not treated with the sort of disdain they were. A furious looking Tom Farmer ended up getting up and ranted away about how he was sick of it all and had a go at Simon Pia (who had tried to ask an earlier question and was also shouted down) for all the abuse he had apparently taken from him over the years.

I thought the meeting ended chaotically, and I thought it was disgraceful how they did not allow sufficient time for very pertinent questions to be answered and discussed regarding the share issue, after all it is the future of the club we are talking about. It was as if they were offering a fate accompli and take it or leave it. You will do as we tell you because we know best sort of thing. No room for dissent...no room or time for questions or discussion...that's it. I still think there are many questions that need answered and I hoped we would get some proper detail at the AGM but we didn't...just the usual hyped up sales pitch.

In summary, some parts of the meeting were interesting, but most of it was a very rigidly structured, stage-managed "look at how great we are now compared to what went before" sort of thing. I wanted proper discussion and debate about the share issue and we never got it. If the boy Craig hadn't prattled on so long we might have done, but I got the feeling this was all pre-planned to drown out any dissent.

Sorry I can't say any more at the moment I've only just got back. I will add in any more that I remember.

The AGM opened with Rodders giving his usual talk, it then to me seem like a scripted agm with all speakers talking from notes etc, I appreciate folk write speeches but you also learn most of it?

Most of the 2 hours was spent listening to George Craig talking about the development of the club and how things are getting run, it was more like a presentation than a AGM... stubbys then talked, I like stubbs and he came across well.

The final section and the Q&A section got a bit heated with simon pia and then kano challenging figures, cant quite mind what they were bt this led to Sir Tom entering and taking the stage to applause, he gave a passionate speech
where he he I'm sick and tired of people making accusations about him or rod petrie, and talk of ripping off the club, he said he was fed up with it and if we wanted it we can have it, because why should he keep it, he then told us why he would keep it, cause he believed in it and he wants to believe in it.

Sir Tom then got a standing ovation.

The meeting then ended without any further discussing of the share issue

They've only gone and done it..
They've only gone and won The Scottish Cup.

A standing ovation seems a bit much considering what we've had to put up with. It was on his chosen one, Petrie's watch that we've had years of dire football resulting in the humiliation of relegation.

Hands up if ye stood up for the STF standing ovation.
Alan Stubbs and George Craig gave us genuine hope for the future. But the elephant in the suite was Rodders. why didn't he follow Lex Gold's admirable example and resign after relegation ?
It seems if you don't tow the STF/'Tache line you'll get shouted down by fellow shareholders and patronised by the suits.

Thanks GM. I know when guys like you are not happy with the way things went, it must be bad.

Applause, jeez embarrassing, but not surprising got the sense at a previous meeting that many are up there arses. Also people have the right to ask questions without being shouted down by oldbuggers. Petrie GTF.

Couldn't make it tonight, so didn't get to ask why we don't have a big crest on our stadium, disappointed however...

The more things change the more things stay the same...sounds pretty much like the 1998 agm all over again with a good few of the protagonists still winding each other up. Rod was managing director or chief exec back then too, no?

It certainly confirms the suggestion the policy of divide and rule/ like it or lump it is alive and well at the club.

Busiest and most exciting Hibs AGM Ive ever been to quite enjoyed it.
Rodders must have been relieved at the reception he got no real abuse at all, although I dont think many would want him there any longer than possible.
Leeanne isnt a great orator she is no doubt very good at her job, but her public speaking skills arent the best. It was if she had never seen her speech before reading it. (She was a bit better when she responded to the ranting at the end I thought)
George Craig verbal genius! He could be a motivational/after dinner speaker and I enjoyed his presentation immensely. I had no intention of increasing my shareholding but after listening to this guy I would have bought hundreds. And the snake oil. And the Magic Beans as well.
Alan Stubbs also came across well. He admitted hes done nothing so far but seems to be a good fit for Hibs. I think hell be good for us, but I think he has a future at a bigger club than ours if he has his way.
Simon Pia. Deary me. Just a bit of a rant really. Kano too. Repeating the same old same old, not actually asking questions but more an attempt at a rallying speech.

