    Looking Ahead

What players are still under contract with us for the start of next season?

I would be surprised if we looked to keep any out of contract players. And I could see others still under contract being punted....

I'm dreading the remainder of this season but I am looking forward to this management team getting the gutless dross out of the club and building their own team...

I really don't expect Hibs to keep James Collins on few people might be shocked by that but I don't see him staying..just my gut feeling.

I think apart from the obvious ones out of contract to go in the summer, that there could be one or two surprise exits. Players that the manager will maybe feel have been at the club for too long. I'm thinking the likes of possibly Stevenson and Hanlon. I rate both, but Lewis Stevenson in particular seems to have been at the club for a very long time, and for his own career may himself feel it's time to move on. Paul Hanlon is a very good defender an I would keep him till the end of his contract, but I just get the feeling the manager may see some players as having been at Hibs for too long.

I can't see any of the out of contract players being offered new deals. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Nelson, Heffernan and Tudor Jones allowed to leave, possibly McGivern too. We may try and keep on or two of the loanees if they work out.

The summer is (yet again) going to be a massive rebuilding job for the manager. So many recent Hibs mangers have got this wrong, leading to their eventual departure "by mutual consent" and the next guy inheriting an unbalanced and under-performing team. Mowbray was probably the last manger to get a summer transfer window right, and to be fair Hughes came close. However Collins, Mixu, Calderwood and Fenlon were all less than successful at this task.

    You'll get arrested for that.

Though they may be allowed to leave, I don't see Nelson & Heffernan finding another club without having their contract terminated. I don't believe that the club can continue to spend money compensating 3/4 players with at least another year left on their contracts.

Nelson & Hanlon looked good when Butcher first came in, but they have fizzled out since the defence started to fall apart. Heffernan looked good before he went off against St. Mirren, especially alongside Collins, so I would like to keep him. I don't know what has been going on with Tudur Jones, has been getting injured or has he just not been getting a chance? Then there's McGivern who crumbled after his first game in a Hibs shirt.

The only loan player I can see staying is Haynes.

Agreed. I think the objective may well be to get as many out as possible.

Hanlon has been great, Nelson has been gash.

Am still trying to figure out why the very promising looking Hanlon/Forster pairing was split up????

Tbh I thought Nelson had picked up, it's only fell away again since Hanlon went out injured.
At least Butcher has been using Forster unlike Fenlon Celtic and RR aside, I thought he improved game by game at fullback, stuttered because he played a few in the middle again, where he wasn't so impressive this time around.

I think I was meant to say Forster & Nelson, not Hanlon & Nelson!

I think Hanlon has played his best Hibs games under Butcher, until he got injured.

I think TB concluded Forster was needed at RB?
