    UKIP (Again)

Interesting stuff but, as predicted, they are moving firmly into Labour territory with a "blue-collar platform". This on the back of a very strong performance in the north east of England recently. The appeal to the aspirational working class has shades of Blair's original appeal which the current Labour party have washed their hand off.

BBC News - UKIP sets out election strategy with plans to cut taxes

I think Labour have been way too complacent about UKIP seeing them as a Tory problem. Whilst Milliband is locked in his room sniffing his own mind farts, UKIP are moving in on his core vote.

Labour have concluded that in their target seats they are doing well enough to win an overall majority. They will likely win more seats than the Tories but lose the popular vote. Democracy....

I agree though that they are complacent about UKIP.

Iirc correctly, at the euro election,
Ukip were profiled as having the most working class vote. A surprise only to the Polly toynbees of the world, I expect.

I never understood the faux-surprise at UKIP taking a lot of working class votes in former industrial towns with large immigrant populations.

Hope the calculations weren't done by the same guys who were running the economy when they were in power.

(or maybe I hope they were.)

I don't think it was faux. Labour and it's media shills have little in common with its one time core vote, but still take it for granted.
