Rob Jones leaves Easter Road

Rob Jones signs for Scunthorpe United
Rob Jones completed a move from Easter Road to Championship side Scunthorpe United.
The 29-year-old defender signed a three-year deal with the newly promoted side for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday night.
Jones met with Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins yesterday and agreed terms for his spell at Glanford Park.
Jones told the Scunthorpe official website, “It feels great to sign for Scunthorpe United”, “It’s nice to be back in England and in an area which I’m familiar with after my time at Grimsby.
“I wouldn’t necessarily say where the club is was a factor behind the move, it’s where the club’s going. I came down on Wednesday and the move just felt right for me.
“The right noises came from the football club. I was interested in coming here and I’ve now cemented that.
“I’m confident that I, and the club, have what it takes to compete at Championship level. I’m just looking forward to it.”
Jones spent three years with Hibees, making over 100 appearances. Yogi had tried to convince the cup winning captain to stay, but ultimately the club respected Jones’ long held wish to go.
A statement on www.hibs.co.uk said: “The Club has honoured an understanding reached with the player following the significant interest shown in the January transfer window.”
Rod Petrie said: “Rob will be remembered fondly as a cup winning captain, scoring with a towering header and lifting the CIS Cup in 2007.
“I would like to thank Rob for all that he has done for Hibernian Football Club and to extend the club’s best wishes to him and his family and to wish him continuing success in his football career in the English Championship.”
The Hibeesbounce would also like to thank Jones for his time at Easter Road and wish him and his family all the best in the future.
