It will just be called "The new bridge" by everyone anyway.

Beefy's right ... at least for old dodgers like me. I still call the Balmoral the North British and I won't call it anything else. But in time the new name will be adopted.

I can't for the life of me understand, whatever they ended up calling it, why they couldn't use the word Bridge instead crossing. What's that about?

That's a bridge you will have to cross if you ever meet the person who named the new, erm, crossing bridge thing

I think that it's the best of the shortlisted names. But I would rather they called it a bridge rather than 'crossing'.

No as bad as the bleeding Clackmannashire Bridge or whatever the hell they called it. We already call that one the new bridge so buggered if I know what we will call the next new one. Fully agree with the comments regarding calling it a crossing by the way. Stupido.

Is there any specific reason we didn't go for a tunnel rather than a bridge

They tried it in Glasgow with the squinty bridge. Officially named it the Clyde Arc but to every Glaswegian it is, and will always be, the squinty bridge.

    My sentiments exactly.

Queensferry Bridge would have been the best/better option.

Why would we name it in honour of Her English/German/Saxe-Coburg Majesty?

If we seek Indepedance truly, then the result of the vote has been fiddled with.

I'm not entirely sure that Queensferry is named after the current monarch... Happy to be corrected though.

Well a bridge is a crossing over a stretch of water and Queensferry crossing is a good choice given that North and South Queensferry lie to either side of the Firth. And as for the North British, it was a terrible name for a hotel in the capital and only fitting that the name was changed.

No danger of getting any patriotic choices at this time. Robert the Bruce bridge would have been better.

They should change the name back to the North British. What's Balmoral to do with anything - if its for the American's they may as well call it the Brig O' Doon