I have to admit I took part in the standing ovation for STF. I just cant be arsed with the baseless accusations that he (and Rodders) are crooks. Put up or shut up lads its time to show us the evidence.
The deal on offer seems sound to me nothing dodgy about it at all.
Im not convinced about Leeann being on the Board of HSL, would have been better to get our fan directors in there instead, and Kenny McAskill? No. He turned up half an hour late and said hed been holding a surgery which may or may not be true. Or it may be that he couldnt remember or didnt know where Easter Road Stadium is.
I may or may not buy more shares, but Im firmly convinced that the deal is neither a Ponzi scheme (perhaps the use of Google would have precluded calling it that) nor a vehicle to line the pockets of STF and/or Rodders. Rodders may be incompetent in many ways, but calling him a crook is just too far for me Im afraid.
The meeting was a bit shambolic at the end the ranting rather than questions just angered folk who might well have wanted to ask/or hear genuine Q&As rather than pontificating.

    Just my opinion.

Clearly at odds with the views of other Bouncers, but I was always an awkward bugger.

    Agreed.

The shareholders at the end didn't get the opportunity to ask questions, I'd suggest had as much to do with Pia going on a rant rather than asking any questions that may, or probably would not, have been of interest. That drew STFs response and meant time was up. 20 minutes total?

To give an indication of the Pia rant in there somewhere was some half baked mention of the sale of the car park! That's where I got the FFS I thought we'd moved on from there sinking feeling, getting out for a smoke was more a priority than listening to him prattle on!

I fully accept George Craig is is a blether. However I'm sure there will have been folk there who hadn't heard him talk and talk and talk before.

Overall I thought it was just what you'd expect from a Hibs AGM, sorry for the mistakes, let's move on, it's all very positive. Nobody will be surprised that once again I'm ... optimistic :-)

I've gone from buying shares, to buying into HSL, back to buying shares again (and gifting them to my daughter, only issue with that is she'd then have more than me!).

Excellent summary. Very much the way I saw it too. I was sitting 2 seats away from STF - interesting that he got up for his unscripted intervention with 2 pages of notes.......

Thanks GM. I know when guys like you are not happy with the way things went, it must be bad.
The meeting itself I thought threw up some good points and as I said I thought Alan Stubbs was excellent. I just think the share issue should have been debated and the points raised and questions asked by shareholders should have been answered properly or at least given proper time. People may not care much for the likes of Simon Pia and Paul Kane but they are both genuine Hibs supporters and shareholders who have as much right to be heard as anyone else whether you agree with them or not. It's this shouting down of people because you don't agree with what they say that annoys me no end...surely an Annual General Meeting is the forum when questions should be asked and answered properly. I just got the impression tonight they just didn't want any dissent, they just wanted to push their new shares issue forward and constantly accentuate the positive rather than have to deal with legitimate questions following such a disasterous year for the club.

AGM's are so much AGMs these days as stage-managed, slick, professional, friendly chats, as long as ye tow the party line.

STF got up and said he was 'sick and tired' Naebody's keeping ye Tom... then proceeded to bawl at the dissidents, as if they were a cowed workforce. Well I've worked for ****s like that in the past so it's water off a duck's back as far as I'm concerned.

Rodders went on aboot the rally in summer, goin on abbot "hate- filled pictures beamed around the world" have a word....

I believe Petrie said something along the lines of 'the bus is leaving you are either on it, or you can watch it leave'

That's the kind of pish they come out with at my work. Put up with it or $#@! off somewhere else.

It seems to have been missed everywhere.

Colin McNeill resigned from the football board but remains on the Community Foundation board.

I wish the bus had left a few years ago, with him on the front seat. The club wouldn't be in the state it is now with a team struggling to get out of the 'Second Division'.
