    Discerning... Or just petty?

So, yeah, we all know the hunt for true love is a rough road with many a winding track. In my hunt, I've taken to the online dating scene in order to give myself ever more options; and it's been relatively successful, with four different lassies dated since I started a couple of months ago.

Anyway, I got a message yesterday afternoon from a girl with "jambo" at the end of the name. She was just asking if I fancied a chat sometime, she didn't look unattractive in her pictures and we're about the same age. But the name bears a bit of a hint, and not a particularly positive one.

Would the 'jambo' suffix imply you spend a bit of time at Tynecastle, then? says I.

Fast forward to this evening, and this little gem:

yeh me and the family are good jambos lol

    Cue my response:

Then I have no desire to chat, I'm afraid. Good luck in your footballing pilgrimages to Stoorie Brae and Ben Bogle next year; I'm sure it'll be a laugh.

Now, this isn't the sort of thing I usually go in for doing. Hell, the fact I do online dating implies that I'm not in the type of position where I can be overly picky. See, I can put up with a dud education, a bad attitude, a lack of wanderlust, some opposites (that supposedly attract), a foul mouth and a drink problem. I can live with bad hair, bad skin, bad ears, bad body shape and bad legs.

In short, proposition me with a peg-legged, nursery-schooled inbred that uses gunpowder for toothpaste and I'll give it a go. Hey, I'm no oil painting.

But something stops me, flat out, from dating one of them.

    Anyone else feel this way?

If that's you in the photo to the left, you're indeed a handsome man.

Apologies to the mods for the wrong forum, too. I don't bloody think sometimes.

You were looking particularly handsome in your green onesie at Hampden, Dave. I was a couple of rows behind you.

Re the op's question, issue accurately identified. Smartly done sir.

A chat I had with a Celtc "fan" on one of those sites was even more hilarious.

Not used those sites but football allegiance is one of the very last things I'd give a $#@! about or even think vaguely about when chatting someone up.

What a cop out. You could have at least tried to persuade her to let you nail her whilst she was wearing your Hibs top

    Thumbs down internet dating guntess

after 4 years of trawling the internet dating scene with limited success,I have decided to adopt the more traditional method of too much alcohol and poor judgement.

Ha! I will bear that in mind if I ever go down that route. Luckily there are couple decent opportunities right now, I don't have to start KBing virtual Jambos.

Fair play, Dub - I let general distaste for their kind get in the way of a subversive victory.
